I would've loved if the Wookies were there instead of the Ewoks. Kashyyyk is one of my favorite planets in Star Wars, right behind Coruscant and Kessel. Also it makes way more sense. The Empire used Wookies as slave labor. Why not build the Death Star close to your source of workers? That's what they did for the first Death Star in Legends, except it was built right next to a prison colony world instead of Kashyyyk.

Lightsaber Colors: Blue is the most common lightsaber color for Jedi and is really the basic lightsaber color. For starters to Star Wars at least. The color doesn’t change how powerful one is. Green is used by Jedi that rely more on their power in the Force. They would rather use negotiation than using their weapon for example. Yoda used green for example. So green is for more skilled force users. Red is only used by the dark side and you have to make the cyber crystal inside the lightsaber bleed in order for it to turn red. The crystal is what powers the saber. There is one Jedi you’ll see in Episode I that carries a purple lightsaber. This means the user can harness dark side attributes and attacks, but still stay in the light
@CabbageDynamite_Lucy6 жыл бұрын
Mini spoiler Or he's Samuel L. Jackson and when he says he wants a purple lightsaber, you give him a purple lightsaber. XD
@JCrushFitness6 жыл бұрын
This isn’t technically canon. There is technically no difference between green and blue in the current canon. Purple is just a rare color. If the light side of the force is used to create the saber then the color is just a color, there is also other lightsaber colors, including white. If the dark side of the force is used to create the saber then the crystal bleeds and it turns red. What the op said was canon at one time I believe but not any more.

George can deny it until he's blue in the face, if he wants, but based on the first draft of "Empire Strikes Back" by Leigh Brackett, it was not always planned for Leia to be Luke's sister; nor was Darth Vader being Anakin Skywalkers and thus, Luke's father always set in stone. That draft had Luke meeting Anakin's force ghost just before facing Vader, where he's also be told of "Nellith", his twin who was separated from him to protect them both from the Empire and Vader. Personally, I like to think that before George Lucas was too burnt out to make Episodes VII, VIII and IX in their earliest form - where they would introduce Nellith as a main character, possibly have Han and/or Vader already dead, and have the Emperor as the main villain - he kept it vague as to who the "other" hope for the Jedi was at the end of ESB; Luke and Leia's force connection at that film's conclusion could be read as EITHER a spiritual bond based on some romance (that might have happened if Han died) or them being twins and thus being linked in that way (plus Leia having the Force). I don't mind the reveal about Leia, honestly, but for the fact it deprives us of getting another unique female character in the setting which would have been neat (note that I still ship Leia/Han romantically); on the plus side, given she was clearly set up in the traditional role of "romantic interest" for the hero (complete with being a princess, even if he inheritance was blown up by the end of ANH), it's kind of refreshing that she didn't end up with Luke regardless. Carrie Fisher and Harrison Ford's chemistry (which was fueled by a love affair back in the early days of filming the series) is striking after all.

I believe in the current canon a blue lightsaber is to show that a Jedi’s defender status which is what most of them were and a green lightsaber is to show a Jedi’s mastery of the force. The red lightsaber is like you said for evil. There’s another color you’ll see in the prequel trilogy. Also fun fact the reason Luke had a green lightsaber in this movie was because when they were making it they felt it would be harder to see a blue lightsaber against the sky when Luke was on Tatooine.
@embran84866 жыл бұрын
Not really. The color ain't that important. With the later movies and stories it's the design of the light-saber itself. The one Luke wielded in the first two movies is the same Anakin used in the first two prequels. A standard design. It just happened to be blue. The later one is made for combat, both handcrafted by Anakin and Luke and numerous other warrior-inclined Jedi. Remember Qui-Gon-Jinn? He clearly wasn't that well-versed in dueling and had the traditional design, yet his lightsaber was also green. later on some people wrote that the red used by the Sith are synthetic, to be more powerful and the compounds just happen to give a red hue.

