I don't care what manufacturer found themselves in this massive engine failure fiasco, and if I owned one of their trucks , there is NO WAY I would accept their solution of Re Building a Brand New Engine . There is a massive class action Law Suit coming against Toyota, and they are going to lose a lot of their customer base because of it.

When I posted about the Tundra's technical issues, they attacked me personally, and the admin gave me a warning because they considered my post negative and thought I had an agenda. I am a Toyota owner, but I will not accept bad products regardless of the brand. I am not loyal to any brand; I will only buy products with good engineering, quality, and customer service.

Also notice that even tho the 24s are starting to blow up, there's no recal on them. That's because you can't sell a vehicle with a saftey recall on it unless it's fixed. And they can't fix this. So they left the 24s off the recall to move them off the lot. Kicking the can down the road and dealing with it later.

RXs are solid. 2010 Lexus GX to replace 4 runner… probably pushing $70k at the time outstanding suv 2018 Lexus LX had to get the LX. It’s. Tank w the 5.7L v8. Still own. 2020 Toyota RAV4 for nanny. Sold one year later in the middle of the pandemic. Nanny had quit and did not need the car. Made $15k gain. Unbelievable I am responding to your video because you are absolutely correct. I would have replaced my LX this year with 80k miles but will not buy the new engines until proven reliable. I pay a premium and expect it to perform as such. I think those short blocks that Toyota so graciously supplies are STILL afflicted with a design flaw bigger thsn just "debris " because they're still failing. And yes, excluding the hybrid is sleight of hand, because its the SAME core engine. Toyota dealer techs HATE this job. Something you touched on is really a huge chunk of the problem with all these crappily bottle built vehicles with subpar quality parts: most modern "mechanics" can't fix them cause they're not skilled/educated/experienced enough, and most old school mechanics who are those things can't fix them either cause they're too damn complicated or the parts are impossible to get is you're not a dealership (and even for them it's hard). Basically we had both things happen at the same time: vehicles are of overall lower quality and less durable and reliable than they used to be AND they got way harder to fix/get parts for.

Jason, you see the half empty glass when it comes to the dealership technicians putting the engines back together. After the third or fourth they will be well practiced and with the number of Tundras having problems they will get through those practice engines quickly. 😃 Maybe, Toyota is running an elaborate educational experiment for the dealership technicians. 😃
@Jason-Samko
@Jason-Samko 23 күн бұрын
😂 it's simple math. The complexity of this motor and work environment these have to be preformed in is not correct for this type of job. It would be like a foot doctor doing heart surgery in an alley with kitchen utensils. Even if they had the correct facilities to do this I bet it's 2 out of 5 techs that could do it right. And zero out of 5 would make it as good as the factory did.
@is6566
@is6566 22 күн бұрын
Agree. It’s the factory’s job. Even if the technician is the same quality tradesman as the technician in the factory, the factory’s technician builds engines every day and doesn’t do anything else. The technician in the dealership has to be a generalist and doesn’t build engines often enough to become really good at it no matter his ambitions and willingness to learn. There is a reason why, if you need a surgery, you should go to a specialist surgeon doing large number of the same procedures every year that you need.

Toyotards will defend their brand and the markups they pay up by saying that the car will last them a lifetime and more. Repeat a bunch of phrases like "great reliability" and "great resale value", disregard any sort of criticism and talk down about any other automaker when it comes to comparisons because that's how their thought process works. You gotta hand it to Toyota though, they really did their marketing and advertising right through generations and in turn it worked out perfectly for them because they now have an army of brainwashed folks who won't second guess a Toyota product. Hopefully those same people will learn that whatever automakers they align themselves to, is in fact a business.

@Jason-Samko
@Jason-Samko 23 күн бұрын
All we know so far is toyota has de tuned the power output of the tacoma motor now so that the motor doesn't blow the Trans or front diff apart. Thry did this with a software change to the auto and with the manual they are knocking down the power output. Basically making the motor weaker to meet the weaker Trans and front diff.
@valdius85
@valdius85 22 күн бұрын
@@Jason-Samko As an "ignorant engineer", I would desing the drivetrain to fit the torque that comes out of the engine. Especially that TFL used the tires that came with the vehicle. None: tire drastically changes the max grip and as such influncenses the max torque that the component experience. The explanation of "user choose the wrong off road setting" is very interesting story. Especially in the context of a BOF off road truck. Sometimes engineers use "interesting" as a synonym for BS. :)
@Jason-Samko

I own a 2002 Land Cruiser with 230k miles & 1993 Toyota Pickup with 330k miles. The ONLY thing Toyota had going for it for decades was reliability & longevity. They did not do anything better than the competition except in these 2 fields. It is becoming very clear that reliability & longevity are VERY compromised in all the new low quality complex JUNK Toyota is making since they dropped the legendary naturally aspirated V8 & V6. Meaning Toyota right now literally has nothing going for it. For example, the Wrangler Rubicon was always wayyyyy more capable off road & offer alot more than a 4Runner; better approach angle, departure angle, ground clearance, suspension travel, serious off road features like real front locker, Sway bar disconnect...etc However, many guys went for 4Runner because of the MASSIVE difference in reliability & longevity. But since this is absolutely no longer the case, what would make anyone go for a 4Runner instead of a Wrangler now?

I am a big Toyota fan, but I have some strong criticisms about their recent decisions, especially with the Tundra. While I like the new Tacoma and have only a few minor complaints about it, the Tundra is a different story. Its exterior design is unappealing, and even after three years, I still can't get used to how it looks. Additionally, the Tundra isn't very DIY-friendly, which is a major downside for those of us who prefer to handle maintenance ourselves. Even if Toyota addresses all the issues with the Tundra, it won't have good resale value because it will be expensive to repair and maintain. I think Toyota's engineers have lost their way with the new Tundra, and the outcry over the new Tacoma seems somewhat exaggerated at this point.

I am a Toyota owner (Tacoma and GM vehicles) but they need to do better. Can’t get blown away by Ford and GM. I think part of the issue is Toyota doesn’t sell crate motors unlike the domestics. Therefore they would have to pull from the line itself once the fix is in. I’m sure that would cause issues for production. Either way they need to figure it out as they are flushing a hard earned reputation built over decades.

The last debacle was 3 weeks and a turbo charger replacement that didn’t resolve the issue. The funny part was a google search of the DTC said it’s not the turbo replace the hose but the dealer was to arrogant to listen. It’s not the manufacturer as I noticed the paperwork stated the hose was inspected per manufacturer request prior to turbo.
