Thank you captain obvious! Seriously, there's literally nobody who does what you think prepper types are doing. You just want to flex your gear and pretend like you're the first to talk down the mall ninjas. Everyone knows how to be the gray man, not being a lone wolf or army of one, to have multiple layers of security, to have a community because nobody can defend themselves alone.

If the enemy is from within and targeting our constitution and our way of life, then it's a threat on two fronts; internal and right behind it an external enemy will arrive on its heels. Personally, I suspect the internal threat is in cahoots with an external enemy.

Anything's possible, but as someone who grew up in the country and lived in a large city for over a decade, and talked to different people on a daily basis for work, I've come to the realization that a large majority of people living in this country don't deserve to call themselves Americans, and they will see the end of everything this country was founded for. We're already getting there. What do you do when half of your population wants the opposite kind of country as the other half? I personally don't see how a second Civil War isn't inevitable, and you're 100% correct that foreign countries will take advantage of that.

Gray man also applies to keeping your political, sex preference, 2A, and other ideologies to yourself. Social Media is a no no.. Be a boring nobody that keeps to yourself for best results. I keep my truck in my garage, and nobody ever sees what I am packing out to play with for the weekend. The use of rubbermaid totes and duffle bags is ideal for moving your supplies from place to place without curious eyes knowing what you have.

I agree completely. As a former Combat Support and Rescue team leader, Army Rangers, it was our job to secure way points, re supply, provide medical treatment and extract small teams in all types of situations. The last thing you want is to look like a United States SOF team. Many times it was best to look like a mentally ill vagrant crashed out in the ally, a common sight in most any city street. Creative thinking is your most valuable weapon and resource. Train to operate when cold wet, tired and hungry, not how to stay warm, dry and happy in adverse conditions. Your will to live and complete the mission trumps gear every day all day. Many times we were able to get to cover, treat the wounded and maintain security, wait for the enemy to simply run out of ammo and go home. We then then extracted with no more resistance. Even just a power outage will kill many modern people from the shock of being in the dark, without running water panic is deadly. Don't be that person by working your mind through it on your own. It's awesome to see to see a man that loves his dogs enough to train them Good on You Sir!

@@davidmecham9676 I think a better question would be “hmmm how can I get myself and others killed who haven’t prepared by trying to forcibly take/steal from others who ARE prepared and are likely more experienced than me”? Most of these ‘guntubers’ you speak of are ex combat veterans. Not gonna say all but most and most have plenty of friends and family who are likeminded who will rally to their side during a SHTF scenario. You do have a point, I’m not arguing that but let’s be realistic here. Go and try to ‘take’ from a well equipped person(s). More than likely you’ll be facing off against multiple people. Armed and ready. Let me know how it works out for you. How about you prepare yourself instead of banking on robbing others because I promise it won’t work out the way you think it will. As a survivalist I've learned, prepared and practiced, even stored supplies in more than one place but I can't stress enough the one mistake that is just to easy to make. You need to know when to go. You need to be able to read the potential outcomes of events happening around you. The reason it's hard is because people don't want to go too early and find they're using up their supplies unnecessarily or they leave it too late and maybe get rounded up.

Maybe it really just depends on the situation. The element of surprise is moot if you are surrounded anyway. Say you have four guys and not much moral limitations looking for resources and you see an unassuming guy with a duffle bag walking around and another in full tactical gear with a rucksack. Ask yourself who's the easiest perceived target ? Nobody knows what either has in his bag but nobody wants to get shot either. It's the same in nature the weakest or young are most often targeted by predators. Now I'm not saying you should strut around in an urban environment with tons of people as grey cover in your gear but at the same time it very well might be the opposite in rural areas.

