Dakota, that last text you sent to Stephen was so heartfelt it brought tears to my eyes. I felt your pain hun 🤗. You’re right people shouldn’t judge you for your life and choices. You do you and I truly am hopeful for you to find true love because if anyone deserves it, it’s you. ❤️ keep doing you and do anything on your channel that you want. I appreciate your life experiences and you sharing them. That’s courageous of you. I wish I had that strength.

Damn this story hit me hard - especially the message you wrote him because I’ve definitely sent messages like this before and instead of thinking what I’d normally think about myself like « damn you’re a fool for having written that » I felt so much compassion and wanted to give you a hug .. and in turn , giving myself a hug if that makes sense. We really are just hopeless romantics who love with our whole heart (to the wrong people for sure) but we’re still such precious souls. ❤️

Stefan has an avoidant attachment style, which I recognize as an avoidant myself. Every relationship will have 1 person who's more avoidant/ distant while the other is more anxious/ close, but some of us are on the extreme ends of the spectrum. Dakota comes across as having an anxious attachment style. She is very direct & communicative, which is beautiful. Someone who's capable of secure attachment will love that. For avoidants like Stefan and me, receiving that much attention can feel... traumatic. It's like you're holding my head underwater or standing on my chest. It makes me feel desperate to escape, even if I really love you. I can't claim to have a perfect solution for everyone, but for me, I like someone who doesn't talk too much about feelings, who shows love via physical touch & acts of service. That sounds like what Stefan does also, since he'd send cash apps for gifts & such. Having a different attachment style doesn't make u a pick-me. It just means u weren't really loving him the way that he could appreciate & feel. Hope that makes sense 💞
@cerebral.reality6561

Exactly! I’m 100 percent an avoidant and I know exactly how Stephan felt (not justifying) we know it’s wrong but we still do it. The guilt will tear us more than anything. I hate this aspect about myself.

My ex was the same way.. so thoughtful, attentive to me, thought of me every time he went to the store.. he would bring me back snacks without me even asking, buy me things that made him think of me, brought me home my favorite perfume, stopped by the mall on his way home after work just to get me a bath and body works candle on a random week day, if we were driving my car he would tell me to pull to a gas pump and pay to fill my car up, felt like my safe space at night when he would just lay there and rub my back and hold me & not expect anything in return. Just so many things that I always wanted in a relationship that my ex before him of 9 years NEVER did in all of those 9 years. I was so deprived of that type of love and attention that I looked past his toxic traits and ignored them. He wasn’t a cheater and he loved me so damn much and ACTUALLY showed me so I truly felt it BUT he had other kids that he didn’t see & wouldn’t fight to see them yet he saw my kid everyday, anytime I was upset with him he would conveniently have a “seizure” even tho I knew he was faking them to gain sympathy from me so I wouldn’t be upset anymore, always had issues with his baby momma, he liked to drink a lot and didn’t handle liquor well at all and would get so emotional and extra and would be mad at the world besides me, he never ever got mad at me but I hated the way that he hated others for no reason, he always got extremely jealous when I dropped my daughter off with her father, everyone else was always the problem even if it was his fault, he didn’t have much drive or ambition(like on my days off from work he would call in “sick” those days every single week to be home with me..) In a sense he was too wrapped up in me and had several toxic traits that I buried until the end and something finally clicked that I needed to get away from him & already had my new apartment waiting for me to move in. It makes me really sad to my core even to this day almost 2 years later I still cry on days I miss him and remember the good times because I’ve forgotten about all those bad times. I truly feel like he is my twin flame and it still hurts but there’s things I just couldn’t ignore any longer but I constantly feel like I’m missing something, like I’m not complete and it is just really sad. Sorry this is long but I can totally relate to that connection but you just can’t be with that person and it feels good to get this out❤️

Dakota I really appreciate your content. I’m a highly successful career woman but have had so many bad experiences with dating. Some people simply get lucky in love and yet don’t understand that a lot of LUCK went into meeting the right person, at the right time, and possibly coming from a securely attached family which set them up for healthy relationships (plus good looks, great personality, and youth doesn’t hurt). Those people can be so frustrating because often times they lack empathy and think success should be easy for everyone. You’re a compassionate reminder that some of us have lived harder lives and our stories are valid and does not make us less then. I relate to you-I’ve had to stop listening to vloggers who don’t understand their privilege and inadvertently come across as judgmental. People who’ve had hard lives are working hard enough to create lives worth living. We don’t need judgment piled on top

Thank you so much for your videos! It helped me so so much with my breakup weeks ago. I agree with you at the end, some of us weren't privileged enough to learn how to love ourselves and put ourselves first in a relationship growing up, so we had to learn as adults how to have a healthy relationship, and actually I think it is better when we learn intentionally how to act better in love to get what we want! I think your guy Stephen has avoidant attachment and only loves you when he can't have you. I've learned about something called the intimacy cycle, where a guy will get really close and then suddenly pull away. It was in the book I read, Men are from Mars Women are from Venus. And suddenly all the ways my "abusive, manipulative, disinterested ex" acted made sense. And that may be why Stephen is obsessed with the girl he can't have. Actually they do love you, but when they feel like they're getting too close they need to pull away to breathe and miss you. When women chase them when they pull away they don't get a chance to miss you. I read another book, The Empowered Wife, and it also helped me understand how my actions lead to guys mistreating me. By being more feminine, confident, and happy, this makes the guy react more masculine, pursue you, and obsessed with you. When men pull away, we are supposed to keep ourselves happy and occupied and that makes them chase us. I learned this lesson now and I hope it helps you. I tried techniques from those books out with my ex and he has treated me better than the entirety of our relationship 🤫 hope he doesn't find my comment lol.
@scarletsletter4466
@scarletsletter4466 2 жыл бұрын
This is mostly good advice. Just wanted to add that I have an avoidant attachment style, & it's not that I only love what I can't have. It's that very direct expressions of emotions (like how Dakota communicates - which is beautiful btw) make me feel suffocated. I will react by shutting down & trying to get space. I prefer someone express love by touch or acts of service (for example, like Stefan was doing by sending the gifts). I'm not sure why I'm like this, but I'm aware that a lot of men are similar. I'm guessing that Corinna was an avoidant herself, which is why Stefan chased her. Ultimately most of us can find love through secure attachment, but if your partner is avoidant we will run away if there's too much communication in the beginning

Damn I've definitely been there where a guy was lying to me about talking to or being with other girls just to keep me hanging on

Thanks girl. I cut something off after this video and I should have done it way sooner. In love and peace I’m letting this person go, because I no longer need to invest my time and love into the wrong people. Taking back my power today! I’m ready to give attention to my path and keep my peace in mind. Love you 🍀🌺

Hi Dakota, new friend here🥲 I work in an office at a desk all day, secluded from the outside world and you randomly popped up on my feed. Listened to two of your videos and I’m INVESTED. (Not finished with this one but I relate to you already on so many levels) You are a beautiful person! Thanks for the content & looking forward to more 🤍

i'm honestly not sure about them having that conversation that led to following eachother on twitter. they definitely could have but either way it's not great bc if you're trying to move on from somebody you usually don't get back in contact with them. i feel like following eachother again after not is kinda like opening a door like a subtle yo i'm still here if you wanna talk kinda thing but they both understand what it means, you know? idk if that makes sense
