Rage bait is pretty much 90% of twitter now. When I'm scrolling through the Timeline, most posts are blue checkmarks sharing absolutely insane opinions or saying objectively wrong things, and it's usually just for people to disagree with them in the comments.

Those who base their content solely on making people angry won't last forever. You can fool people for a certain time but at some point people just get bored of it and move on. It easy money for them. I guarantee you, producing good content that keeps people hooked and creates a loyal fan base is a harder but a far better way forward and it will earn you a good living in the long run and maybe even lead to great opportunities. I hate rage bait, but you're right about it being an interesting development. Newspapers have been doing it for decades already, we all know a sensational headline sells papers, rage bait is just the social media version of the same tactic. From a psychology perspective it's really clever, humans naturally pay more attention to things that provoke anger or fear, it's a survival instinct. I don't blame content creators for doing it since the algorithms make this content the most desirable but I really do wish it would stop, mostly because it clogs up my feeds with shit that isn't real. There's also the fact it's deceptive, a lot of people don't know what's happening and believe the rage bait is true. This can create dangerous situations, after seeing it enough people can be mad enough to actually act on these posts instead of just commenting on them. I've even seen a parent using their child to make rage bait and get engagement, this kid is getting abuse in the comments section. It's unethical and harmful in many ways, I feel like there needs to be a crackdown on it now because it's just gone way too far.

The least harmful rage-bait, arguably, is the cooking/DIY category, and it's STILL incredibly harmful. Children might watch one of those videos and get food-poisoning or burn their fingers on hot glue while trying to recreate something. Honestly? If one of those "interviewers" approached me in public, I'd be pretty shaken up. My husband, on the other hand, would absolutely lose his mind. He is extremely triggered by people forcibly encroaching on his personal space due to Bad Stuff in his past and if someone barged their way over to him, asked a really aggravating question in a demanding tone and shoved a camera inches from his nose, that camera would be shoved directly down the person's throat before my husband even had a chance to process what he was doing. You have no idea who you're potentially triggering when you do stuff like this, it's so irresponsible, not to mention a terrible violation of someone's boundaries and their right to be in public without harassment!

I was kinda hoping the Sidemen videos would be safe from his trolling, but no. In the calorie video a few weeks back (probably their biggest stinker in years), he screams DanTDM at one point, then in a fifa video a few days ago he made his character called DanTDM. Just makes me want to skip past any point of a video where he's in it. A person who I've grown up watching who's known for funny and goofy acts and personas, now is a man in his 30's selling his dignity for money and success that he doesn't need. He's essentially reached Saudi league status.
