Recently stumbled upon this podcast. The general knowledge I've obtained from personal trainers, other KZbin videos, forums on how to lose weight goes against everything I've learned from this podcast but guess what? I'm up 12 pounds in muscle and down 9% body fat because of the knowledge I've gained from this podcast. Eating more calories, and building muscle is shredding the fat off of my body and I would have never gone this route if it wasn't for this podcast. Everything else I've tried just didn't work or wasn't sustainable. Thank you guys for your helpful information! Goodluck to everyone in their journey!

@@TomCaliendo sure! Learning that I need to speed up my metabolism and in order to do so I need to eat more calories. Staying in a calorie deficit and cardio will only get me so far but in order to focus on losing fat I should eat more and lift weights/build muscle. And ITS WORKING!

This video pretty much describes me. I'm 5'2" and around 215 Ibs. Medically I'm told I need to weigh 130ish Ibs to be healthy. I've been doing a powerlifting routine consistently 4x a week since December. I do cardio for an hour a few times a week and also do some hiking on the weekends. My weight hasn't really changed at all, but I've lost a whole jeans size since December. I can actually see the muscle gain. My butt has completely changed in shape. I actually feel my butt muscles when walking. I can flex my chest muscles and biceps which I couldn't do before. A few weeks ago I put my body weight scale away so I don't get frustrated and derail my muscle building progress.

60 year old who just found you guys in the last month. This conversation is exactly where I am in my journey. I've been listening to you guys for awhile, since September last year. At the time I was 346 pounds and really desperate to lose weight. After awhile of listening to mind pump I've started anabolic. In honesty I couldn't keep myself consistent on the program for awhile but the last month and a half I finally was able to not miss any days. Right now I'm 326 pounds and I feel stronger than I ever have. I never thought at my weight I'd be able to do push ups but now i can do 13 push ups out in one go. Thanks lots for the advice 👍

We came here for the fitness advice but I wanted to call out the good vibes I always leave with on family values. You guys make parenting and prioritizing family sound cool - such a positive message in a society often focused on the superficial. 👍🏼👍🏼

Preface: I'm a big mind pump fan. I run a modified version of MAPS anabolic. On Live Listern Q1, I know the question was around optimization for someone already on TRT... But I wonder how many young people listen to MP on this topic and start going down the rabbit hole of thinking they need hormone therapy. 25 years old is REALLY young for a process that can have life altering changes (good or bad). Even with a good doctor guiding you, this is still unknown territory for modern "science". TRT seems like the kind of topic that one would need multiple opinions from multiple doctors to be sure on. I guess it just gives me pause because the topic is nuanced and Sal gives a quick rundown on the benefits without giving equal time and consideration to the downsides. Because of Mind Pump, I decided to get my testosterone tested because of Sal's comment on the "epidemic" of Low T in men, and turns out I'm someone who runs outside the normal high ranges for T. They even asked me to come in and retest, and passed the results by an endocrinologist. All I'm saying is that Sal influenced me to get tested because I was worried I might be one of those people. I figure myself a pretty smart guy in his late 30's, but I was influenced and worried. Even Dr. McClain acknowledges that its tough to define the long term side effects of TRT (kzbin.info/www/bejne/rYa9nYyPZayYrrs). All I'm saying is that it would be helpful to people if you offered an opposing point of view. Someone to challenge your notions here, and from what I've heard from the podcast (I listen to almost all of them), you're generally in favor of as a group. Perhaps the long terms cons don't outweigh the short term pros... Perhaps people in the weigh lifting community are apt to suffer from issues like body dysmorphia, and instead of challenging the perception that they NEED to be bigger, they look for solutions to a nonproblem.... Perhaps a young man in his 20's should commit himself to a long term weight training protocol and better diet before entertaining TRT?

Very inspirational, started my fitness journey a few weeks back after several prior attempts, after watching some of your videos, I switched my training to a strenght programme (stronglifts), eat at maintenance and I've been having a great time! Always looking forward to your podcast. For me at age of 43, I been training for 30 years. Its always been the same procedure for me to lose weight and get ready for summer. A galon of water, good sleep and then lift weights for 3 months 5 days a week. Eat well and clean but no diet. Maintenance calories. From then and on just add 30 mins cardio every morning for a month and body fat melts off because of all my muscle. If anyone does that and don't look great after 4 months then he done it wrong.

Yo guys, thanks again! I believe this is the most frustrating part of it all. I'm disciplined, and I started working out consistently etc. I see my weight staying the same (don't give a sh*t about the scale). Meanwhile strength goes up and probably I'm changing my body composition. Yet the temptation to just starve myself is there and lurking. I'm not as lean as I would prefer yet.. Gotta be patient here. You help people stay on track.

The intro to this video is exactly what happened to me. I gained six pounds but went down in body fat percentage. Not knowing what that meant I was initially distraught. After it was explained to me that I gained the weight in muscle I was put in a whole other mind state so I decided to do some research of my own. That's how I came across you guys and have been watching and learning for nearly three months now.

