Oxalic acid works more like that. It literally takes your calcium and other nutrients out of your body and, over the years, it also crystallizes in the form of kidney stones. Almonds are a high-oxalate food. Anti-nutrients are a very important yet ignored topic.
@lahelalala Жыл бұрын
This is the second time I heard someone use anti nutrients as an argument against veganism as if meat is a better alternative. A quick google search tells people that proper food preparation is key to lessening the effects of oxalate. Also, a low oxalate diet is only recommended to those who experience frequent oxalate kidney stones or have certain genetic and digestive disorders. When you talk about the devastating effects of the meat industry and consuming meat versus anti-nutrients, it does seem like a petty argument.

Im back to dairy milk that I drink minimally. I learned cheese isn’t a problem either when I started avoiding grain. I don’t think oat milk raises sugar to coke levels, but it is double what dairy milk does, w/o the protein and fats to really slow it down digestion. Fiber yes but I don’t think it’s significant amount to help since it’s 60 or so on the glycemic index. It depends on your insulin sensitivity. I just noticed on its own, it upset my stomach like other high carb starchy foods. Caucasians have developed a tolerance over time but 33% of people with European ancestory are also lactose intolerant. Also the health information on dairy is that it's very risky e.g. women suffer from diseases from having high oestrogen levels (from pregnant and lactating animals) and according to a 20 year Swedish study on milk intake and mortality dairy is associated with more fractures - which might be to due to the galactose in the milk - as evidence shows it causes bone loss (osteoporosis) in people who don't have the enzyme to detoxify from it. I'm not allergic but I would never touch dairy milk - especially when the phytoestrogens in soya milk are proven to be so healthy.

I hate when people tell vegans that basically no matter what they do, animals are going to die anyway. The basics of veganism is that you do the least amount of harm possible. Meaning we choose to not allow dairy cows to suffer and have their babies ripped from them at birth, and be repeatedly pregnant over the course of their lives without any benefit of actually experiencing motherhood u til they’re too old/worn out, instead we choose the almond milk that may have some smaller animal casualties. So the argument of bees dying to harvest almonds or whatever is a moot point.

Nothing in the stores are "clean". To make products, the machines to be made, factories, transportation of products, produce plactics, plastic coating on the cartons, dyes to make the pretty colors that catch our attention. Pesticides, chemical fertilizers used on produce.

I'm not a vegan or vegetarian, but I make a conscious effort limit my consumption of animal products and avoid foods with highly processed ingredients and preservatives. A great brand of oat milk that only has three ingredients is original "Oat Malk" - filtered water, organic, gluten-free oats, and Himalayan pink salt. Simple and tasty.

@eyeswideopen2043 Жыл бұрын
@@PillofPerspective No it isn't. You can, for example, get all the calcium you need from green leafy vegetables. In fact, vegetables are a much better way to get calcium since cow's milk leeches calcium from the bones. One of best things you can do for health is to get off all Dairy. Oh, and raw milk carries huge risk of salmonella and other such nasties. If dairy is bad in pasteurised form it doesn't become beneficial by skipping pasteurisation- its's bad for humans period.

Oxalates is a gut problem. You should avoid oxalates if you are having problems with it, but it doesn’t help in the long run. A lot of healthy foods like kale have oxalates. You need to heal your gut so that you have the bacteria, enzymes and acids to break down all these compounds. And you need to increase your gut barrier mucous layer thickness so that undigest foods and toxins don’t enter the body. There are ways to cook foods to reduce oxalates. Oaks does not increase blood sugar, it’s the opposite. But you drink conventional oats milk with industrial ingredients and preservative, it might raise your blood sugar. Ever heard of the oatmeal cure for diabetes?

I don't drink almond milk but I still have joint pain. How do you explain that? I'm lactose intolerant. So cow's milk is a no no. What should I drink?
@j.w8680Ай бұрын
Joint pain can be because of lectins in the diet. I peel and remove seeds from my tomatoes and I very rarely get joint-pain now. Some people find avoiding night-shade veg can help, too. I make my own almond/other nuts milk. I get organic ones when I can afford it. Soak first and then slip off the skins& discard soaking water). Grind finely and then whizz up in a high-speed blender. I use about 1 cup almonds to 2 cups of water and a pinch of salt. Some people prefer it a little sweeter, but I'm happy with it like this. You can add a splash of maple syrup to it to sweeten it, if you prefer, but not necessary. If none of this works ask your Dr. to run tests to see if you have arthritis/another condition. Joint pain can be caused by Vitamin D deficiency, as well as other conditions.
