Stop Updating Windows 11 Right Away
So many people love to update windows as soon as they are released, but with Microsoft's track record, they always have bugs in these windows updates. Windows 11 KB5035853 March 2024 update issues cause BSODs, so Microsoft released Windows 11 version KB5036980 to fix a lot of windows problems.

Too big, too bloated, too much hardware to support. Even Windows 11 can't fix that problem ( having dumped support for "legacy" hardware ). Microsoft need to go back to making operating systems, not this shite.

And this is why upgrading to Windows 11 is actually a heckin' downgrade. They should really test these updates before releasing it to the public, because this is just infuriating.

Microsoft should stop relying on final users to test updates on the stable versions and go back to the older days when they could test and solve their problems firsthand before delivering to the final user.

for those that want linux subsystem or auto hdr or direct storage (not sure if it now is released in windows 10) you can see by doing windows+g then going settings then gaming features there should be a line "this version of windows supports the latest directstorage io optimizations" which requires a nvme if all that don't mather to you stick with windows 10 a lot of people still forget that windows 11 was supposed to be a windows 10 update and became its own thing due to tpm and secure boot requirements also windows 10 is not innocent here either maybe now you can be safe from bullshit but when windows 10 launched literally day 1 there was a bug in windows explorer were if it crashes it causes the processes connected to it to go corrupt which means windows explorer does not start anymore which is responsible for most of your interface in windows then we had a update that bricks audio drivers then we had a update that causes files to be taken over by trustedinstaller fk that was anoying then we had one that loves to bsod pc's similar to this windows 8 to 11 is a downgrade in general but ironically that might also seem to be the case because many of windows 7 users had bricked windows update so they never received updates who would have known windows 7 would then just work XD to those that had working windows update your more of a rare pokemon then you might think if it bricked either trustedinstaller.exe or svchost.exe it depends were it gets stuck it would use all of your cpu (due to weaker pc's that means 100% all the time) and basically bash its head constantly into a wall thinking maybe someday it will move out of the way the last windows 11 bug i experienced which was a new one was were the downloads folder extension no longer worked fixed it with regedit but the stupid thing had difficulty putting it back in quick access even after explorer restart thing is it isn't 100% fixed till windows reinstall yeah i ain't doing that for a stupid folder if i change its folder location it disappears again both 10 and 11 are trash we are forced in to use waiting for linux to break the last barriers of why i need windows and then it is adios to windows

There are plenty of reason to not go to Windows 11, but this isn't one of them. It's been a while, but Windows 10 has had similar problems with monthly updates in the past. This type of problem with monthly updates isn't unique to Windows 11. It's why even with Windows 10, I never install monthly updates right away and do searches for any serious issues, before installing updates.

To defer or not to defer, that is the question that is hotly debated in many IT circles. If your system normally sits behind a good firewall, or even a residential home router that NATs everything and blocks all inbound connections, you can defer for a longer period of time. However, if your system is a server on the public Internet, now you really should be keeping up with updates much more frequently depending on your setup and the nature of the vulnerabilities getting fixed (ex: a patch for a zero day exploit on a server exposed to the internet should be patched sooner). In the case of a desktop/laptop system, running the client version of Windows, you can usually defer for at least a week, but if it's a laptop that constantly goes into "hostile territory" you're probably going to want to look into the patches and known issues ASAP. By "hostile territory", that could mean things like public WiFi where anybody can be on the same network as you, a home network where devices constantly go into hostile territory and come back to it (meaning a possibility of them being compromised when they rejoin the home network), etc. Also, the defenses on the Windows system you have also play a significant role in how long you can get away with deferring updates with critical security fixes. There's a lot of debate on how long one should wait before installing updates for these reasons. As commonplace as Windows is to be found on desktops and laptops, there's a lot of variables to consider for how long those systems should go before installing updates. Unfortunately, Microsoft bundles security and non-security updates together in such a way that you often cannot install them separately. It may not be the critical security vulnerability getting fixed that causes the latest round of reports of blue screen errors, but a patch for a completely unrelated area of Windows. This too further complicates things greatly in deciding on when updates need to be installed. At work, you have your IT department doing what they can (within budget) to properly secure the network with firewalls, proxies, traffic inspection, etc. so the risk of that critical vulnerability may not be as high in that highly controlled environment. At home, you may or may not have the same ability to properly safe guard systems and segment them off to protect others as needed. Most people don't spend the time and money to really lock down and protect their home networks (even the tech savvy) so you still have to be very careful on how long you should be deferring updates. You will almost always hear from "security experts" that security patches should always be installed ASAP when they are released. The huge increase of cyber attacks happening now with government funded cyber attacks increasing tends to make that advice of installing patches ASAP look like "common sense". However, every situation is different. At the end of the day, it's person who owns the computer that needs to make the decisions based on their needs and what they're experiencing.

I just un-bricked it with Linux mint and it's so much better, far fewer issues than windows, faster and free. Plus my bluetooth works again something that windows 10 always had issues with. Support is better too, the suggested solutions from microsoft never worked, not once in memory, always a third party website/video to fix. I still have the main machine on windows 11 but as I don't use adobe or office, I'll be switching completely soon. At this point, I gotta ask. Do things break this bad even on the presumably costly Enterprise whatever editions of windows 11? Is any version of it chill for the casual basic user that just wants to use their machine? I will be needing some options for relatives, they both need windows and won't handle the update hell nonsense

i just go to task manager>services>services>windows update>stop>disable then when you want to check something out you enable it one of the major issues why windows 11 gets problems is also due to people using upgrade instead of fresh install microsoft cant figure out for the life of them to make the upgrade option work without headaches down the line so always custom install

I never let Windows update drivers. I don't fix what ain't broke. They have been showing Nvidia & other drivers for hardware that's working fine with some pretty old drivers I got from the manufacturer's site. Seem to remember selecting some option to never let Windows automatically update any drivers on any of the versions. I still have 7 & 8.1 machines for software that either won't work on later versions or I lost the keys. I do most my online with Linux.

After encountering the same crash following the update, I had to reinstall Windows 11... Now, I am using a program named "Win Update Stop" to block new Windows 11 updates. I need to really have control of when these updates occur, I was in the midst of working on two important Excel documents, both of which were lost due to the BSOD.

What ppls should do is delay for a month and image the drive before the update. Then if it fails you’ll have a clean drive and then hide those updates.

I have stopped updating the win 10 in 2020. It still gets some updates even after disabling it everywhere I could. That spying will never stop. BG even invested in the Raspberry PI. And tried to push some MS updates to Linux users. It’s disgusting.

Why not just disable the checkbox "Install new updates as soon as they are available"? This prevents WU to download and install preview (untested) versions of Windows updates. By doing so, you automatically significantly reduce the update frequency, and the probability of issues.

You had my serious attention up until the very last 7 to 12 words you stated in your comment. Those last words proved you are absolutely full of crap and trying to sell snake oil. No one in the past 20 plus years has gotten any help directly from Microsoft especially not any of their forum sites because if you had a brain in your skull and you'd actually visited those sites, you would already know that 99% of the time if they even are affiliated with Microsoft those who act like they're trying to help or pretend to be Microsoft support text of any caliber end up telling people to do the same things that people have already spelled out that they've tried up front when they created the topic posts. Who are you trying to fool here?😂
