This is/was one of my favorite local hikes. I now live in eastern Switzerland, but used to live in Zürich. From here it is complicated to get to Stoos, but it is easy from Züri. So this hike is not so much on my radar as in the past. One thing to note, the funicular is closed down occasionally for maintenance ... but there is also a cable car from Morschach to Stoos, and the maintenance of the cable car and funicular at offset in times so at least one is running. Morschach is accessible by car or bus from Brunnen on the northeast end of Vierwaldstättersee (Lake Lucerne to Englich speakers).
