The artificial wax is a replacement of the natural wax that is washed away during harvesting. I want to emphasize that chemicals and synthetic does not mean unhealthy. Just as naturally occurring in nature does not mean safe. Poison exists cyanide is in most nuts and apple seeds. A tiny amount of food grade wax is used making it safe and totally edible. For comparison thats like worrying about getting radiation poisoning from a banana. Or getting scared from accidentally eating an apple seed. The amount eaten is also important, note that with how little there is. Even if it was slightly harmful you'd be safe. But this is proven safe for human consumption. You'd probably be more hurt by a single beer in comparison. I want to point out this is done to maintain freshness. By protecting it from drying out, nutrient loss and stops microorganisms from entering it. While also preventing mold from growing on the apple. It has a legit purpose without harm on your health. I would say wash it and then feel free to eat your apple. But if it's that much of an issue. You can remove wax from apples by boiling water with 1/4 cup of vinegar and dipping the apples in the pot for about 10 seconds. Then, use a clean, coarse towel to wipe off the wax. This means you can enjoy the nutrients from the apple skin. While enjoying wax free and even more clean apples. Maybe rinse off the vinegar a bit more though haha.

Organic Apples are not waxed! they produce their own wax compounds ( like all apples) but they are not mass produced like the “pesticide/apples” you are eating, so they’re no need to “face” them so they look better. If you eat conventional fruits , you should totally remove the skin off. Do yourself, and the environment a favor, and eat organic produce.

Dude, don’t encourage people, I don’t think you’re a doctor or a scientist cause they wouldn’t say that. Organic food AND conventional food both have the same risk, and honestly eating one over the other doesn’t really change anything, it doesn’t “help” the environment cause it still needs to be shipped in cargos across oceans, or planes, and trucks are used so they can travel to the grocery stores so you can buy them. So yeah, very little difference. Organic foods are also more expensive, and for those who read statements like yours and they’re not financially stable, they’ll likely now wanna choose organic because they’ll now think conventional produce is poison when it’s clearly safe to eat.
@Bigmommashouse31727 күн бұрын
@@Blazearc5 In the U.S., staggering amounts of pesticides are applied annually-approximately 1 billion pounds of pesticides are used across agricultural and non-agricultural settings each year. Much of this is absorbed into the soil, depleting essential minerals, contaminating groundwater and affecting nearby ecosystems. The overuse of pesticides also contributes to the rise of resistant pests, leading to a cycle of even heavier chemical use. This over-reliance harms not only the soil but also the long-term sustainability of agriculture. To protect our soil and environment, it’s essential to adopt more sustainable practices, such as integrated pest management (IPM) and organic farming methods.

I did not know they were doing this to organic I thought organic meant that it was naturally occuring. We need we need what naturally occurs on the skin because that's where our b vitamin comes from. This wax issue is somewhat of a debacle I just scraped off what might be wax from my organic Apple. I just want my food undisturbed my what nature brought but I do know that we do need to preserve all the food that we can to detour from starvation issues. Peeling the Apple for me it's not an option because it has the most nutrients that we need. Thank you for this informative I respect.

We don’t have that coating on our fruit in the UK but I still always peel my apples! I never used to, and I actually felt quite guilty about it when I started peeling them cus we’re always told the skin has the most nutrients in the fruit/veg, but seeing someone so fit & healthy saying they don’t eat the skin either makes me feel much better! 😅 I actually thought you were going to say you peel them as the skin is hard to digest and can cause pain & discomfort in our digestive system. It was when I was diagnosed with IBS that my mum, who also has it, recommended I peel my apples (and cucumber, pears etc) and it should reduce the amount of cramps I was getting. She was right!
@OrionBlaze24 күн бұрын
Apples naturally produce their own wax to stay fresh. Some companies after washing during processing, add a tiny amount of food-safe wax back to protect them from drying out and spoiling. This wax is completely safe, regulated by health authorities, and has been used for decades without issues. It doesn’t get absorbed by your body and passes through harmlessly. If you’re still paranoid, you can easily remove it by washing the apple with warm water and a bit of baking soda or vinegar. Peeling them is unnecessary and wastes all the amazing nutrients in the skin. Stop fearmongering people for views please and have some trust in our institutions!
