as a converted muslim, i can really say i haven't faced something more trying to my soul than marriage. alhamdulilah... but everything we face, subhana Allah the prophet pbuh faced, but more severely in one way or another. i think of how he was an orphan, subhana Allah, and how nobody wanted to marry him because of this. but Allah swt had khadija ra for him. she was beneficial to him in every way possible and he loved her so much subhana Allah. we just have to be patient. every matter with patience in sha Allah. may Allah grant the muslims good spouses.

Sarah James Your experience is not unique! In my case it was a woman of a different race and cultural background. Many reasons were given for my unsuitability. But in the end was the same result-rejection. We cannot and should not force,coerce or trick anyone into loving us. But love must be given freely and generously without any demands or conditions. Love is a wonderful, beautiful God given emotion and state of being. It cannot be destroyed or taken back. But we have to be careful whom we fall in love with. And the love is not one-sided.Only one person having this feeling/emotion for the other person. My resentment and anger over this loss is now long gone. What is left is the purity of a love that is kinder,gentler and grateful. Both to God and the person I still love. Many times in our lives we want something that God does not want us to have.With the passage of time we will and can see this thing we wanted was not for us.And God in His Great Love and Wisdom kept this from us. I am sure the grief and pain of this loss will be healed by God as you continue to pray.And with the prayers and loving support of those who have always loved you-parents,siblings,relatives and close friends will also help you to heal. I had started ten years ago to write a fictional story of two people brought together after tragedies- death of their spouses to fall in love with each other. Today I read part of this and was surprised how beautiful it was. I have resolved to finish it as a labour of love. My prayers go up to the Lord on your behalf. May He continue to bless your life with His Peace,Love and Joy. As He meets you in the quiet, beautiful garden of your heart to comfort you with His Great Love.

Alhamdulilah for this lecture. I found myself being a part of the minority when challenging my community in regards to labeling African Americans as "Abeds" (slaves). In Arabic Abed-Allah, means the slave of God, however when referring to people of the Ummah, this term was never used, however only used when referring to black people. I made an effort, alhamdulilah with the knowledge God has blessed me with, to correct those with this ignorant/racist term, only to be returned with eye rolls and made to feel overly sensitive. Hearing Sheikh Suleiman explain this validates my thinking/reasoning, but also worries me how uneducated our Ummah is at times. Brothers and sisters, continue to increase your knowledge and continue changing incorrect social norms/practices you know, are unjust.

