From Gustav: It is hard to try this advance vocabulary with my wife. She’s writer for living and she calls some words “buzzwords”. That is the only one I understand. “Hackney” no. There words, she says, don’t always help when you use them and “meh” is one that is almost a “pet peeve” with her. She says she “doesn’t really know what it means when someone says that and wonders if the person saying it does.” Our relationship is husband and wife, she said. Not every words you say to a wife works the same.. Different relationships calls for different words. I understand that because I don’t talk to my sister and mom like I do my wife.. My wife’s favorite German word that she thinks means bad (it doesn’t because German is different) is furchtbar. It means REALLY bad and mostly of things, not people.
@VickiBee3 жыл бұрын
From Vicki, I never said these lessons have hackneyed phrases. I said that about some of the stories they write for people with ESL. Stephen King wasn’t wrong when he said there are bad writers, even among professionals. He has a book called ‘On Writing.’
@InteractiveEng3 жыл бұрын
Hey Gustav. It's absolutely right that people may change the way they speak and the words they use depending on who you're talking to. I would often tell this to learners when teaching writing - Know your audience. Hope you discovered some new words. This lesson is mostly trying to encourage people to build their vocabulary with synonyms. 😊 👍

Terrible Atrocious Slow (not moving fast) What's the weather like? Yucky Lousy Nasty What did you think of?(some piece of art) Dreadful Hideous What did you think of? (Some person) Noughty = not for adults Juvenile = for adults Appaling Obnoxious How was your vacation? Am I right teacher plsplsplspls check it Past perfect active and passive Uses Used to show one event happened before another past event , also used to show one event but there should be context like I decided to go america I packed my bags and went to airport my dad had told me that I would see different kinda people there ...... Here I used past perfect alone cuz I am having context with it 1. I had see it . 2. Mobile had been given . Here in both in didn't have context to say "past perfect happened before what " we can't say this thing in last two sentences so their past perfect wrong to be used . Am I right

My sir Big help Could you please tell me are these Sentences grammatically correct? Which are correct sentences? 1)I read news in the newspaper. 2)I read news on the newspaper. 3)I studied the grammar on a english book. 4)I studied the grammar in a english book. 5)I read the news on Internet 6)iread the news in Internet
@amandaa69743 жыл бұрын
I’m not him but I would say 1 is more grammatically correct however it is redundant. Since you’re telling us you’re reading a newspaper you don’t need to specify that you’re reading NEWS on the NEWSpaper since we already know the purpose is to read news on it. 4 is also more grammatically correct than 3 but remember that you use the word “an” when the next word starts with a vowel so it would be “I studied grammar in an book 5 is more correct
