My brother is getting married this Saturday and I wanted to make him a present using stone inlay. I made this walnut box with a crazy bookmatched grain pattern. I inlaid turquoise, jade and mother of pearl into the lid. Luckily I don’t think he watches my videos very often so I’m uploading it a little early haha. Watch as I show you how to inlay stone into a project and make a really cool grainmatched box.

Mr Katz Moses, I know this is an older video but one thing I love about it is the fact you use a lot of Stanley Sweetheart tools, Glue bots, Looks like a Narex marking knife and many other tools I own including every Suizan saw they make. I have owned these tools long before I knew who you were. I cannot afford Lie Nielsen, Veritas or other highend Plane and Chisels. The Stanley Sweetheart tools are amazing. Sometimes a little rough from the factory but they clean up nice for 1/3 the price. If you have ever dealt with the Gluebot company customer service they are top notch. and well Siuzan saws are just perfect in every way (except they don't make an azbeki saw.) I'm just glad you don't flaunt over priced stuff. Thank you for that.

Also, I'm very impressed with how much your video production quality has increased in only 2 years! Really nice design and build Jonathan. I like the inlay and also the mitered inset. I plan to make boxes similar soon. Can't now just had 3 surgeries. Just an idea. You tend to cut your videos short at the end. Such as: I would like to have seen the assembly of the inset maple and more information of the finish. That said, great video. Thank you.

That came out cool as always :) One other trick I have done for some of my boxes is to use a bandsaw to cut off the lid...those blades are thinner and work nicely, then some minor sanding and you are done.

Have been watching your channel for recently. Thx for your content. I try to be efficient in production process (AKA lazy) in adding the stone to the routed groves then add the epoxy on top an having a overflow before it capitulates thru the stone. Would mixing the stone into the epoxy then pour into the groves work have better control? Might not have to fight the air bubbles?

Noticed in your stop block you had Phillips screws on the front. Any particular reason you didn't go with hand adjusters so you didn't need a driver for micro adjustments? Edit: I was referring to 8:59 and had not watched the whole video yet so had not yet seen the one at 13

Have you ever used a Tacklife band saw? I bought one last year and it's the loudest and worst one I've ever had. I have to adjust the blade reels every time I use it. It sounds like a screech owl the entire time I use it. Do you know of anything else I can do to fix this? It's only a year old and I only use it maybe once a week.

Wow 😮 stone inlay the American way. That means fake!! Calling this inlay is blasphemy!!! This is casting. “Don’t make a 3D print and call your self a sculpture” And if you worry about taking to much of the box by splitting it, then learn to use a handsaw!

@Kewonerdk
@Kewonerdk 4 жыл бұрын
Jonathan Katz-Moses oh its wonderful on my wooden hand carved horse, because compared to you. At least I know I’m not either a liar nor an amateur. Because calling this inlay is showing you have no skills/knowledge about woodworking. You do know what Inlay is right? Well I can guarantee it’s not poring resin in to a hole. Dude it’s not my work I’m protecting! I’m protecting the guys who true centuries specialized in inlays, and spend years to perfect their personal skills, and people don’t use centuries for some asshole to ruin it with pouring plastic in to a hole! Call it casting, call it river wood, I don’t care! But don’t you step in on real craftsmanship and call this inlay! I actually came to this video, because I found it really interesting to see stone inlay, because after 20 years of mixed naver, boatbuilder and carpenter. I haven’t ever seen it before, or thought it was a reliable solution. I’m so tied of you wannabe American “crafts men”, you are a fucking joke! Even tho I never do this, I challenge you! I’ll make my first KZbin video, just for you! BUT it’s you and me against each other, building a rocking horse, so you have a horsy to sit on too(don’t worry I’ll give your mine, because you have no chance), using absolutely no power tools! Take the challenge, and let me show you how I deserve my place on a real woodworking horse. Answer this and I’ll give you all my info, e mail, address, name and what ever you need, I’m so tied of American KZbin hand craft posers! And before you criticize my languages skills, then be free to answer me in one of my other 4 spoken languages. You wouldn’t last a day on my workplace, maybe that’s a lie, because people like you can always be used for sweeping the floor! But I am pretty impressed, you actually had the skill to hold on to the chisel. Everybody let’s give Mr pretend A lot, a hand. I’ll bet he actually fool someone that’s his a craftsman, and he actually have skill. I watched a couple of videos, and you are a joke, and I have no idea why you post this shit! And of cause I do, because Americans have no idea on how bad building standards they have, windows for a house were I’m from, coast on average the same as a house in UNITED STATE OF SHIT. PLEASE TAKE MY CHALLENGE! I would really like to make a huge fool out of a piece of shit like you! And then you can join the adult club, we will accept that you use a rocking horse, because we are used to American plastic shit and behavior, that does absolutely no good for the human existence! MERICA!!! FUCKING HILLBILLY! Oh sorry you clearly don’t have the intelligence to be a hillbilly!
