Previously I've had 10 years of surgery for repeated patellas then removal of the patella. Friday I discoverer after an injury my meniscus is completely missing. Worn out, at 42 I require a full knee replacement, issue my knee surgery has made the mapping inside the knee non standard and the other I d9nt want it. Damn....I need an out of the box solution. As my knee doctor said, " I completely shredded my meniscus. Meaning, I have bone on bone with little to no pain. I know its weird. Hello there. Sorry to hear of the trouble with your meniscus. That's not unusual advice as many orthopaedists are hesitant with meniscus transplants. However, few, if any, surgeons have performed more meniscus transplants than Dr. Stone. We've had tremendous outcomes and conducted numerous published clinical research studies on the technique. The grinding you're experiencing may be wearing down your articular cartilage and further reducing your joint space. So you dont trim large tears in a meniscus then? Dont you replace the torn tissue and fill the gap with a collagen meniscus graft ? Or you used to? Hello, Jewell. Dr. Stone has performed this procedure on patients in their 20s up to patients in their 60s. For patients even later in their years, we often use robotic knee replacement as the rehab required is much easier. For the BioKnee, more healing and rehab is required which is not always advisable for patients 70+. It was stuck for 7 months, then I had arthroscopic surgery in 2022, found scar tissue, torn cartilage and one bone looks like a cobble street so my knee still doesn’t bend and when my leg is “straight” my knee bulges out.