Blue and green were natural colored crystals that grew on a previously jedi-controlled planet. So it became sith tradition to create artificial, synthetic, red crystals which they considered more powerful.
@jonmercano11386 жыл бұрын
Lightsaber color meanings are a bit complicated. When Disney bought Lucasfilm, everything that wasn't the films or this one tv show was disregarded for the making of new material, including the color significance. Those who use the Force construct a lightsaber, and they acquire a special crystal that's attuned to the Force called a kyber crystal to power it. In the old material, they already had natural colors, but in the new canon they're colorless until a connection is made, and they gain color based off the user. In the old material, _blue_ was for those highly trained in lightsaber and force combat. _Green_ was for those who were more diplomatic and preferred using knowledge of the Force to find a solution rather than use their saber first. _Red_ was very rare as a natural color, so most red sabers were constructed with a synthetic crystal, and the user poured their negative energy into it, making it red. In the new material there hasn't been much in this regard. _Red_ sabers have gotten the most new info. There's no more synthetic crystals. Instead, someone imposes their will on a crystal rather than make a connection, turning it red. This is called bleeding.
@dvader5186 жыл бұрын
Jon Mercano But how does this work for lightsabers passed from person to person (Anakin to Luke to Rey) or if someone changes alignment while using the saber (like Anakin)?
@Roman_Eagle6 жыл бұрын
once the crystal has changed colour it cant be changed again unless you bleed it, which turns it red, or you heal a bled one tiring it white. the way you would colour a clear crystal is by ether bleeding it where you pour all of your dark emotions into the crystal or by meditating over it and establishing a connection that changes the colour of the crystal biased on your personality and alignment in the force.
@jonmercano11386 жыл бұрын
dvader518 Once a kyber gains color from a force connection, it stays that way forever, no matter who wields it. The only way it changes color after that is if someone bleeds it, and after that if someone purifies it, turning it white. That's all there is in new canon, as far as I know.
@dvader5186 жыл бұрын
Jon Mercano Does that mean Ahsoka found two red lightsabers and purified them? Also, what’s the explanation for the Darksaber’s color?
@jonmercano11386 жыл бұрын
dvader518 She accquired two red crystals, purified them, and put them in new sabers she made. There's some more detail to how she got them in the Ahsoka book. There's no explanation for the Darksaber's color. Its Legends page on the star wars wiki gives something, but nothing definite. The description says it appears to draw in light and color like a black hole. Maybe it's how it was constructed.

You probably didn't know this, but Leia has Force Powers. Although she didn't know it at the time, but Leia being Luke's sister has the same Force powers as Luke does. She later trained as a Jedi apprentice. This is revealed in the ninth movie.

Hi Storm Akima, I did not hear you mention it & I have not seen it mentioned in the comments elsewhere. So just in case, you did not notice, when Han said "I love you" to Leia, their roles were reversed as she replied "I know".

So this is how I watch Star Wars you watch 4 and 5 then you watch 1,2,3. Then from there you watch 6 because you have that built up to darth Vader’s death and you connect to the characters

The lightsaber colors are made of Lightsaber crystals which determined a jedi's chosen class. Blue indicated a Jedi Guardian, a Jedi who used the Force on a more physical level. Green indicated a Jedi Consular, a Jedi who preferred to reflect on the mysteries of the Force and fight the dark side at its heart.

Thankfully I don't have the Blu-Rays with that horrible "No...NOOOO!" scream from Vader. It felt so much more natural when Vader just silently picked up the Emperor and threw him over the side. Subtle and more in-character.

If only you guys didn't have the edition where Vader says no because as a kid, his redemption came as a complete surprise! I think that made me realize that villains don't have to stay bad.

They changed the story as production went along. Originally Vader was not his father (Darth Vader was his actual name) and Leia was not his sister. But changes where made to the story between Ep4 and 5. That's why there was the kiss in the Ep4 and Vader never sensed her potential before.

