I've been knitting and crocheting for YEARS. This is my first lacey project and I've been trying to figure out how to weave in tails when I add my new skein. I will ABSOLUTELY take a teeny little knot if it means I don't have to do my least favorite part.

WOW! Thank you so very much!! I have been crocheting for 50+ years, and this is the first time I have seen this technique. I am forever grateful!! 😁💐

I love the way you worked out how to get the knot hidden in the last stitch. So clever. I also understand why someone wouldn’t want all those knots (even though they’re small), but I tend to weave in like the world is ending so the bulk of all the back and forths would be bigger than a knot anyway, making this a big improvement for the things I make. Thanks for sharing!

I've been doing this for a long time and love your explanation on how to do the knot at the end of a row. I also find that if the knot at the end is a little noticable, a border will hide it. Thanks for another great video!

#lifesaver I'm working on a blanket with multiple color changes right now and just tried this magic knot method for changing colors (I've always use the magic knot to add same-color yarn, but never used it for changing colors). It's official...I will never weave in another end again 😂. MANY, many thanks!! Keep the tips and tricks coming!!

My concern is whether washing and drying will cause the knot to fall apart over time. I think I need to make a doll-sized blanket with lots of color changes, and wash and dry it a number of times. Maybe then I could relax and enjoy this technique. I truly hate weaving in ends, and I do avoid projects with lots of color changes.

I've been using this magic knot for a couple years. I found it here on KZbin but don't recall the lady's channel. The only time I've ever had it come out is if the knots weren't tight enough & too close to the ends. So, be sure knots are pulled as tight as possible.

Oh my goodness you are a life saver! I’m one of the people that avoided many projects or changing colors often simply because the stupid ends CONSTANTLY poke out and make my work look bad so I avoided as many color changes . Thank you! Just started my temperature blanket and started out the first couple rows by crocheting over the ends (weave in as you go method) but I hate the little ends that poke through, and all the extra bulk it adds to the beginning of the new row. Im going to switch to the knot method and just pray the ones i already crocheted over will hold. Thank you for saving my sanity as I finish this project. I cant tell you how many times ive avoided projects because i didnt want to weave in ends.

Your eyes are very pretty! I do tiny knots as well, but before I turn my yarn threads into a knot, I add a tiny dab of glue and then do the knot process. I do the first step like you are tying a shoe. Then I add my tiny dot of glue, and then I make my knot. It just helps it be a bit more secure, and nobody notices it because you are putting a border around your project anyway😊!

Thank you very much your knowledge is appreciated 🙏 😊
@deboraheubanksrafferty Жыл бұрын
To answer, "then what?": if an end happens to reveal itself, don't trim! Weave it back in. I also tell that to anyone I gift or sell a make to. I leave the tails a little long on purpose, and weave them very well, but even so, it can happen. This method would prevent that, so it appears to be a good method. Thanks for the video.
@cindyjomoore68132 жыл бұрын
Glad I watches your video . I tie a knot like you showed in the middle of a row , but I never saw that you trim the yarn . So I would do the knot and leave a tail , but I guess I have double security from coming loose . Ha Ha Have a great day .

Please help, I'm already one month in with my temperature blanket, is it possible to make this knot on ends that are already poking out?
@katydidiy2 жыл бұрын
If changing color every row or every other row, I've seen the yarn carried along the entire width of the row every time necessary but I can't imagine wasting all that yarn. Ok, if it's a small baby blanket, probably not so bad, but something larger seems excessive waste. I'd rather take my chances with the magic knot. I use it often and it's easy and never seen a failure.

It’s such a great hack but surprisingly it came undone when I had to pull really hard- even after I had tugged really hard on it to secure it before snipping the ends! I was so surprised but glad it came undone when it did before I went further with my stitches. And I followed how to do the knot step by step. 🤷🏻♀️ it was a soft cotton so I don’t know if that’s why? Maybe more slippery than other yarns?
@bhookedcrochet2 жыл бұрын
Wow, I've never had one come undone yet! The slippery yarn idea sounds like it's worth testing
@laffincrow2 жыл бұрын
I think the tutorial I watched said to go over the top of the working yarn when tying 1 knot & under when tying the 2nd knot. It seems to make a difference in how the knots seat together.
@stonecrestquilt2 жыл бұрын
You’re not doing it right. This knot has MANY names and MANY uses and probably originated thousands of years ago. Going fishing with my Granddaddy is where I learned, tying a new fishing line on so ya can keep fishing if you snap your line. Rock climbing, creating a solid rope with 3 or 4 short pieces. Practicing this knot may be easier to learn using a thicker yarn or even a couple shoe laces.
@oscara84542 жыл бұрын
I swore off knots in all my stuff a while ago. Magic knit hasn't come undone yet for me but it looks terrible in knitting. Decided to knot (hehehe) risk it unraveling on me and to just suck it up and weave in the joins.
