Fabulously produced video of the Tudor Submariner. Thank you! I just yesterday procured a 9701 - learning this reference, and the movement contained while watching your video. Again, thank you! All your efforts are greatly appreciated!

One has to keep in mind that the Tudor Sub wasn't a luxury watch back then. They filled the same slot as Seiko diver do today - a solid, high quality sports watch. When I bought my first Rolex - a Pepsi GMT - in 1992, the Rolex was $1600 (msrp) and a Tudor Sub was - if I remember correctly - $450.

And the tudor sub remained bidirectional bezel until 1990

I was recently gifted two Tudor Subs from my mother in law. They belonged to my late father in law. The oldest is my favourite, a 1960 pointed crown guard 7928. The other is a newer 1997 the last version they did. Both lovely watches.

Definitely one of your most interesting videos. I love the vintage Tudor Subs especially the 9401 but at present they are very much overvalued. I suppose that makes the Black Bay even more appealing by comparison but I'll continue to search for the vintage.

Great video about Tudor Subs. Great brand, love that final old well worn Tudor in the video. In 1995 I very nearly bought a new Tudor submariner from David M Robinsons, but ended up buying the 1995 TAG Heuer 25 Jewel Automatic Series 2000. I still have this watch, box and papers and it runs well having been serviced & overhauled by Tag in 2013. I have just ordered the new Black Bay 79230N (black bezel) with in-house movement. 12 weeks to wait. Cheers.

Love my Tudor ... am so disappointed that I didn’t purchase a blue 90’s date sub when I purchased a black one ... I loved the watch but couldn’t stretch the funds ... something that is laughable in today’s market valuation. The watch is a workhorse and I’ve worn it everyday and everywhere! Diving, mountain biking, trekking, you name it! Great video ... thanks 😁

Armand great video as always. If I may be so bold as to make one suggestion based on this and previous videos - you need a microphone with a 'pop' shield or just buy an external one. My HIFI speakers and ears will thank you for it. Keep up the good work!

Nice vid. I would have liked to see costs, esp. as compared to the equivalent Rolex Subs of the day. I think of these watches, perhaps unfairly, as a cheaper, more affordable Rolex so I'm curious as to how much one would have saved buy purchasing one vice a Rolex
@VermillionDawn6 жыл бұрын
Great video! Only thing I would add would be the 9401 with the round indices and snowflake hands (a design that ultimately inspired the HBB line). There were a number of them made, at least some of which made it into the Canadian Navy.

Glad I kept mine. It was beat up and not keeping good time when issued by the USN. I sent it to a Swiss watchmaker. It looked and ran perfectly after service and cleaning. Never leaked while diving. Hooyah.

My favorite is the blue snowflake. It's the one in the line that really stands out as unique and interesting. It's a little bit ugly, too, which is fine for a tool watch that is prioritizing functionality.

Are the ref 75090/75190 also considered be part of the Submariner lineup? Just curious as to why they don't get as much coverage
@elom445 жыл бұрын
Given that they have the word Submariner printed on the dial, the answer is yes. As a mid-size version of the 79090/79190 people tend not to cover them both. A shame it wasn’t even referred to though.

Didn't think Rolex had in house movements until 2004 when the Borer family sold the Aegler company to Rolex. Up until 2004 you thought it was in house as Aegler only supplied Rolex.
@ArmandTheWatchGuy5 жыл бұрын
+kevin parker: Quite right, however, I would regard this as more in-house than contemporaries since the movements of Omega were largely made by Lemania which supplied other brands too.
@kevinparker4615 жыл бұрын
@@ArmandTheWatchGuy More exclusive than in house, that's all. Amazes me the amount of people who say that Rolex have always done everything, when i have had to point out they were not even watch makers at the start. Just bought in the bits & made watches & over the years have bought their suppliers out when they came up for sale. Cases, dials & bracelets, but you can't knock it, its seems to have worked!

You contradict yourself a bunch in this video. I assume this is from talking about something you have never held in your hand. One example is about the bezel and how the feel/work. You said three different ones where the best from them.