While I plan and train, I try to think about where I can "poof" disappear from everyone that would want to commandeer my skills and take my supplies. All of us would do well to plan for that scenario! It really depends on what you define as a SHTF scenario. I mean, if you are fighting an in a guerrilla war with an enemy that is numerically or technologically superior, the strategy you are eluding to that most people know flying low is really the only viable option. However, most people think of SHTF as a complete breakdown of society, services, and authority. This is where might makes right and you need to hold every single advantage you can for you and yours to live through it. Being dressed up in tactical gear may make people avoid you for easier targets. Not to mention, that armor serves as protection from being injured, which can kill you from either bleed-out or infections.

Very valuable post. Thanks. I imagine in any SHTF situation we may face that the most challenging thing will be accurately identifying real threats. Point taken. The conditions that exist should things go sideways will dictate the response. There's a time for full on battle rattle and there's a time for maintaining a low profile. But my primary camies is clothing with natural colors and real tree which is normal in my AO. My primary everyday and shtf weapons are defense pen, long double A flashish light, OC spray, baton ( legal in my State- and I’m a former armed security officer), Glock, and the USA One Shot non NFA pistol brace and weapon light. I normally carry 46 rounds, and would bump that to 76 as things heat up. And would carry five Glock 30 round mags in a pack when things break loose. Long gun is not always legal for carry and heavy. One Shot pistol brace is light. I have raised night tritium sights, and front sight that also has a large orange dot. I usually carry my Pistol concealed, unless going to shoot at a friends farm, but my State is also open carry. That NFA brace has completely changed the game for me with increased accuracy and distance.

Spot on Top! Once again you bring the necessary to hear information forward. The first thing that a invasion force or foreign adversary is going to target it all of the weekend warriors out there with the BRCC and Grunt Style stickers all over their super lifted truck wearing their tribute to the armed forces tshirts and hats. A foreign adversary is going to know all of the people who have gun stores and who shop at those gun stores and who are the "preppers" in the community. As someone who has fought against a foreign insurgency in Iraq, it is the most demoralizing thing to not know who is friendly and who is for. If the U.S. ever gets invaded by a foreign adversary or has a SHTF moment, the conventional military is going to have their hands full fighting that force. We, the trained and ready civilians need to be prepared to fight and survive as a clandestine insurgency force operating in the shadows and without detection from normal intel channels and observations.

#1. Learn your primitive medicine! There are lots of things easily available in nature that can help heal infection. For example, mud and charcoal. By keeping inflammation drawn out of the wound, circulation is improved, and infection can be resisted better. Pain is also reduced. There are many potent antibiotic herbs and foods, such as garlic, onion, usnea, yarrow, goldenseal, lomatium, pine/fir/spruce-needle teas, etc. #2. Three are better than one. If you have a parent, sibling, spouse, child, work to develop mutual understanding and appreciation. What you give will come back eventually.

I believe the grey man concept is what you want to work toward. Blend in. Military garb shows you rich enough to roll too. I believe that disbursed caches of food, ammo and weapons, are best preferably hardened so they can be hiding spots. Don't depend on any particular cache to survive and be available. Remember that technology needs logistics. Where are your next batteries, ammo, etc coming from. Your caches may not be usable. Can you, with your bare hands, make a knife, a fire, a shelter? No tools beside the ones you've just made.

I remember 13+ years ago when we all were going over our uniforms and gear in our state militia. Back then, multi-cam was just coming out and we were mimicking the military quite a bit. Then we realized our issue with sticking out. The modern battlefield in the United States if the SHTF is not going to look like the current Russian/Ukrainian War. Instead, it is going to be very low key and undercover. I did end up with some pretty bad ass packs before we figured all this out. All of which look very militant. Sadly, in the end... we will carry all that we have left. Gotta pretty cool LBT pack out of all of the packs I own that someone put a lot of time into. You can make it huge and it it will also pack it down to nothing. Grey Man only works until you gotta hide in the woods.

It really all depends on what type of SHTF scenario you subscribe to. If it's a foreign invasion nothing bad would come of being in kit 24/7 especially with identifying marks so people know you are resistance and there to help the community and especially if you are in a city/state that is near a line of defense. If it's our own government which is in my opinion possible but unlikely it would make sense to be on grayman gang until people are ready to make moves.