Great reaction as always ladies, you guys brought up the fact that Vader (Anakin) was unaware of Leia through the force, which is a very good question, some people have even brought up the fact that Vader met Leia in episode 4 when her ship was captured by Vader's Star Destroyer, and how he didn't sense the force in her. George Lucas answered that in Star Wars canon, with Leia she was just as strong if not more so, in The Force as Luke, but....Luke like Anakin had the propensity for the dark side, and that is what Vader actually sensed in Luke. Leia on the other hand was very Force sensitive but she did NOT have dark side tendencies, she was fully in the light. Some believe in fact that Leia had the potential to be much more powerful than Luke because of her purity in The Force. She was not trained as a Jedi until well into adulthood, and she pursued politics and military leadership vs the Jedi arts. I personally believe if she had been trained as a child like Jedi are traditionally trained she would have been unbelievably powerful

I feel I should mention, but the moment when Vader says "No" before killing the Emperor, that was actually one of the many additions put in by George Lucas, who has had a reputation of "Special Edition-izing" his _SW_ films, somewhat controversially, including such things as more special effects and etc. And he refused to release the Original Theatrical Cuts on DVD/Blu-Ray. But you *_can_* find the original cuts, in the 2004 Limited Edition DVD's as a bonus disc, I happen to own them.

You should watch The Clone Wars before Solo. As for your question at the end, as I understand it the colour of the blade reflects the colour of the cyber crystal. Dark-siders tend to have a red blade because they cause a bleeding effect. Blue is the knightly colour, and green is the colour most associated with masters.

It's just a cliché answer you find in a lot of movies and novels. The "love at first sight" type or the "i always knew" thing. So she probably didn't know, maybe wondered about it one time at best. But it sounds nice i guess.

Blue, green, and purple lightsabers are used by Jedis like Yoda and Luke Skywalker, and red ones are used by the sith like the emperor and Darth Vader
@WhatKindOfNameNow6 жыл бұрын
Lightsaber color isn't ever really discussed in the movies. You are correct that red is for the bad guys and blue/green (and other colors) are for the good guys, generally speaking. The color is determined by a user forming a connection through the Force with a special crystal in the saber. In the case of Jedi, they connect with their crystals peacefully and get a color personal to them (their isn't really an explanation as to why a given Jedi gets a given color though). In the case of the dark side, they connect through power, and basically torturing a crystal, which turns it red. It's important to note that connecting to the crystal is a process, and once the crystal is in the saber, the color is more or less set. To change it you'd have to take the crystal out.

I knew you were gonna love ewoks. Luke is a Jedi knight in this one, that's why he so powerfull. Great ending
@SanjayTheDog6 жыл бұрын
The colors didn't mean anything the time Return of the Jedi came out, other than Blue and Green were presumably used by Jedi and Red are used by Dark Side users. This essentially holds true for the entire series, but there are more colors now and in the books they explain the meaning between each lightsaber shade based on what kind of force user you are/your style of combat.

The reason Vader couldn't sense Leia in the first two films is that she was not Luke's sister until after Return of the Jedi went through some re-writes. And I really would recommend watching Rogue One after Episode 3. It flows much better than if you go in theatrical release order.

@Merwanor6 жыл бұрын
@@JayStephens8 If you start with episode 4-6, then do 1-3 and then end it with Rogue One you get a complete story that sort of comes full circle as Rogue One ends with the beginning of A New Hope. 7 and 8 should preferably be skipped as it only makes the story of 3-6 pointless and meaningless.

Green are Jedi consulars. They are more spiritual, more passive and tend to be more focused on the force rather than combat. They would be more inclined to seek a peaceful resolution to a conflict. Blue are Jedi guardians. They are more focused on combat and lightsaber skill rather over the force or more spiritually. They would be more inclined to get their hands dirty and seek to end conflict as fast as possible, often by fighting. There are many more colours, but they are the main two for Jedi. Red is obviously an indication of the dark side.
@minski766 жыл бұрын
Red is for evil, yes. Green and blue, so far (there will be more colours as you progress in the films) are for the Jedi. The in-universe explanation is that there are crystals in the lightsaber that form the blade. Jedi use natural crystals that come in all sorts of colours, Sith (the bad guys) use synthetic crystals that always come in red. The out of universe explanation is, of course that red looks more menacing and the good guys need another colour so they can be more easily distinguished in a fight scene.

My impression as a kid was that the green lightsabers always meant the hero would win until I watched one of the prequels. Speaking of which, I hope you guys watch and enjoy the prequels. Not a lot of people like them, but I find they're enjoyable altogether as a story of the glory days before the Empire. Plus I find with each trilogy it's a totally different way of story telling with every generation.
