The first time i heard that guy "Who's footprint are these?" I was like "WOW, this game is impossible to play" I remember the scene, when Snake goes to the elevator in the first level and takes off his mask. My friend and I were "OMG, look at his face, it's so f**** realistic!!! Damn!" I think that face is animated with, like 10 pixels or so. =)

Revisiting Shadow Moses in MGS4 was the best gaming experience I've ever had. I think only those who played MGS1 back in the PSone days and later revisited the area in MGS4 can truly know how it felt. It felt like you were revisiting the house you grew up in.

Otacon: Have you ever... loved someone? Solid Snake: That's what you came to ask? Otacon: No, I was wondering if even soldiers fall in love. Solid Snake: What are you trying to say? Otacon: I want to ask you. Do you think love can bloom even on a battlefield? Solid Snake: Yeah. I do. I think at any time, any place, people can fall in love with each other. But if you love someone, you have to be able to protect them.

LetsPlayGames2Day It is the best game in the series. All the other games pale in comparison. MGS 2 was just puke and I never was so disappointed in my whole life with it. MGS 3 was good but there was far too many camp characters. MGS 4 had a horrible story that seem to be 3 stories in one and they clashed. They have not bettered MGS 1.

***** Raiden seemed like a boy band member to me. The whole jack and rose story made me vomit on several occations. The game play mechanics were improved from that of MGS 1 but that was to be expected on the PS2 but they were not that much of a step up. You have to remember that MGS 1 was released on a PS1 and was way ahead of its time.

+LetsPlayGames2Day Nah. it was because of cutscene and voice recording. Chrono Cross for example has a 3 hour soundtrack in it's 2 cds with real instruments recording, but almost zero voice recording. Metal Gear Solid was the ultimate achievement of a "movie-like" experience on the PS1.

Holy hell, 25:06 still gives me goosebumps after all those years. When he said "You like Castlevania?" I nearly shat my pants because I couldn't understand how he figured that one out. Only when I had to unplug my controller to beat him I figured "oh yeah, the memory card". That's how fucking immersive this game was. And at 39:41 the atmosphere and the fear it put on you was almost unbearable, no "horror" game could put that sort of fear into me that MGS did when I played it for the first time. This game has a steady place in my all time top 10. Castlevania, MGS and Syphon Filter were hands down the best 3 non-sports games on the PS1.

I still have a very old official playstation magazine with a Kojima interview in it, about how he wanted a Hans Zimmer flavour for all the game's music. That is how it was worded. He certainly got it and I always remember that article. Every. Single. Track. Is full of win. Memories evoked. It's the perfect original game soundtrack for the game's atmosphere. There have been many games with bigger budgets now and better sound production, but I haven't seen a game before or since that has beaten how spot on this soundtrack is.

I feel as though a lot of the best games were made during the PSX era. I mean look at things like Vagrant Story. And, well, MGS. Somehow I feel as though the technological restrictions only served to sharpen the creativity of a lot of these guys. And some of the best and most iconic VGM was made in that era too. Maybe you can call it bias or nostalgia since I grew up with them, I know there's a lot of good music these days too. But still... there's just something about them.

@@hansfrankfurter2903 its all subjective. What I think is a masterpiece doesnt mean youll agree with me. Red Orchestra 2 has amazing orchestral pieces that really depicts the atmosphere of the game. Everything composed by Anthony Romero regarding mediveal fantasy is a masterpiece, and its not just me who thinks so, but the whole HoMM community as well. Some of the Knights of Honor tracks, especially the "First Battle" track in my opinionis the definition of an original design. And lets not forget both Divinity: Original Sin games as well (whose composer is the same guy from Knights of Honor). When it comes to movies, Das Boot easily takes the cake regarding the musical soundtrack which is composed by Doldinger, and Ben Hur from 1960s or so is right next to it. Thats all I can remember on the top of my head. Im pretty sure there are more examples, but rn I cant remember them.

I'm 28 years old, and this week, at the urging of my roommate, just played this game for the first time. While it's not my type of game, I will have to say that the storyline is phenomenal, and on top of that, I've been listening to the soundtrack for three days in a row now. The music from this game is simply beautiful.

BlaccEagle It's good so far. The lack of fluid control in MGS one was really detracting sometimes. @hudesko5397
@hudesko5397 8 жыл бұрын
+scarlettears Original definitely had better music and voice acting, but I think Twin Snakes had better gameplay. The fact that you can move slow and silently on metal floors, addition of tranquilizer gun, dive roll and that being seen by soldiers doesn't put the alert mode up immediately is a plus in my book. Sure they made most bosses too easy, but overall I think gameplay improvements from Sons of Liberty (my favorite MGS game) were welcomed. But I still just slightly prefer the original. For example, Raven's tank is bullshittingly frustrating in Twin Snakes.
@amaurythewarrior
@amaurythewarrior 8 жыл бұрын
Hudesko obviously controls are better. but i didn't find the tank too hard in TTS. except maybe on extreme ^^
@hudesko5397
@hudesko5397 8 жыл бұрын
amaurythewarrior I wasn't talking about the controls, but the overall gameplay elements that I listed on my previous comment. If we're talking about some serious improvements, it's the battles against Sniper Wolf, since in Twin Snakes you can zoom in and out and locate her quicker, because let's be honest: there was nothing more frustrating in the original than seeing Wolf and not having enough time to shoot her because she was faster and Snake's aim was sent all over the cealing. For some reason I find the tank battle really hard in TTS and much easier in the original. I don't really know what causes it, but that's how I feel. People often say that only the endless stairs are harder in Twin Snakes, since in the remake stun grenades don't affect on all the guards, but only those around Snake.
@amaurythewarrior
@amaurythewarrior 8 жыл бұрын
Hudesko yeah, i meant gameplay when i said control, but control are improved as well. infliltration is more interesting although once you get the suppressor ... I think the physics of the grenades are a little more realistic in tts, and that may be why you find it harder. it's a lot easier to get them inside the M1 in MGS as far as i can remember.

Metal…..gear… such a lovely and sad memory for me. A previous best friend of mine introduced me, I fell in love with the games and the lore. They told me everything about the game to know, about the canons, their head-canons, and everything you can imagine. We stayed up in the latest of hours just talking and reminiscing over how the games meant so much to us. We would ( embarrassingly enough ) write so much fan-fiction and spin-offs of the game, mostly about Big Boss and Ocelot until we couldn’t even think. I ended up falling for my friend too. Unrequited love. Things ended roughly, and I still miss them. Sometimes, I just listen to these soundtracks just to remind me of them. Although it can make me emotional, it is worth it because it makes me remember how amazing it felt to bond so much over something that could be so simple to others. Metal Gear changed my life, I will always have those beautiful memories of my friend.
