For those saying it has only 6 combinations to unlock thats not true there are 81 possible combinations you can do half press full press or no press combinations on each key so you can make it harder for someone to get into so they cant guess the combination and it is advertised to be used for easy access for the person thats intended to access it and not for kids its ment to keep children out all while not needing any fancy fingerprint or digital lock that can die on you if you dont change batteries or anything

You can’t open it? It’s clearly cracked and broken multiple spots, you won’t need the lock mechanism at that point, just start prying.

For the money they want for a cheap Chinese plastic box, I'd go with a vaultek lifepod 2.0. Yes, they fixed the fork reprogramming issue that existed on the early original lifepods. They've got to be making an absolute killing on a box that probably cost them $2 to make
@TallGuyChrisАй бұрын
@@PitbullSoco you can pick up the stopbox on sale bogo. Pretty decent value then. StopBox is made in USA. The Iifepod is made in China. So hopefully you're not one of those guys who wants to support american jobs, but then complain what stuff costs to do so and were just misinformed about the country of manufacture. Yes it's plastic, but it's pretty tough. It's not a safe.

It doesn't have 81 combinations, it has only six with two buttons depressed. Pick one, then pick one of the remaining three = 12 combinations (4x3); except 1 and 3 is the same as 3 picked first and 1 chosen second... so half of the 12 is 6. Likewise, if you can pick any three you really only add 4 more combinations (whichever one is not pressed) so maybe 10; or 14 combos if you can pick a single button too. Nowhere near 81 combinations. If for some reason they permit none or all; that would add two other combinations (but be even more unsafe than just six, ten or fourteen).
@18jchandler3 ай бұрын
I think they get the 81 because each button can be replaced with different levels of being press, so one third pressed, two thirds pressed, and all the way press in. So 4 buttons with 3 levels of being depressed, plus the thumb. Not sure how well that works or if it's harder to open, could just be marketing.
@StopBoxUSAАй бұрын
There's 81 interchangeable combinations, and that's only if you know how it works, and 323 if you don't know how it works. I know it might sound complicated but until you have one you won't understand how it fully works.

You being able to break the cable mounting on the box in only 5 pulls is pretty damning. I don't expect any solution to be foolproof, but that just was too easy. You could lock it in a place that would be awkward to pull on, but even then, too easy. I wonder if they had a little bit of metal around that mount point or just a thicker wall at the mount, could make a good solution even better. In a world where smash and grabs are all too common, I just don't think this is a practical solution, should you need to lock your firearm in a car.

It is more like keeping it where it needs to be in your house. Like if it is on your nightstand and you anchor it around the nightstand leg to keep your kid running off with it or taking it out of your room. Rather than an actual anchor point to keep someone from running away with it. At least IMO.

You have to press down on the lid to unlock, but then up to open. All while it can slide around. Seems like a poor design for a critical safety device.
