For the hood I would keep the center chrome strip and focus on a front ornament, Pontiac made some awesome stuff and there is much more out there to choose from. Now for the nostrils, they definitely need to go on the top of the car for clearance markers with some cool lights in them, or even on top facing the rear for added brake lights, check it out

Man we think alike! I wanted to do something on the roof but actually something different and decided against it bc I don’t want to have to weld up that large of an area on a roof that can easily warp. I was thinking about actually doing dually clearance lights the other night but think it won’t look good with the visor we will be doing as it’s going to be a very nice custom piece

The first hood is a 57 Chevy hood the second I think is a 40 Chevy special deluxe hood. Good finds.

Lots of cars from that era used 19 gauge sheet metal, which isn't used now, so you have to decide between 18 & 20.

Interesting. Thanks man

I realize you are going 4bt. But looking at those nostril pieces. I saw them in the rockers backwards for exhaust. Or possibly forwards for brake venting. Just a thought.

Both great ideas! Love the feedback!

The fronts have a curve to them so I’d have to try and flatten them. I like the brake ducts idea

I used 18 gauge on my 2nd gen camaro. Using 18 gauge on the 37 Plymouth.
@ThePaintPaperHustle2 ай бұрын
Wow really. So you’d roll with what I purchased? And not use the thinner stuff. 18 feels so heavy
@jamesbarger7302 ай бұрын
I've been using little earth magnets from the outside of my patch pieces so it's flush.

Probably side by side on the hood will look nice.

I use 18 ga to fab fenders,roofs and door skins.
@ThePaintPaperHustle2 ай бұрын
Ok awesome good to know. It just seems so heavy coming from the lightweight race car stuff we were just doing

Also. And I apologize for the extra comment. But if the special deluxe fits the length of the fender. Recess that in halfway but let it pull heat through the inner fender. Kinda keeping a little of the racing theme. I like you're ideas. Just wanted to give a few more.
@ThePaintPaperHustle2 ай бұрын
I love ideas. So put it in the side of fenders or top?
@aaronprice9672 ай бұрын
I was thinking on top. Like you laid out the bubble pieces. That way still functions on hot days or after a trip. Always a way to get rid of turbo heat.

I think that weight is cast iron, is like an engine block. Hard to weld, steel to cast iron Cast iron is porous. Full, of impurities. Don't know what settings your weld er, would to be on, to weld those dissimilar metals.

Ahhhhh that makes sense!!! I should of thought about that being how it’s formed in the other side 🤦🏻♂️

I have two of those Special deluxe trim pieces you can have free. Just pay the shipping. They were inside my malibu wagon when I bought it.
@ThePaintPaperHustle2 ай бұрын
Oh wow. Shipping always is a lot though for larger pieces. I tried to ship 4 stainless wheel arch trim pieces awhile back very light weight and they wanted $100 to ship. I had to cancel the sell

I can look tomorrow when I get to work. As far as I can tell, these are perfect. Just couldn’t bring myself to throw them out. They’re free if you decide you want them.

@keithgriffith60022 ай бұрын
I think that trim would make the front of the car look really busy. I’d eliminate it completely completely.

Shooting for the stars. Absolutely don’t want average but has to be clean and flow in the end. Need it to be HIGHLY modified but look stock ish so people aren’t sure what’s done unless they really know the car.

Nothing gets by harper, better not buy something that's not wife approved, you might have to pay harper off to keep quiet. She does add that personal part of your videos, not just car talk all the time. 😅😊
