I have done facial exercises since my mid twenties for ten years along with sunscreen, vitamin C and then bakuchiol until I jumped on the gold standard ingredient band waggon and tried tretinoin for almost two years. Because of the sensitivity I got from tret I couldn't tolerate all those things I did before. The outcome was not good and I am so over the hyped tretinoin and over people who tell you that facial muscles aren't important. I am off tret for half a year now and back to my old routine and do already see great results. I would never let anybody put botox in my muscles. The facial muscles are sculpting and lifting the face.

I've always thought that atrophying facial muscles for years on end with botox would just accelerate bone loss from lack of muscle stimulation. So that this tool of anti-aging would actually end up aging people prematurely, even if they did remain crease-free.
@ЮлияМельник-ж8щ5 ай бұрын
Bone loss will happen wether we use botox or not. Meanwhile, we can either wear wrinkles or not if we opt for Botox
@MsHafekasi_5 ай бұрын
@@ЮлияМельник-ж8щ Sure, but bone loss happens faster when we don't use the corresponding muscles. And inversely, bone mass increases, even as we age, when we exercise muscles. Thus my comment about botox potentially leading to accelerated bone loss and, paradoxically, facial aging. There are also other ways to treat wrinkles than just botox, it's not a case of having either botox or wrinkles.

I love my Botox. I’ve done Botox since my mid 20s (3 times a year tops) and now I’m in my 40s. I definitely look much younger than I am. The key is to use only what you need (minimal) & not go overboard, use sunscreen, watch your nutrition like a hawk (I focus a lot on collagen), take care of your skin (I love facial massage, micro needling, moisturizer & retinols). Key: Even taking care of your skin and eating well and using sunscreen won’t prevent wrinkles the way Botox can. I’ve used every cream on the market, including prescription- and nothing is as good as Botox for wrinkles. Flip Side: understand the limits of what it can do. It does prevent wrinkles (I’m proof of that) if you start young but you have to keep it up cause it wears off after a few months. And it won’t prevent sagging skin that comes naturally with aging- you need a facelift for that.

I totally agree. I've had Belll's palsy twice, on the right side. The second time I was 19 and it didn't fully heal - I have a much smaller range of motion in my muscles (much smaller and lower smile, inability to do the same crazy frown with my nose or raising my eyebrow high). For many years I just accepted it, because it was just that - asymmetry in the face, while animating. Now I'm 39 and a few years ago something changed drastically - my right side now has a huge jowl, my eye and ear are actually a bit lower than on the other side, my nasolabial fold on the right is brutal. I mean, my left side aged as well, but the discrepancy in the rate and style of the aging is really annoying. My left side is thin, strong and higher. I don't know if I have less fat on the left or if it's just positioned better, but the fat on the right just moved downwards, into the jowl and nasolabial fold. Looking from the front my right side actually looks fat, only from the side you can see the thinness (overall, I'm rather thin - 60kg / 174 cm - and have a small face, with small bones). I totally see how chronic use of botox might weaken the muscles and bring about results similar to the ones I'm experiencing on the right side after not fully healed Bell's palsy.

I‘ve been using Botox on the Glabella and my crows feet since my 50th birthday. Every three months. Now I‘m 73 and I‘ve a lot less wrinkles than my female friends of my age. Well now I will reduce the Botox injections and get them every 4 -5 months. It would be nice to save some money….😜

What about some very soft botox where you can still make some light movments? Some people (me and my family) have a very strong mimic and i love botox (i dont get any other procedures).

This is what I’ve been telling people. I found RETINOLS age my face by 5 or so years . I would only use it if you have super oily acne prone youthful skin otherwise all these treatments can be doing more damage than not. I would never do Botox. The idea 💡 that Botox (and fillers) doesn’t flush naturally from the body is a deal breaker. And, I’m waiting 10 years to see what those LED Lights do. Sounds like gradual aging and increase of clientele down the road to rectify the damage. Hard pass. ❤this platform though.

Is slugging better than face oils for preventing wrinkles
@nikkiidomagala5 ай бұрын
I put a thin layer of Vaseline on after my moisturizer and I have noticed a huge difference! But when I slug it definitely makes a big difference. Just make sure to do it a couple hours before bed

Please let me know your thoughts on microbotox for facial blushing. I'm 35 and fed up with my social anxiety showing up by blushing. I've only recently heard Botox can be used for this. I've never had any treatments done to my face before, so I would like to be informed prior to getting it done. Many thanks

@Sakura-pc9cp5 ай бұрын
I had Botox to my masseters and temporalis for TMJ one time in early 2022. It helped tremendously with the TMJ but I did not like how “dead” it made my muscles feel. It felt very unnatural. I wouldn’t do it again but I do feel like the results have lasted for a long time.

I'm 51 and never had anything done to my face. I've always taken great care with my skin since prepubescence because my mom harped that it would pay off in my adult years and that it has. I've utterly appalled that anyone under 30 considers any work on their face. That to me is a sign of mental illness. That said, I'm sure at some point I will try botox but other than this, I will be all to happy to gracefully grow old as God intended.
