Stop Losing Your Bait With This Fishing Knot! (Egg Loop Knot)

The egg loop knot keeps my bait on my hook so that fish can’t steal it. I got tired of striped bass stealing my soft fishing bait, so I tried a new fishing knot! Stay tuned for a fishing knot tutorial and watch the egg loop knot in action!
Today, we are fishing in the Chesapeake Bay Area in MD. We are hoping to catch some keeper size striped bass using soft shell peeler crabs. The spot is difficult to fish because of all moving water and wooden poles in the way. This means it is crucial that our bait stays on, it is hard enough to cast the bait into the correct spot; we can’t have the bait flying off the hook as we cast it! Additionally, the gap is wide enough to actually hook a fish (not always the case with circle hooks). I purchased the 8/0, but probably should have got the 9/0 (they seem slightly smaller than other 8/0 hooks). Additionally, having the point in-line helps if you drift fish. I have yet to get a serious snag with one of these hooks.

If you want to save your rig put a loop inline nice heavy rubber band in loop attach sinker to rubber band as you know the weight is what hangs you up a quick jerk will snap rubber band and releases your rig. We use this for floating egg sacks in a rocky river bottom just put split shots on rubber band. Give it a try .good luck carl

Try using athletic tape on the spots that gets sore on your fingertips. That's what I use now especially when I'm tying braid so I don't get cut and you still have your free motions and all your joints in your hands

Good instructional video. Just a note, this method doesn’t work well for redfish b/c they have teeth. They wind up cutting the line holding your bait and you lose the hook and bait.
