Yea I deleted my LinkedIn account, tired of getting spammed up... Just another "hey look at me" site that I couldn't be bothered with.

There are a number of "Hey, look at me" strategies... online and off. I would never say it's wrong to not use LinkedIn... it's not the right tool for everyone. I would definitely say there needs to be some kind "Hey, look at me strategy" in play. Which do you use, Bob?

10 years later and this is still relevant, I can’t find anything more toxic than LinkedIn! Even worse than Instagram and TikTok
@VinceFowler3 ай бұрын
While toxic behaviour certainly exists on social platforms, including LinkedIn, the user has the power to curate their network and feed. LinkedIn has a few more resources than other platforms to curate what the user sees... As the old saying goes, "Garbage in, garbage out."

I think it's sad that people feel they need to rely on LinkedIn to prove themselves or to apply for jobs. It's the Facebook of career networking: old and tired.
@VinceFowler6 жыл бұрын
Interesting perspective, Chris. While LinkedIn isn’t the end-all-be-all, it has been an incredible asset for many reasons; job hunting, recruiting, learning, passionate debate... For some, it’s a complete waist of time, for other’s - like me - it’s been a gold mine of rich relationships.

How about if you just hate social media and don't want to be on linkedin, facebook, twitter or anything.
@VinceFowler9 жыл бұрын
+OdinsCloud then no worries Odin. There is no requirement to be be on social media at all. Life is quite possible simpler without it...

A bit like not watching television in the XXth century. You isolate yourself. It's a choice.

i stopped because i feel that people use it like facebook. The majority of users are from India or of Middle Eastern decent, not Americans like myself.

While LinkedIn has a “Facebook” feel to it... it’s still very much different. I guess it comes down to who you’re connecting with on LinkedIn.

Thank you Jo-Anne - There are a few great authorities on subject of LinkedIn. Here are a couple worth checking out; Donna Serdula - www.linkedin.com/in/todonna/ Andy Foote - www.linkedin.com/in/linkedinsights/ Both share solid, no BS advice, on how to use Linkedin, get noticed, etc... enjoy.

How many security breaches has LinkedIn accommodated? I recall at least two. LinkedIn is risible.
@VinceFowler2 жыл бұрын
I have no idea, Peter. All I can control is the quality of my own password + 2-factor authentication. I'm not sure who's platform is ever perfectly secure. Even the Canadian Revenue Agency was hacked... I guess LinkedIn is just one of many.

This video is kind of the opposite of the title. Sounds like you are reinforcing what I don't like about linked in so far. Too bad I don't have 500 connections. Will feel bad about self. Even more. Just realized this is 8 years ago.. Well hope you are doing well.
