If this is an actual 59-year-old man doing this, there is NO argument to be made that it's a fetish or "age-play," NOT when you're involving real children. i myself am a child in the uk and am scarily close to where he has been seen. the whole situation has terrified me so much that (although it sounds stupid) i can’t sleep with the light off anymore, am constantly checking the corners of my room and i triple check that my door is locked every single night. my parents arent very good with technology so ive been constantly checking my younger sisters phone to make sure no sick disgrace of a human being is talking to her weirdly and ive taken it upon myself to make her aware of everything that could happen on the internet because if anything happens to that girl i will not forgive myself for letting it. i have experienced being groomed and dealt with a predator and i dont want anyone else to have to deal with that shit

When you’re a lonely child, especially with a difficult life, ANYONE is important to you. You don’t care really who it is. You just NEED connection, like anyone else. Abusers know exactly what to say to you to make you feel special and seen and important, and when you’re desperate for that anyway, you’re screwed. Take this as an opportunity to learn about internet safety, and softly tell your parents what you heard. Unless they might not take it well (look after yourselves). I just wanted to say Cam, I really appreciate you talking about your experiences here as a fellow victim. I know exactly what you mean about it making you feel validated when you're a kid. It happened to me over and over and over again, particularly shortly after I came out as trans and faced ostracism locally. I appreciate you speaking about this, because gr0*ming is about cultivating a feeling of complicity in the victim to make them blame themselves, and I carry that burden with me constantly. Hearing you say it here makes me feel less sick and quietens the internalised victim blaming. Equally, I want to say that you're not to blame either. We were kids, we didn't know better and we had no power in our respective situations. I don't know exactly what you've been through, but it does sound very similar to my trauma. You're not alone, and as much as it sucks that so many people have had their lives altered by this trauma, it helps to know that you're not alone. Look after yourself, because situations like this can retraumatise you on an insidious level beyond your notice. Don't be afraid to lean on people close to you, it's ok to not be ok. I hope you're doing as well as can be expected under the circumstances. Don't engage with this subject any more than your mental health allows. God bless you mate.

I'm 42, so I had like dial up AOL back in the 90s, and we were so stupid. We would just go into chatrooms, state our age and gender, and all these creepy adult men would just start talking to us, and they were straight up honest about their age and still said perverted things. Back then, it wasn't as easy to send pictures/videos, so luckily, I never got any unsolicited videos or pics, but I def got groomed.