As a 45 yo mother that has 8 children ranging in age from 4-19, I have tried it all over the years to manage my weight. Honestly, in my experience, I’ve never suffered much from being overweight outside of pregnancy, but I have battled the persistent loss of muscle mass when dieting and using cardio as a weight loss tool. I was the typical “skinny fat female” for decades, but since I’ve started a legitimate strength barbell program, I am eating way more than I ever had, lost fat, and gained so much muscle mass. These guys know their stuff and I am so grateful to have these podcasts to listen to because there is so much nonsense out there that doesn’t apply to the average fitness goer. Thank you for all that you do and all of the time and effort you put into this podcast as I have personally come to depend upon your advice because I, as many, can’t afford to hire a PT or even but most programs out there. Keep up the good work!

I've been on a fitness journey for 10 years and every "before" picture I've taken looks the same (or close to) the progress photos. I was developing eating habits that I had no idea were killing my metabolism--even with all of the videos I'd watched, articles I'd read and research I'd done. Everything kept pointing back to "move more, eat less" but eating was never my problem (well, not in the way I thought). I hate asking for help (even though I advise others to do it) so I finally decided to get help from someone and I should have followed my gut instinct when I got her meal plan and told her "no". She was a bikini competitor so I thought "she's gotten where I want to get, so she should know the right way to do things". Wrong. On a separate note, I was in the exact scenario you guys first talked about--lost 12lbs and it was almost all muscle. I wish I had found you guys sooner. I've been watching your videos non-stop for the last few weeks and have already seen a difference in training that I hadn't before. I really appreciate the information; keep up the great work!

Hey Sal, Adam, Justin and Doug, I've been listening to your content for over two years now and am now very familiar with your approach to optimal fat loss, where you focus on building muscle first and building your metabolism before actually dropping weight (or maybe even staying the same). I to this day think that this message is so underrepresented in the fitness space and really appreciate you shedding light on the greatest misconceptions when it comes to health and fitness, day in and day out. I also love the consistency with which you communicate your information and not deviating from your opinion every time a "new study" comes out. Thanks to you guys, I started studying nutrition science and am on my way to also help people in their pursuit of a happier and healthier life. Keep up the good work and please never ever get rid of the intro portion of your podcasts or inspiring interviews with several great personalities. Those are my favorite parts of your show ;-)

Loving the content guys. Theyre jam packed with knowledge and experiences the most people aren't willing to share. I'm on a personal journey to get ready for my wedding but more importantly becoming a more active father 4 my kids.

Congratulations, Sal on the new little one💕. I feel like I saw this coming though. A few weeks ago during one of your interviews ( can’t remember off hand who it was) he mentioned that you were “a father of three and a half kids.” I remember thinking at the time that I somehow missed the announcement. 😂

Been lifting for several years now being a college and professional athlete, but have really been looking for a program to get my parents into strength training. My mom is a type 2 diabetic and I think it would be a life changer for her.

I ran track in high school and was a very skinny guy. I had such little muscle, had a really hard time gaining muscle, and didn't realize that actually gaining muscle could help me in running. I don't run anymore, but the lack of muscle continued into adulthood. I found your channel and got anabolic, and man, I've gained 8 pounds of muscle and lost 2 pounds of fat just in the first 3 weeks of Anabolic. I had no idea that big of a change was possible so quickly.

I've gotten so many benefits from listening to you guys. Like knowing which supplements to take to. One that I've never heard elsewhere is how beneficial creatine is and how to use it properly, not only for muscle growth but whole body health. It was so well explained that even my wife who has bipolar has added it to part of her supplement regimen. Thank you!

I love listening to you guys. I played D1 softball- we soley focused on compound lifts and I ate like… a ton. But I was really strong and built a lot of muscle and felt amazing even though I would’ve been 15lbs heavier back then. Enter normal adulting and trying to get back into shape without a coach who is programming for you. There’s so much information about getting in shape and staying in shape and the internet is full of over complicated body building splits/exercises. But you guys really validated what I already knew to be true- lift some heavy stuff, rest, stretch and eat reasonably and everything takes care of itself. The scale is irrelevant 😂

When I smoke some weed before going to the gym.. it does so many things for me. I have laser focus when training, I feel like I hit every rep perfectly and I am able to pump out an extra couple of reps compared to when I dont. I feel like I am able to exert more power during my workout. Its just a game changer..I don't recommend it for everyone. I am not the type of person that can smoke and sit down or do nothing.i start tripping if I do. If I smoke I am always active.

Thanks again for answering my question. I really appreciated having that mphormone outfit to go to for my health needs. I’m like 80% sure I know what my low T is from…A football injury in which I made the poor choice of not wearing a cup. Didn’t notice anything then but when I look back, there evidence that leads to that. But non the less, I appreciate the help you guys gave me. I think I already knew the answer, but really wanted to hear it from the professionals.

Really grateful to hear this. Ive been advised to do 1 hr cardio a day to lose 20lbs. I began this along with a calorie deficit and didn’t see results. I switched to lifting and increased calories since that has worked for me before and started losing weight and seeing muscle development. Its also great to know that the body arranges hormones too, the cardio would have made T issues worse when I need it increased.

Congrats Sal on the next little one! As for the cameras, my daughter was 4 and my son was 2.5 when we removed their baby cams. We didn't want our kids to think it was normal to have a camera on them at all times for their day to day life. In hindsight we could have removed them even earlier than that.
