Plastic pipettes are really useful in resin casting. When pushing or squeezing isn’t working, you can use a clean, empty pipette to get bubbles out by squeezing the bulb before you dip it in the resin and placing the tip against the bubble. Slurps them right out! I use 3 ml pipettes to pre-fill the edges of larger molds and 0.5 ml and 0.2 ml pipettes to fill small, shallow molds and extract bubbles from tight spots where a larger pipette would displace the resin too much and make it spill out.

Actually i do clean my pipettes ! The trick to do it is to clean it before the resin cures I use resin cleaner but alcohol also work! I fill the pipette with alcohol and push it out and do this several times until it’s clean! And sometimes I leave the alcohol overnight it’s works so perfectly

I've seen several resin coffin trinket boxes and they are very dark and gothic, which is obviously intentional on the part of the people who made them. I really liked your idea of the flowers 😍. Great too about the pipette. I have some of these, I've used them to give medication to baby hedgehogs. It never occurred to me to use them for art😃
@tazminmoore4554 жыл бұрын
Do you mean you have a mum and babies? It is very common for Hedgehogs to have late litters in the autumn. Unfortunately, the babies are too small to survive the winter, can't gain enough weigh to get through hibernation as their natural resources have declined. They will most likely did unless over wintered. Even if the winter is mild they will have heavy parasite burdens and associated of It infections. Sorry to be the harbinger of doom. 😥. If you can ascertain whether you do , in fact, have baby hedgehogs then they could be taken to a rescue local to where you live for B&B during the winter.

I love the coffin Steve, never been a fan of them, with the dark colours etc, m but doing it with clear resin and flowers, actually has worked really well - thats another flipping mold I have to buy again now lol. I will have to try those next time I cast halloween cat keychains because for the life of me, even with warming, letting resin sit a bit, using the low velocity heat gun, I still end up with at least one of the paws or the tip of the tail with a bubble in the corner. Your videos are very clear and concise, thank you. Also loved your earlier tip in another video on using sandwich storage bags to keep silicone molds clean & from drying out.

Great tips as always, and beautiful results! I'm thinking strongly of getting a pressure pot. I have a vacuum chamber, but I hear that those aren't ideal for resin due to overflow bubbling. I also have some percussion vibrators to put in a box to use as a tale for degassing larger items.

Question if I may, I recently got in to resin casting using molds and wood etc, i'm having an issue with the wood though, I find that when I use colours it bleeds in to the wood and ruins the piece. I'm going to try doing a coat of UV resin first to try and "seal" the end grain, just a thin layer with a small paint brush and set it. Do you think that will work? Otherwise, do you have any other suggestions? Thank you for your time.

Helpful tip for corners! I’m actually having issues with tips on molds. (Sharp : spikes, bullet mold etc ) any suggestions ? ( about 3 inches deep)
@anondecepticon Жыл бұрын
I left my own comment about this, but you can use 0.5 ml or 0.2 ml pipettes to push resin into small, tight spaces or suck the bubbles out after you pour them. They have much narrower tips than the 3 ml pipette he uses in the video and work better for small, shallow or detailed molds with tight points and corners.

Hey! I found using a syringe for fiddly pieces handy - these are the type I mean: www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B00WTIUFGU/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_MIUKFbEDW7WD8 You can clean them out pretty easily with a bit of isopropyl and a paperclip (for the nozzle). Also, pouring slowly from a silicone jug a few inches above the mould in a thin stream helps reduce bubbles 🙂

Mine came completely clean. Takes less than 5 minutes
