Stop Ford Tail Light Theft! LatchLid Install

In this video, I presented latch lid as being a solution for not protecting your tail lights, but also to prevent theft from the outside. It was pointed out to me that the theft from the outside actually isn’t an issue. I misinterpreted the intent of the product and thought it prevented both inside and outside theft. Where it was only meant to prevent theft from trucks with an uncovered bed. I apologize for any confusion.

Installed this today. Was better then the original theft proof screws I first ordered. Good solid kit. Ty for recommending it. I recommend doing it with a ratchet screwdriver.

Of course, no problem! Glad it worked well for you. Ratcheting screw driver would definitely make the install go quicker

The product description makes it seem like the vulnerability comes from someone accessing the inside of the tailgate. You mentioned a hook style method from the outside, has that been shown to be a vulnerability as well and do you have a link to the Alumaduty forum or source to take a look at what others are saying?

No you’re right! I misunderstood the intention of the product and the vulnerability that is solved. Sorry about that I will remove this video so it doesn’t mislead anyone to buy this for the wrong reason.

I still think this can be very valuable to prevent certain theft attempts (like you mentioned for tail lights and even tailgate theft itself for open bed trucks). Could just put a sticky comment to address that as I feel the rest of it was well presented.