The root cause of interracial marriages today between Muslims is pre-marital relationships. If Muslims knew the Islamic rulings on gender interaction, knew how to approach a potential spouse within the realm of the sharia/Islamic etiquette and did not engage themselves into pre-marital relationships, interracial marriages would nowhere be as much as they are today. They get married because they had fallen in love because they were engaged in a pre-marital relationship and some have even rebelled out causing major heartaches in their families then they turn around and say "We got married because Islam condemns racism and we place deen above culture" if this is not hypocrisy, don't know what is.
@RUF91110 жыл бұрын
I don’t understand why you’re being disrespectful like that, calling me ignorant and what not. Anyways, I’m not going to deny the fact that they are Muslims who married from the same nationality and were engaged in a pre-marital relationship. When it comes to interracial marriages however, in the great vast majority of the time it is the boy and the girl who find each other on their own, whether through university, work and so on, Islmically there is nothing wrong with that, especially that nowadays interacting with the opposite gender is virtually unavoidable and Islmically we are allowed to interact with the opposite gender, it just that we must remain formal, modest and any unnecessary conversation must be avoided. Most of the time, sadly this does not apply nowadays. There are stories here in my community that I have personally witnessed, where the guy talks to a girl secretly without approaching her family, it’s as if they get secretly “engaged”. A Canadian convert is currently dating a Lebanese girl, I told him that what he’s doing is not correct and that he should approach her family, his response was: “I will not approach her father until I make sure that we’re both in deeply in love and attached to one another, that way, in case I get refused, it’ll be very easy for me to convince her to go see the Imam.” Another story, a Persian guy was dating a Pakistani girl and it took him 1 year not to convince her family, but convince the girl to walk out of her family’s home and go see the Imam...and I have many other stories to tell. As you probably know, if the guardian refuses to marry his daughter off for no valid reason, the girl reserves the right to go see an Imam, but this privilege is used and abused beyond anyone’s imagination. Girls nowadays go see the imams because they have developed very strong feelings for their boyfriend. she want to marry her boyfriend because she has fallen in love and uses Islamic privileges for that. Some Imams have publically announced that they will never conduct such a marriage, because chances are the girl is lying, she tells the imam “my father refused someone of a good deen and character based on race” where in reality, she’s using the imam as a means to marry her lover...Trust me I know all the tips and tricks girls pull off nowadays. There is no doubt that there’s an ugly and very dark side of interracial marriages. The reason why I’m putting interracial marriages under the spotlight is because the topic of this video is about those marriages. The issue here is, you have famous Muslim public speakers who get carried away with their emotions on how Islam condemns racism and they start to blindly glorify and over glorify interracial marriages and get all superficial and rosy with their arguments. Yet at the same time, the great vast majority of interracial marriages are nothing but love marriages and have nothing to do with deen. For the longest time I was asking myself as to why those public speakers glorify and over glorify interracial and get the Muslims all hyped up and excited on how Islam condemns racism and completely ignore the fact that the ROOT CAUSE OF INTERRACIAL MARRIAGES IS PRE-MARITAL RELATIONSHIPS!! How come they never talk about the Islamic rulings on gender interaction, how to approach a potential spouse within the Islamic etiquettes a that pre-marital relationships is something condemned in Islam DURING AN INTERRACIAL MARRIAGES GLORIFICATION LECTURE??? Don’t you think that there’s a misbalance here?? That is the reason why I’m putting interracial marriages under the spotlight. In the Shafi’i, Hanafi and hambali schools of thoughts, there’s something called “Fiqh Al Kafa’a” when it comes to marriages. In case you’re a non-Arab, Kafa’a translates into Qualifications or in terms of marriage, suitability/compatibility. Without getting into too much fiqh, basically Kafa’a only applies for the Muslim women; it’s when she and her guardian look at the man to see whether or not he’s a match for the girl. They are more than one condition, for example in the shafi’i school of thought: 1- A slave man is not a match for a free woman (this obviously does not apply today) 2- Social Status/wealth, for example: a man with a high school degree is not a match for the woman who has a Ph.D. The example mentioned in the reliance of the traveller is: a son of a tailor is not a match for a daughter of a merchant. 3- Religiousness: A corrupt man is no match for a righteous woman 4- Lineage: A non-Arab man is not a match for an Arab woman 5- A man with a physical and/or mental illness is not a match for a healthy woman If the girl chooses to marry a non-suitable match, then her father reserves the right to hold the Kafa’a on her behalf and refuse her potential spouse. If the father chooses to marry his daughter off to a non-suitable match, then the girl has obviously the right to refuse, the girl can refuse for any reason suitable or not. On the other hand, if the father accepts to marry his daughter off to a non-suitable match and the daughter accepts, then the marriage is perfectly permissible, but the father will be seen as someone negligent. Let’s concentrate on number 4, “lineage”. When I read that, I was surprised since everyone around me shouts from the top of their lungs “Racism this, Racism that” I called a local sheikh, and asked him about the lineage condition, his reply was: “Yes it is true, an Arab father can refuse a non-Arab based on race, but nowadays it’s better to accept, because if not, the girl can very well commit zina with her “friend””. This is actually a known issue, I’m not going to disrespect you by calling you “ignorant”, but I encourage you to read further about fiqh al Kafa’a and just for fun, google “parents refusing marriage in islam” or something within those lines, you’ll notice that the people asking the online “imam” or moonlight scholar that they want to marry someone they love and the parents are refusing. Yes, they literary say “love” Let me elaborate further on this: "We got married because Islam condemns racism and we place deen above culture" 1- One can marry outside his or her culture and yet still be racist and still stereotype towards other people of different ethnicities. I have personally witnessed it before, yes they are Muslims who marry outside of their culture who are at the same time RACIST!! 