My favorite distillery by far. They make fantastic products. Also fun fact they are the #1 selling bourbon in Iowa since 2020. Outselling all the legacy distillery’s such as beam and makers. First craft producer to do that in there home state.

Swisher iowa. A few miles straight south of the CR airport. They offer tastings of all their products and you can get a tour. Entertainment on weekends and food.

FYI, Black Frost in New Ulm is releasing their blended bourbon on 11/29 day after thanksgiving. $45 a bottle. Would like to try it myself and maybe pickup a bottle. Little high but if it’s good what the heck.

I live just two hours from the distillery. Can find their entry-level bourbon generally between $28-$32 much of the time. Great products and happy to see your review!

Cedar Ridge is absolutely killing it - I 100% agree, best bang for the buck out there. Every so often you'll find the entry level CR on sale at local Iowa grocery stores for $25. I purchase in volume when I find those deals. Appreciate the video on CR

This is so funny. They are a Harvest Host for RVs and we stayed there and ended up buying their original bourbon and their Port. Excellent place to visit . Who would've thunk in Iowa there would be such a wonderful winery/distillery. Plus a restaurant to boot.

I still haven't seen any cedar ridge locally but I'll be keeping an eye out! I don't think I've ever seen you guys try any, but wheelers raid is another small distillery near me in tennessee that has some very affordable and quality bottles (at least to my pallet). One of my local stores sells their sherry finish cask strength for $28! I think they're normally in the $40-50 range but for a tasty 122 proof 6+ year bourbon it's hard to beat. I'm already on my 3rd bottle!

When you mentioned Port Barrel Rum... Holy cow I found the best Rum I've ever tasted. I'm not a fan of Amburana bourbon but Amburana rum... that's something special. Rolling Fork released a very limited rum recently with only about 620 bottles that is finished in Amburana and it's the best thing I've drank this year - and I've had some crazy allocated bourbons and tequilas.

Thank you for the review. I’m not sure when I’ll see this in NC but I did have a friend pick up the regular OCD5 from Glenn’s Creek. Very solid pour but I wasn’t lucky on the premium version availability. Another distillery review option I’d like to see is Ben Holiday out of Missouri.

Cedar Ridge just released 2 more finished whiskeys last week. It was announced on their Facebook page. The cafe at the distillery puts out some fantastic food also. I am awaiting delivery of their double barrel bourbon and rye from my grandson.

CR is an hour south of me. Let me know if you make the trip. I would love to meet up with you guys. 27 bottles on my shelf. Some are picks and some are barrel proof. I have 7 Ryes (which are delicious) a few are Port cask finished and one Honey finished. Their Quintessential Single Malts are very good as well, and fun they are in the 92-118 proof range. I am lucky enough to have a Batch #1 which I sip on occasionally. Oh man, I love their Wheat whiskey. . They do a real nice job for sure. They built a few new rickhouses in the past couple years to attempt to keep up with demand. Cheers!

Late to this great, positive video. I got a CR SiB bourbon pick--Moonlight Graham, nice Field of Dreams reference--a few years ago. Up front it was too grainy/crafty for me, so I set it aside for a bit. Then I tasted it in a blind, and holy cow, it was amazing, better than most $90+ SiBs I've tasted. I haven't tried their single malts, but those are very, very high on my list now.

If you do the American Single Malt Blind, you need to try to get something from Sons Of Liberty out of Rhode Island. I visited there when I was on vacation over the summer and it is fantastic! I brought home 3 different varieties from them, one was a peated American Malt Whiskey and it is so delicious, I will be heart broken when it is gone!

Cedar Ridge has one of the best bang for the buck double oaked, or "double barreled" bourbons in the game. Not just biased because I'm in Iowa either. Great brand. Still waiting to be able to grab a honeyed release if I can catch one.

I live nearby and got a local store pick 7yr Rye from Cedar Ridge that's extremely good. Should have grabbed a second bottle while they were available. $45. Got two bottles of the barrel proof at $39... Great value.

I have an idea for a video: home blend recipes. We're talking prudent pappy, prudent WLW, whatever. I just mixed 50/50 old Forester SBBP and JD SBBP rye... It's delicious, 131 proof that drinks closer to 110-115.

Cedar Ridge has just come to my area. I have a choice locally of CR Original 86 Bourbon, CR 86 Straight Rye, CR LTO B&B, CR Barrel Proof and QuintEssential Single Malt. I lean toward sweeter whiskey in the 100-115 proof range. What do you suggest I try first?

If you do an entry level American single malt review or blind tasting you definitely need to include Balcones Lineage at about $35/ bottle, in Texas; one of my, if not my favorite in this price range, absolutely fabulous. Let me know if you need me to send you a sample.

The Lineage is fantastic. People always recommend that I try one of their others, but they're all out of my price range - at $40, the Lineage is affordable. Alas, ever since Balcones quit making bourbon all their stuff has gotten harder to find. All that's on the shelf within my reach is the expensive barley whiskies and the Brimstone, at Total Wine. The only place I know of that still carries the Baby Blue corn whisky, the Lineage, and the Pot Still Bourbon is way on the other side of town, and these days I don't drive outside my area.
