Stories in Ukrainian: In the City | Learn Ukrainian in VERBA SCHOOL

Let's try out the new lesson format? Storytelling is always a great idea for learning languages, so I've prepared the story in Ukrainian for beginners, added a tiny bit of useful grammar and shadowing practice in the end. This comprehensible Ukrainian lesson will help you improve your listening and speaking skills!

Translation of the story into English:
Meet Olesya. She is a student. Olesya came to Kyiv to study at the university. Now she is talking to her grandmother in Zoom and showing her the city.
- Grandma, look, this is my university. We go here for lectures and seminars.
And this is our dining room, here we have lunch with fellow students.
And this is a coffee shop. Here we buy coffee and desserts.
- Olesya, you said that you go to yoga every morning, but where do you practice yoga?
- In the park. Here, by the river. And then I often walk along the embankment. It is very beautiful here!
- Oh, how beautiful! I did not think that Kyiv is so green!
- Yes, there is beautiful nature and beautiful architecture. I love walking around the old town. Here, look, this is the Kyiv Opera House, it is very beautiful! The girls and I went here yesterday and watched the ballet.
- How wonderful! I adore ballet! Olesya, where do you buy groceries?
- I usually buy food at this supermarket, but I buy vegetables, fruits and berries at the market.
- Good. Is there a pharmacy and a hospital nearby?
- Yes, there is a clinic here, which has both a pharmacy and dentistry. So, don't worry, grandma.

A brilliant video Nika...super...listening at the start, grammar structure examined forensically and the chance to imprve pronounciation at the end...lots of great vocabulary too. It might be useful to list the new words-or words you consider important at the end where the student can freeze the screen and note them down...maybe just 10 or 12 words...A very successful format Nika..bravo. 🥰👍

Привіт Ніко! Мені сподобався цей урок, було цікаво й корисно. Я зрозумів текст історії без проблем. Мені подобалося як ви пояснювали окремі приклади відмінків. Я зазвичай так інтуїтивно знаю, які будь-де вживати, але не знаю правила, тому було для мене корисно дізнатися, що можна а що ні. Ідея кольорів для відмінків - чудова. Теж частина "shadowing" була корисною. Така дрібниця, яка була трішки некомфортною - під час розповіді історії було можна чути голос лише з лівого каналу. Але нічого страшного 😉 Буду радий дивитися більше таких відео 😊 На все добре!
