Trooper's Narrative: (They were both caught) On January 13th, 2023, the Van Buren Police Department had a stolen white Dodge Dart from their city. I was on patrol and observed a vehicle matching the description turning off Kelley Highway and going eastbound on Midland Blvd. I turned around and ran the license plate displayed through dispatch. Dispatch confirmed it to be the stolen vehicle out of Van Buren. I activated my lights and tried to conduct a felony stop at the Valero gas station on Midland Avenue at Spradling Avenue. The vehicle sped up and began to flee from me and turn westbound on Spradling Avenue. I notified dispatch of my location, speed and the vehicle turned eastbound on 6th Street. The vehicle was running approximately 75 MPH in 30 MPH residential zones. The vehicle turned down multiple city streets while driving very reckless on every street. The vehicle began to turn back southbound on Mussett Road from Newlon Road. As it was negotiating the turn, the vehicle struck a brick mailbox at 5101 Mussett Road and became disabled. The driver (16 year old REDACTED) and passenger (14 year old REDACTED) began to flee on foot through an alley way. I was able to place the passenger under arrest and began giving the drivers description over the radio to other troopers looking in the area. The passenger stated he wasn't injured and refused medical attention. After a short time, TFC John Bass located the driver running behind a church and was able to place him under arrest. An ambulance was called for the driver due to him complaining of injuries. TFC Shawn Ellis assisted TFC Bass walk the driver back out to the roadway. Trp. Diego arrived on scene and began working the accident scene. I drove over a few blocks to where the driver was and spoke to him in the back of the ambulance. I read the driver his rights and asked why he was running in the stolen car. The driver sated he was scared and didn't know what else to do. TFC Ellis transported the passenger to the Sebastian County Juvenile Detention Center and I followed the ambulance to the hospital with the driver. After the hospital cleared the driver and released him, I transported him to the Sebastian County Juvenile Detention Center. The driver REDACTED was charged with 27-16-602 NO LICENSE, 27-50-308 RECKLESS DRIVING, 27-50-302 LEAVING THE SCENE OF AN ACCIDENT, 5-38-302 CRIMINAL MISCHIEF, 5-54-125 FLEEING IN A VEHICLE, 5-54-125 FLEEING ON FOOT, 5-36-106 THEFT BY RECIEVING and 5-27-205 ENDANGERING THE WELFARE OF A MINOR. The passenger REDACTED was charged with 5-54-125 FLEEING ON FOOT and 5-36-106 THEFT BY RECIEVING

9:22 He says to himself that he "keeps letting this happen"...he's not planning on changing. Then when he refused to identify his friend to police, they should also charge him with obstruction of justice. He has spent most of his life doing this to get out of situations and when he's closed in a police car and there's nothing there but accountability for his own actions and facing his shame, he tries to distract himself from thinking about it with these stupid statements and mannerisms. "C'mon, bro!" I'll bet the judge wants to say that to him after seeing him over and over, too. What he wants them to "listen" to him for is a bunch of unrelated, mumbling bs irrelevant to the situation so that he can try to stall.