2- Placing deen above culture or above any worldly thing does not automatically translate into “marrying outside of your culture”. Believe it or not, but marrying someone religious from your culture is a possibility. Some will say “I know people who got married from their culture and their marriage have failed because they didn’t take deen into consideration and I know people who married outside of their culture and live happy because they have taken deen into consideration.” Both of these scenarios are true, but trust me when I tell you, there’s a flip side to it. Offensive? I know what I said was harsh, but it’s the absolute truth. What you need to understand is, people who are open to the idea to marry outside of their culture or have married outside of their culture, describe themselves as being “Open minded” and part of being open minded is to accept reality for what it is without taking any offense. Now, if they are interracial marriage couples who read what I wrote, technically they shouldn’t get offended because I’m saying the truth. Waslam.
@kledmohd42309 жыл бұрын
P-Stine I've read what you've wrote and many of it makes sense but some i find confusing, ur actually right that many of the interracial marriages are stemming not the right way in fact most of the marriages in general are not stemming in the right way, instead of guarding the eyes, tongue and private part, men and women actually gets into unislamic relationships like emotional relationship thru conversing freely and developing feelings that is reserved for marriage only, and the other is physical relationship which is touching all the way up to fornication, u r right that since cultures have changed and the interaction between genders have increased, it is evident that opposite gender will come in contact and this may lead to some attractions but if the children are brought up in proper upbringing, they would try to observe the religious practices and character of the person in a formal way within the bounds of islam and not get informal, and if they see the right qualities that is recommended in islam , the boy can send a proposal to the girl's parents, and if after that they refuse the question of rebellion is out of the picture since the relationship has not gone far, but if it does takes place despite less interactions , then u could have a valid reason for taking up to a sharia council if the parents want to marry her to a less practicing boy or coz after the proposal things took a different turn or other reason etc and the sharia council could marry them provided that the boy is well practicing muslim but nowadays u have muslim girls lying abt their lovers being practicing while the very fact that they were involved seriously before marring contradicts the very fact of being practicing, ppl uses the technicality of islam to benefit their desires and Sharia councils complies easily without any investigation, im not proposing espionage but maybe someone could go to the local mosque of the boy and ask abt him or get to know him thru his friends etc to determine if he is truly a practicing person and if the ruling of marrying women to practicing and good character men truly apply or not, rather that believing the girl which is truly wrong as she would say anything to get her goals, and then u have imams who are scared that they would indulge in fornication and quickly sort out the best of the worse alternatives, my parents are old now and counciled and consolidated many couples and have always noticed that ppl who do wrong before marriage most of the time have bad marriages compared to those which have islamic guidelines involved. Of course in case of arranged marriages parents are not right all the time and i have a real example, my two elder sisters married without even knowing the man beforehand and the eldest divorced within a year due to domestic abuse, and the second after few years coz the husband was sterile, their second marriages they chose their own but didn't break any islamic rulings and in the very beginning got parents involved and and they are leading happy lives now with kids etc Alhamdulillah, actually u do have serious conversations regarding gender interactions among the religious Muslims but i guess sheikh Omar's point is after parents gives their children incomplete guidance and the damage being done,and then the best alternative which can be used, in this case the genders not protecting their eyes due to parent's negligence in their upbringing and them falling in love, and love does makes u blind and religion doesn't matter anymore, and the example of the Hafiza is also contradicting as practicing muslims don't get involved before marriage or fornicate and the issue would never get serious, its somehow that he's justifying her fornication coz of the reluctance of her parents, its kind of confusion when u live in such societies or genders don't care of their limits, but i do still believe that when u make marriage hard fornication becomes easy, and in early Islam marriage was not this huge monster that it is now becoz of our cultures, and parents should take it easy and leave negative cultural prejudices and focus more on Islam, and if children are brought up in a proper manner and knows their duties should have confidence in their decision if no Islamic bounds have been crossed, especially if they find someone who is practicing in the right sense and it is confirmed, i blame the public education system for most of the problems today coz children acts like angels at home and devils at schools and a big gap of what parents perceive their children to be and what they actually are, i think as muslims we need to rethink our education system for better moral upbringing of our children, regarding ur fiqh ka'afa, i find the social status and lineage of being arab and non arab confusing, social status is important coz if a rich women married a poor man out of some blind love and parents agreed, the women can get disappointed later and frustrated due to financial reasons and due to weakness of faith and lack of patience compare to if she married someone of her standing and it makes sense but i think it should be a guidance rather than a reason for prohibition in marriage, and i see the wisdom if u observe some real life examples, but it could create social barriers of rich and poor being separate or inferiority based on this issue or in this case separatism, and the arab and non arab seems even more confusing as cultures should be shaped thru religion and not the other way around, and this seems like clear racism without any doubt, coz arabs are a race, if the above points are based of Qiyas and ijtihad then i believe the scholars of our times have the authority to reshape these views, but if it is scriptural , then of course more stricter ways to look at these points and exploring their wisdom and authenticity of those sources could be checked compared to others.

