Well said. It's easy to go down the perfection rabbit hole as a detailer... Great video! Thanks for sharing...

I don't have a detailing business but I definitely agree with what you've said. I would first make sure that the customer understands what kind of level of service he/she will get.

I suffer from this shit. I can't overcome it when I'm in the zone. Watching this on my day off makes perfect sense but I can't do it once I'm hands on

Good advice and info. I've unfortunately made this mistake multiple times of giving high dollar detail work and underminded myself for way less. Oh well lesson learned more than once lol.

A detailers biggest challenge is not to polish for his own satisfaction/standard but what the customer wants and pays for. Most customers is not a paint whisper like us😊 and don't see half of the paint defects like we do. Yes give them what they pay for🙏 But it's not easy to not overdo it for your own satisfaction😢

yup! that's the challenge 😅

I offer 1 , 2, and three stages paint polishing. If a customer brings an in a car, I recommend the suitable service for them. Some do follow, but some will still still go for 1 stage even if I recommend 3 stage polish for them.

I got a gloss meter so what ever they pay for that’s what there going to get and they see the difference once that gloss meter hits it when it’s done

So I have been using 3M rubbing compounds and polishes the entire time i've been detailing. I have experimented with Meguiars products and they do just about the same if not better at times. Just curious what you use and which do you prefer? if you use one or the other.

I offer a one step and a two step. I'm still pretty new so. I feel like I don't charge much. 1 step is $300 2 step is $400

definitely should have even a basic excel sheet. Measure EVERYTHING. Measure how much of each product you use on a car. Record the car model and how much time you spend as well. Keep doing this as you work (the more data the better). I still do this, but as you get data and you can nail how much product you use per detail, you can easily price out your services properly. Dont just wing your prices or base off others. Base off your costs and you can adjust your profit goals, stay competitive in pricing but focus on value and proper profits.

um that kid "polishing" the white Tundra doesn't look like a professional. Foot work, placement / movement of pad, ergonomics, etc...
@Chris-eo1bp5 ай бұрын
It does look weird but that’s the only way to hold the polisher from standing. Paint enhancement is so fast, you don’t sit down or stick to one section. Paint enhancement is the fast food of polishing .

maybe can upload a video so we the people rhat don't know how to do it! can do it the right way😅😂😂
