I feel the writers are hinting that whatever awaits on the otherside of the rift will be Kratos greatest and final challenge. The first hint was Athena claiming to have elevated to a higher existence after death. And I believe Kratos wasn't hallucinating in the last game when Athena showed up. The rift or traces of it will most likely return in the series.
@Kaptime Жыл бұрын
I heard some theory about that. Might explain the green coloring of the rift too. There is room to cover Egypt or the Roman Empire because Alexander the Great who preceded The Roman Empire deliberately equated Zeus to Amun-Ra and by the time of the Romans there was the Roman inheritance of the Greek Pantheon with Minerva, Jupiter, Mars. It could be Kratos will go to Egypt next but will have to fight not just Egyptian deities but a reincarnated Athena -> Minerva. If we ever get to Japan Shintoism has limitless possibilities as there are thousands of gods.

I like that moment at 1:00 where Odin considers Atreus's question and pauses for a moment as he thinks up not so much an answer but an argument but panics a little and instead of coming up with one, strong argument comes up with three half-baked ones: 1. Ymir was a force of nature so he didn't really kill him, except wait Atreus is a giant too so change tactics 2. Odin was young and wanted to prove himself, except wait Atreus is young did that with Modi and thinks of doing so as a bad action so change tactics 3. He did it to protect the people he loves like Atreus is trying to, except he never says how Ymir was threatening them Fun mind games

We only have Odin's word that there is someone inside. Not exactly the most trustworthy of sources. Again, Odin might have been like Nox from Wakfu, who believed the Eliacube was talking to him but it was his own madness all along.

I understand Odin's desire to want to know what happens to him. However.... His desire has turned into an obsession so severe and disgusting that he will literally slaughter his own family to find out. Zeus was a pos but he owned it didn't try to come off as a good guy. Odin truly believes what he's doing is right.

Y'know Odin, idk if gods or mortals experience the same things in "life", but the answers you think are within that rift are probably just madness stirring up your brain. Ask Lovecraft and all the poor saps of his stories. They had to either live a life of fear, or accept oblivion lest they go insane and experience a fate worse than death once they knew the answers.

Honestly it feels like all the pantheons are being related to the Cthulhu mythos pantheon honestly if the story were to continue in the long run there's a huge change they suddenly would say Kratos was somehow a descendant of one of them which would also explain why death can't kill him unless he lets it I mean that's just my theory based on the rift since he said he saw someone in there and told him a few things and if my memory serves,the great old ones and outer gods did the same thing to others who found and saw them which eventually turned them mad just like the deeds Odin has been doing in the series since he peered into the rift what do you guys think about this
@ignacioblancot775 Жыл бұрын
What the actual fuck does this have to do with cthulhu
@TKDoomslayer Жыл бұрын
@@ignacioblancot775 I'm just saying that if you checked and related the stories said before the game's story, that rift that Odin was obsessed with would be the reason he went mad and did all the terrible things he did as the rift that he peered into and heard a voice from are the same type of rifts the evil gods of the Cthulhu mythos pantheon method of mind control, mind corruption and communication use over a bunch of times in the stories mentioned about them to allow them to enter into any world they desired to destroy so my question is that,are Santa Monica Studios trying to manufacture an original story where all the gods of every pantheon have been driven mad and controlled by perverting their ambitions,like Odin was, by the evil gods of the cthulhu mythos so they could enter our world and destroy it and enslave it
@alexjamesmalcolm Жыл бұрын
@@ignacioblancot775 I think he is saying that the “eyes” that looked back at Odin through the rift could be Cthulhu or an old god because if so you would expect Odin to go crazy, which could fit with his behavior, maybe he wasn’t always so evil and manipulative. He did kill Ymir before ever looking through the rift, maybe that really was just a folly of youth like he claims or maybe he’s just rotten to the core.

I gotta say I really don't like the mask. Ragnarok. The END. It screams finality. Yet theres still tons of questions. Why did the mask point to Garm? How could Atreus read the runes but Odin couldn't, the smartest guy in the pantheon couldn't read runes "not from the 9 realms" but Atreus could so easily? Why dumb down Odins mad search (hanging himself, killing Groa, hunting the giants to near extinction, causing the desolation, screwing over the vanir) to a little mask we never get answers to? Why does this mask not from the 9 realms have runes on it pointing TO the 9 realms? We had a chance to learn but then Atreus breaks the mask. Great character moment but not great for explaining what the mask is. You're telling me that Odin, master manipulator, smartest sorcerer in the 9 realms, is being manipulated himself, possibly by Athena? No, sorry but no. More to the point, why does Odin care about getting the mask when Ragnarok is at his doorstep? Sure it may tell him where he goes after death but what's the point, he's dead. Odins entire being is to get knowledge to avoid his death at Ragnarok. But only Atreus can look into the rift (conveniently only mentioned at the end btw) and he's not gonna side with Odin when they're about to beat him, so what's the point of knowing how to survive Ragnarok if its already happening? Perhaps the irony is by trying to avoid fate, Odin doesn't change and therefore dies but that's barely touched on. If this mask is setting up a bigger villain then it really makes Odin seem insignificant.