J0nesJr brother that is racist if your daughter what’s to marry a Somali guy and you say no just because he is from a different culture and race and she ends up committing sins or something else remember Allah will punish U not her. Also if the prophet (saw) was here today and he asked you for your argument against her marriage do you really think he would accept it. Akhi stop being like this. We are all the creations of Allah and the descents of Adam (asm)
@TheDeenIslamTDI7 жыл бұрын
J0nesJr but brother if your daughter or sons don’t agree with you you do know that it is impermissible for you to say no as ou don’t have a valid reason. The prophet (saw) said that you can only reject the marriage if it’s 1 of these 3 reasons 1. The brother can not afford the marriage. But this can easily be sorted 2. If the brothers akhlaq ( behaviour) is intolerable 3. If the brother isn’t a good practising Muslim Then by all means reject it but if you don’t have one of these 3 reasons you cannot reject it and if you do just because of racial backgrounds this falls into racism but brothe ri understand where your coming from but don’t burden your children

Of course he’s not talking about always but I get your point and it seems like you are old school and against Muslim biracial marriages. The sheikh is clearly knowledgeable of what he’s talking about. However, it’s good not to just listen the words but to go around and get the wisdom. Let me translate the unspoken wisdom and the meaning of the part that you pointed out. The sheikh understands that some people prefer to deal with a certain race or group of people. Now let’s say your daughter was about to marry a Muslim Black American man, you declined it expecting something better. Some time later she came back with the same race but different religion or a white man because remember it’s all about whom she’s interested in. What would you do? Are you gonna keep canceling on her until the end?
@mplsridah4 жыл бұрын
Faysal Hassan no you don't know what I'm talking about, and no I'm not old school, I'm 24. Interracial marriages are a farce that shouldn't be promoted. Like I said you don't know what's gonna happen, neither does this sheikh, only Allah knows. To suggest that she'll run away with someone of different race and religion is dishonest way of fear mongering. That's like predicting what's gonna happen next year, nobody knows what's gonna happen and studies don't suggest that. What if I was to tell you that my future daughter won't be interested in a non Muslim man, and as her Wali, I have every right to say no, especially if the man she's interested in is not Muslim. We can go on and on and on about hypothetical scenarios but the truth is we don't know what's gonna happen and promoting interracial marriage (while Omar Suleiman is surprisingly married to a woman of the same race and nationality) is not going to help race relations
@jakecake514 жыл бұрын
@@mplsridah Asalamu Alaikum, the main point the Sheikh was trying to make is that looking at race when it comes to marriage is not the priority. As you said, only Allah knows what will happen. But it is apparent that looking at a person's piety is priority in regards to marriage. Nothing wrong with same race marriage. And nothing wrong with interracial marriage. Only Allah knows who is better than who because he is all knowing and perfect! So all we should rely on when deciding on who to marriage is religion and character.

Mr Hassan Ali Hanoolat Inshallah Wa'alykum salaam bro, how you been, Ramadan is going well, I'm enjoying it, alx. You're right bro, these scholars need to be exposed for their hypocrisy. And I also like Omar Suleyman, I follow him on fb. Lately he's been on sjw stuff, he's more interested in fitting in with the whole "woke" crowd than greater good for the ummah. Exactly bro, wallahi you nailed it, these quirky A-rab sheikhs are no more than a good talk and a beautiful message aimed at laymen who don't dare question him, but rather follow him blindly. Subhannallah. Mashallah, I'm glad you're waking up bro. I used to be neutral about interracial relationships until I investigated why almost all sheikhs encourage and promote this. I found out that since they don't want to be called racist, they would try to look good by promoting and encouraging interracial relationship. Even though there's no correlation between the two, they don't want to differentiate racism and race mixing because they don't want to look racist. We're against racism, of course, we said it. And you're right, they would never give their daughters to a black man but they are quick to utter that one verse, u know, the most used verse in the Quran lol... little do they know that the verse is about racism, not about interracial marriages. I'm yet to see someone give me a specific verse or a hadith saying that we are obligated to breed with other races. I was debating all the weirdos under the comment section but non of them was able to bring me just one verse in the Quran or one hadith on the issue. Just shows how laymen are jahils. Exactly bro. I'd rather stay single forever wallahi than marry a girl who's not Somali, and hopefully from my clan. These fake sheikhs need to be called out instead of being followed blindly. Our women who are married to ajnabis are not even a 1% of a 1% of Somali diaspora, which is great because we need to keep our gene. Never once did he even mention that interracial marriage is mubah and not wajib, and there's a reason why it's mubah. I don't care what this salafi weirdo says, I'll never accept breeding with ajnabis and jailhouse reverts.

Just because you mixed with Romans and the British to get a lighter skinned toned doesn’t mean anything. Abraham, who was a dark skinned Chaldean fathered Issac who fathered Jacob who fathered the true 12 tribes of Israel and they were all dark skinned as the literature proves. Therefore, Esau the twin of Jacob who fathered the Arabs was also dark. The apple doesn’t fall too far from the tree. So this racism against dark skinned Arabs doesn’t make any sense.
