Residents of a flood-hit street in South Wales have hit out at officials for not doing enough to prevent flooding.
The cause behind it, Storm Bert, has caused devastation to homes and businesses in the region.

Councils don't maintain the drains. They are the responsibility of the land owner on private property and the responsibility of the water/sewerage companies everywhere else.

Flood defence = plant trees and restore peat bogs on the hills, meanders, water meadows and beavers in rivers to soak up rainfall, stop warming the atmosphere with CO2

Those houses were built on the floodplain many years ago, but the work required on the river banks is not done, in Wales we don't even have the money to clear up the rubbish and debris. Local and National assembly government in Wales is unfit for purpose.

That moves more water more quickly to Cardiff. The answer is upstream, to slow the passage of water down. A lot of problems are caused by canalised rivers, and development on flood plains, the river would normally meander and spill over into a flood plain to store the water.

The EU law does not ban dredging. Dredging was cut due to cost and the fact it widens the channel and traps sediment and speeds more water downstream faster.

I live on higher ground about 500ft higher than pontypridd and that hasn't changed anything, streets are flooded, reservoir's have burst their banks, roads have been closed due to pipes bursting and man hols covers being blown out. I live on a hill and not out of trouble as the water is literally pumping out through the pavement.