The "grey man" concept is my thought process. Defensive gear is only one part but it's a piece that I myself have become tunnel visioned on. Guns, gear, and ammo are just a very few tools needed in a bad situation. Now, I focus on things that are most likely to happen like natural disasters in the Midwest. I've survived an EF3 tornado that hit my middle school head on. Ice power outages, etc. As an Eagle Scout and Firecrafter I found myself scaling back on investing in ammo and such because I took inventory and said this is great if we are in a full on war here but what about longer term food, water, basic supplies to make what is more likely to happen easier to survive and thrive. I realized I had fallen into the gear trap. Now, I'm not going to freeze or starve to death holding a rifle with a ton of ammo. Full on gear up is the last thing I want to do because that means the walls are closing in and life is truly about to suck. Great video, thank you for making it. Love your dog.

This is exactly my camoflauge. Exactly my Ranger training. Sure... at work i will sort of wear the hunter type stuff, to kind of blend in with the locals , there are many hunter types around here. Most wouldnt know a fully trained army ranger if they were standing next to one. Keeping a low key status. I have a gun range on my property, but I dont waste tons of ammo. One mag to sight in, basically. Because in the military we were not trained to dro;p thousands of dollars of ammo on a paper target. The first shot is what matters and learning how to only use one shot is the trick. Not like on TV where they have full auto infinity count magazines. In the military, we rangers learned the high art of camo and to be out in the open, like at walmart and SHTF, dressing like the local patrons is exactly camo for the environment. The act of tactical is the art of deception, Just like this great guy says..they will least likely identify you as a target when you are playing the predator. So the way you train is each place you go to, look for your escape routes, look for places to hunker down, look for places to gain cover, plan in your mindthe events, train your thoughts how to act in a defensive, practice reflexes exercises to keep you split second manuvers, there are hundreds of actions of self defense you should learn, but the main one is never let them see you coming and the camo is out of sight and out of mind type of clothes. The people around here never would suspect I couild go full rambo . I agree look like the weekend dork office guy out hiking, the tourist fishing at the lake. Never let them think you are trained in guerilla warfare.

So much training, weapons, choice, kit, tactics and strategy are based upon your AO and scenario at hand. A pepper’s objectives are totally different to police , a civilian in normal times or a group, engaged in asymmetrical warfare versus a conventional standing military. A ballistic helmet, threat level 4 body armor, in a plate carrier while carrying an AR 10 with VPO, AP ammo and a pistol RDS on a 45° mount to go grocery shopping when civil unrest and crime is up, is to say the least and impolite and likely to get you arrested even in the freest most gun friendly of states. Yet that same set up would be very ideal when working a roadblock to keep out marauders, on the edge of a small town after being deputized by the local constabulary, in the event of a total collapse. Yet the inverse carrying a handgun under a cover garment, wearing at most a threat level three soft vest under your shirt with 4 spare mags under your cover garment on the weak side would be most appropriate to go grocery shopping with during civil unrest when crime is up. It would be most disadvantages to use that on the roadblock at edge of the small town after being deputized by the local constabulary to keep marauders out. Neither kit would be any good if you were a part of a QRF that responded to incidence during a collapse after being deputize by the local constabulary or going to a neighbors home to help them after your hear screams and gunshots or trying to get past the Panamanian paratrooper roadblock after the United States, is taken over by the imagined invader .the same goes for the training for each of those scenarios in the kit. Diversify your training, diversify your kit, but use similar weapon ,a weapons systems . What I mean by that is training, is simplified when going from an Ar10 to an Ar 15 and a Glock 48 to a glock 17 because familiarity manual of arms are the same . So diversification ,familiarity of training flexibility and intimate understanding of yours weapon systems is paramount especially when hands become big cumbersome mittens ,your heart is doing 400 beats a minute and you just crapped your pants because things have jumped off and rounds are flying at your head.
