Hey Scott and Sasha - Barry and Carol here. We met at the truck camper rally in 2021 and then 2022 . Can’t wait to head back to Quartzsite for 2023! Looks like a full house this year. Love the flatbed ( jealous) . Safe travels! B&C

We're still here! I needed to take a break from the weekly grind of making videos. We drove from Michigan to AZ to start new jobs, and then decided that AZ wasn't the right spot and will be heading back to Texas soon. So, we've been very busy and recovering from burnout.

Great video. This is all helpful as we have a 2021 Ram 5500 we are getting ready to full time with our new Kingstar truckcamper. Have you explored a way to run the electrical wires for the new BT7 so it doesnt clutter up the dash? Keep the videos coming!
@Stonyboot Жыл бұрын
Glad that it was helpful. And congratulations on you’re new Kingstar! As for power to the dash, you can snake it up behind the plastic. But I chose not to because it would require drilling a hole. I just have it running next to the dash in a small grove. Let me know if you come up with a more elegant solution.

The lag difference, in addition to the newer faster electronics in the newer unit, the speed affected by the fact the old unit is using a single antenna which means the the communications has to run in in a duplex mode where as the two antennas you have a separate transmit and receive...... being a ham radio person we see this a lot especially when crossbanding.......
@Stonyboot Жыл бұрын
It sounds like you know a thing or two! That reminds me, I still have to install these cameras. It's been running 100-110f in Texas for a while and my desire to do outdoor work has been limited. They will get installed eventually though!
@ourtimetorv3151 Жыл бұрын
Thx Scott. Good review. Did u happen to see any info in the materials about the camera base being a direct replacement for a Furrion camera? Or one of the plates provided adapting to Furrion. I like the bigger brighter screen with more contrast than the one that came with my camper. Hope all is well.
@Stonyboot Жыл бұрын
They will replace the Furrion system. From what I've read, they have an adapter cable (probably in the box) that will adapt to a factory installed Furrion camera system.

Thanks for all of your videos. I've just gone through your vids from the start and I'm looking forward to more content. By the way, what are you doing for RV safe navigation? I've been using the RV Life app on my phone but it is a little sketchy where I live. Garmin makes some that incorporate cameras which sounds like a cool option.

Awesome! We have a camera on the back of our travel trailer. It worked good until I put a tall aluminum cap our truck. Now I keep losing the signal. This camera might work.

Saw you have an Anderson weight distribution /anti-sway hitch, how do you like it?
@Stonyboot Жыл бұрын
Love it. I’m going to be making an update video about my towing setup. I recently installed the Torklift SuperHitch and SuperTruss and it’s amazing. The Anderson Hitch has been great. But I do have some questions about it. After 4000 miles of towing, I would buy it again.

Great comparison, Scott. How does the pairing compare between the two? My Voyager sometimes unpairs and won't reconnect, particularly when the camera has been on for a few hours.
@Stonyboot Жыл бұрын
Pairing was instant, I didn't have to do anything. It auto-detects the camera. However, when I get the system actually installed, I'll probably have to fiddle with which channel the cameras are on. I'll do another video when I get it installed.

The heat from the sun will make the glue let go so when you park you truck put a reflection type sun shield inside your truck that’s what I had to do to keep the mount attached to dash . My truck is older and don’t have that shelf on my dash.

I added a much taller antenna to our camera on the back of or 5th wheel. It helped but did not eliminate all the lag.

Great review, The old monitor looks better and easier for the driver to push the buttons the BT7 Camera is better. Can you use the old monitor with the new camera?
@Stonyboot Жыл бұрын
Unfortunately, the new cameras are not compatible with the older display. I actually prefer the buttons on the new monitor. I’ll touch on that topic in the next video.

What you're really seeing is one cheap processor/gpu vs. an even cheaper one. Frame rates tell all. The wifi isn't the problem.
@Stonyboot Жыл бұрын
Agreed. I have a couple of questions that I skipped over in the video. I've noticed that the MC7109 will lag much harder in certain areas, this leads me to believe that the data rate from the camera is lowered due to RF interference. As for the consistent lag, that appears to be related to how fast scene changes. At low speeds or if there is very little visual information, the lag isn't too bad. At higher speeds, with lots of road texture, rain, snow, cars, etc, the lag gets worse. That makes senes because the compressed images/video will be at a higher bitrate. The BT7 is certainly an upgrade over the MC7109. I'll be curious to see it's performance once I get both cameras setup. Also, I counted while editing, it runs at about 15 FPS with some strange frame blending.

The system does support 4 cameras, so I could do a 360 view. I've decided not to do that for several reasons that will become obvious in the next 1-2 months. I really like the 360 systems I see on newer cars, so cool!!!

Well crap. I wanted to be able to record (720 version) and I don't want more holes in my camper. It's really sad they don't have an upgraded camera (attached to marker light) for the new 1080 system.
