This is such a thorough explanation of just one coverage of the many that are effecting our insurance rates. Well spoken, thank you!

So I’m a rideshare driver that’s been driving people for the past 6 1/2 years. I’ve had three accidents where I was rear ended from behind. I was simply waiting for the light to turn green in order to proceed. There’s a fourth time where I was rear-ended on the freeway by a driver that was not paying attention. That is the fourth time that I was rear ended . The fifth accident that I experienced my vehicle was parked as somebody backed up their pick up truck mounting it on top of the hood tearing up the entire front end. Unfortunately, for some of these accidents, I had to pay a deductible Which I eventually got it back after my insurance sued their insurance. Are you telling me it’s more beneficial for me to never submit a glass claim even though I have a zero deductible for a glass coverage under my comprehensive coverage? Should I simply pay out-of-pocket to avoid my premium to go up.

Hi @ImportDomestic2006, sorry to hear of the accidents, good to hear you were not at fault and sound like you were not hurt. As for the windshield claims also known as comprehensive claims, underwriting rules have changed significantly in the last 2 years, previously comprehensive claims were not counted against your claims but in many states and most insurance companies they are now. My advice would be very selective on windshield claims... meaning if you are going to use insurance to repair rock chips you could risk a rate increase or cancellation if you have too many claims. If you have an expensive window and the entire windshield needs to replaced then you might consider using insurance... please consult with your insurance agency to confirm coverages and repercussions of placing the claim. thanks for the question and be safe out there. ~ Tia
