And don't run towards the next point on the wall you want to reach, run to a point above that to account for slippage in your contact patch with the wall. The same theory is why a car travelling round a banked corner doesn't usually steer into the corner, or if they do it's only a fraction as much as they usually would, gravity pulls you down the wall as you travel forwards, effectively causing you to travel in an arc... if you try to run directly along the track, by the time you realise this is happening you will be at the bottom of the wall, reacting and it will likely be too late as your corrections will interrupt your momentum and you'll also have to react to that.

Thinking from a mechanical physics standpoint, I think it’s a mistake to go with your instinct of trying to stay upright while running, because the normal force on your feet should point toward the center of the curve, and if you incline your body more while providing enough pushing force into the surface, you’ll harness much more of the normal force as a centripetal acceleration that helps you stay in the curve, while trying to stay more upright is wasting a lot of that potential by pushing against the curvature of the path
@gruffy4967Ай бұрын
You mean do something that is physically impossible for a human? That’s a good idea, I’m sure they didn’t think of that, being constrained by reality, gravity, biomechanics and all of that.
@hydropage2855Ай бұрын
@@gruffy4967 Yknow, there were like a lot of ways to respond to me that didn’t necessarily include being rude just because you don’t understand what I’m saying. I’m just saying I would imagine a successful attempt would happen if the person has really high leg strength and eventually gets over their fear of being inclined toward the middle, since I noticed they kept trying to stay upright which makes it so much more difficult to do that. Maybe you’re right, maybe this isn’t possible for a human, who knows? I’m just saying what I would imagine a successful attempt would look like in theory
@gruffy4967Ай бұрын
@@hydropage2855 I’m sorry you felt I was rude. I have just reread my reply and cannot fathom how you arrived at that, may I suggest growing a thicker skin? Again not rude, perhaps sarcastic (as I would agree the initial comment was) as a result of your thoughts on defeating physics and biomechanics. What you are proposing is not possible. Extreme leg strength used in the ‘wall of death’ mode? You are mistaking a human for a motorcycle or a vehicle. A human cannot go fast enough to generate the force required to do this, whereas a motorcycle can put down its power smoothly using round wheels, in effect pushing down on the curve constantly. Human leg mechanics when running mean the person is not touching the surface more than they are touching the surface. The only way this run can be done would be to run almost upright and have very flexible ankles and extremely grippy foot-ware. Highly unlikely IMHO.
@hydropage2855Ай бұрын
@ Well I apologize for daring to be interested in the physics behind this, all mighty “gruffy4967”, and thank you so much for telling me a bunch of things I already knew. I’ll never be curious about anything or enjoy things ever again, please forgive me

bro you need some pistons to try that 😂 I think even if someone's legs were strong enough they would not be able to do it for that long under the force it causes

I genuinely think the wall run challenge is possible, however very very difficult. I think a few things that would help would be sprint training (200/400m) and ankle training/ stretching. Also having custom/modified shoes that have a very soft grip (similar to what race MTB tyres have) could help a lot. Perhaps even if the weather was really hot then the surface could warm up for extra grip. Great video.

Also, changing the angle of the run. They are running along it like it isn't sloped, with their feet parallel to the direction, causing their ankles to slip out. They need to start "heading uphill" with their direction to counteract the slope. Easier said than done though, as it would be super counter intuitive.

If you look at where he splashed, Benj would have run out of water if he made it across the middle and bailed. This is a friendly water challenge if you don't commit, but it has a major consequence if you send it. Imagine sprinting full speed into a brick wall then falling 20 over ft into shallow water near the bank that has the concrete bridge and wall supporting infrastructure coming up to greet you at a random angle...
@TheCNSR3 ай бұрын
@@robmorgan1214 The goal is to run to the end, so the risks of not fully making it 100% of the way are there and accepted when they commit to the send. I think we need some slinky action challenges. Some flowing through multiple small gaps in a row, with rhythm. A good one for Josh to shine, and a good one for shins to get nipped! 😊 Or how about a water challenge in reverse: You start in water, and then have get out and parkour your way up to a specific point or goal? Or go oldschool and present a simple task (wall to wall, maybe), but then make it incrementally more complex by stringing together moves? Maybe some form of challenge/experimentation where you can only use your hands, or feet etc... That's two separate features right there. Again, some oldschool fun with a not touch the ground challenge. Always interesting and rewarding, given the right location. All of Storror try their hand with the Wide Boyz in some way. Could be a collab' series. A bare foot stick it challenge in trees??? I'm just riffing on ideas here. Lots to do!
