I really like this, with Lucy swimming you’re showing that a little bit of pressure is not a bad thing! And can really open a dog up. Reasonable, fair and fun. Good job lil red pup!!!

I got a new labrador puppy and my neighbour has a dog that isnt very well trained, should i avoid going out with this dog until i have a training base? will this cause bad behaviour to rub off on my puppy if she sees this other dog barking like an ass or not walking in a respectful way. ??? we love to walk with each other but im worried about the effect it would have on my puppy.

Hey Stonnie! I love your videos and work. I am about to get a Female Black American Labrador and I have watched all of your "training your Labrador retriever puppy part 1-12". Which part did you find yourself spending the most time on? Thanks and keep doing what you do!!

Hi Stonnie! Can you do a video with your whistle recall training?
@kicknadeadcat5 жыл бұрын
It’s easy.. first you need to teach the dog recall with a marker word like come. Call your dogs name when he looks at you say come. Say it with excitement. When he comes give him a treat. Do this a couple of hundred times till he has it down. Once he has it down add the whistle after you call his name then say come. After a couple hundred repetitions he’ll recognize the whistle, and he’ll anticipate the word come is right behind it

Is Lucy a Vizslador (Vizsla / Labrador mix )? Super nice dog.

Hey Stonnie! In a future video could you address injuries? My setter cut her paw just before grouse season started here in Michigan. She kept bothering with it so I put a cone on her. It’s tough having a high energy dog stuck inside in a cone to heal. Thanks!

That would be a great video. Cone life is hard. Our boy got into turkey mites and that led to a rough three weeks. Huge set back in training.

Hey stonnie I have a chocolate lab that was a washout from a service dog family. I was wondering if you could give me any tips on speeding up obedience training. It seems as though my lab is taking forever at calming down and focusing on me. He can do anything with treats but when it comes to walks all that goes out the window.

As always an AWESOME video with lots of tips! I have one question how can I get my dog to not be afraid of the sweeper? I trained him not to be afraid of gun fire, fireworks, loud noise's, but if someone comes at me with a sweeper, I'm in trouble, lol HELP!

We haven't had a puppy since 1992. We got a Golden Retriever on August 10 from a family (dad gave the dog to his daughter as a surprise -- never a good idea) and they really didn't want him. Our rescued Golden died on 4/1/19 from kidney failure and lymphoma recurrence. We had him for 9 years and was 17 months old when we got him -- he was our 4th Golden and was really well trained and we never really had to do much managing - he never ate anything he shouldn't, didn't chew on things he shouldn't and came in the second he was called. We could leave him out in our yard while he wandered around and played with toys or we played with him. This boy is so different -- almost too excited by food and because he was left in a yard for a month with no toys or humans, he entertains by eating things he shouldn't (like the bark off of the trees or the painted bark from the planter beds) and just stares at us when we call him in. I stumbled on your videos and LOVE the way you train and have learned a lot in just a few videos. You really are a great trainer ... I wish I lived closer so that I could bring him to you! You have REALLY taught me to be really aware of my mood when I am training. Thank you!

Can someone educate me on the white spot on the chest area of the pup? I see where the original line of lab had this. Is this why? Thanks

Love your videos! I have a 10 week old american black lab and also I have adopted my adult daughter's 1 year old black lab mix. I am following all your training tips. Each dog is good separately but together they play fight constantly so I have to separate them at times throughout the day. Is there anything I can do so that they can can used to each other quicker? I am thinking the answer is more exercise!

We have a 10 month old English yellow lab named Sky that looks just like the one in your video here. I have been watching your videos since she was 3 months old & have been attempting to train her with your methods. Our issue is that I have never seen a dog as energetic & truly wild as our pup is! She will literally not slow down. We can work her for an hour, fetching & exercising, giving her plenty of time to run around our acre of property & she is still wild. She wants to nip at our hands & will not stay in a sitting position when in heel. She wants to immediately drop down & lay on her back, then jump up & run like crazy. It's getting quite tough as she is getting big & tends to hurt us with her crazy behavior. Not sure what to do about her endless energy. Any suggestions?

More exercise would be my do to strategy. If you are having trouble getting enough exercise, then you are going to have to learn a little more in terms of dog training strategy and technique.

Have you tried a weighted doggie backpack? I’ve seen many people use this as it makes the dog feel they’ve got a job and you can also fill it with goodies (heavy goodies) that can tire them out faster? Haven’t tried it myself but like that they can carry their own stuff 😂

Stonnie i love your videos!! But im getting a dog in a week! What do i do at nights when it needs to go potty but its in its cage!!?????
@lisalarson1155 жыл бұрын
When you hear him whine or cry in the middle of the night, get up and take him out to potty.
@brandimt5905 жыл бұрын
I had to take my 8 week old 2-3 times during the night. Now he is 13 weeks and he doesn’t need to go out until 4am. Soon he will be able to hold it. But I agree with the other comment. Just take her out if she gets up.
