I don't think it can be overstated how important it is to have videos like this demonstrating positive support for mates, especially within the bounds of competition. Happy 30th birthday for yesterday Benj - hope you had a good one! As a fairly recent recruit to the Storror army I have yet to watch all the videos. Yesterday I watched the "redemption" video from last year for the first time. It was particularly pleasing to see the two most modest members of the crew - Josh and Sacha - in very fine form; and in particular it was fantastic to see Sacha complete his epic water challenge - I genuinely didn't think he would do it.

One thing I've noticed about climbing - you have to keep your hips as close to the wall as possible. That way you "stand", not "hang" and our grip gets better. You can see Max and Josh "hanging" in the 3rd challenge, but Toby actually keeps his hips close to the wall Mad respect to all the boys!

yup, shoes make a big difference in those "wait can you actually grip that spot?" moments. Thanks for taking on this challenge @STORROR. As an amateur boulderer myself, I appreciate the sheer longevity associated with climbing, and I am sure it will become you all. I have seen quite senior climbers at my gym dole out some insane climbing strength and prowess at unbelievable ages whereas I think with parkour that graph between years on this rock and one's performance might dwindle much earlier just due to the fact that bodies deal better with slower-paced repetitions rather than with explosive movements/agility, especially as one runs through that finite arc of time we have here. I am sure you all (Storror) or Dom might outlast many climbers when it comes to this question of longevity and performance, but the average joe like me stands a better chance maintaining my musculature without injury for a longer period bouldering than as a parkour performer. Obviously that does not mean one is not more fun than the other, and for that reason I am and will be a fan or your team's sheer tenacity. Keep at it :)

so glad to see the mats out. Especially as professionals, it's important for aspiring fans to see that being safe is top priority.
@MrPenguinos9 ай бұрын
Yes but imo the mat should have been positioned slightly away from the wall, it's not typical for your feet to land touching the climb and if you fall from further up you appreciate the mat being back a bit. Also i didn't see any active spotters near the mat with their hands ready, would have been easy to organise given the amount of people.
@SafetyKitten9 ай бұрын
@@MrPenguinos positioning it slightly away from the wall could result in someone falling backwards by tripping over it when landing, though
@MrPenguinos9 ай бұрын
@@SafetyKitten , we're only talking around 15cm, at the heights they were climbing it's far more likely for someone to fall backwards by landing on the far edge because the mat wasn't far enough back. If you've taken bouldering falls you'd know that it's usual to fall away from the wall.
