@@thedudeisgreat 100plus thousand dollars for a half-old Audi R8? What kind of dollars are we talking about here? Sounded like the V8-version as well which is like 420hp = not a "supercar". Small house? Hm maybe, but the housing market is pretty fucked everywhere because of them yew banks so that house may well be pretty expensive. Far more expensive than a used R8 that's right side drive on top of that. Point is, most rich fux didn't exactly work as a peasant and save their dough, they got connections and jumped to the top at once. Then they go to the yew bank, get a fat loan and just let the workers take care of the rest.

The most unbelievable aspect of this, is that the damage repair would have amounted to $100,000. Front carbon parts, wheels, rear suspension on one side. Even if it required a brand new engine, that would be an absurd number. Anyway, jolly decent of him to leave such a detailed case summary for the police.
@AureliusR3 жыл бұрын
Why the hell would anyone own a car that would need $100k in repairs after this? Geez. Yeah, the front wheels being damaged I understand, as well as the clutch and transmission, but isn't it supposed to be a supercar? Isn't it *designed* to be driven insanely like this? I don't understand (beyond the physical damage) what else could possibly have gone wrong.
@benb49033 жыл бұрын

Just GOT to see this again...it just goes to show how well built these vehicles are. Full on hard braking often, singing V10 FSi. The engineering REALLY blows me away. I used to own a 2008 Q7 4.2 TDi V8 twin turbo diesel which had minor modifications which was bought to tow our 2.4 ton van. It did that with ease and very frugal on the diesel. A couple of times in the wet in remote locations well away from Brisbane, I tried to get it too loose traction and no way was the Quattro going to let go. It was a remarkable machine and I miss it a lot. The new owner loves it. I no longer need such a powerful engine.... mind you I’ve since wondered what the SQ7 is like. Crazy $$$, though, so unless it’s 10 year old there is no way I would be able to afford it. I’m surprised this guy didn’t run out of fuel. I’m sure the engine was trying to prevent engine by shutting down. These engines are so cleverly engineered. Imagine the heat build up in this engine. Pity it wasn’t in Race mode. I was actually thinking of buying my first old diesel play vehicle (a 1960 Merc). One of the reasons is because without knowledge there is about 5% chance the average thief would be able to steal it under its own propulsion. Of course at $15,000 it wouldn’t be worth stealing. What these cars need is a geofenced program to drain the fuel tank while it’s driving AND shut the fuel pump off. Then automatically send location details and the horn activate loudly.
