I've had the grey dial for a year or so, and it really is my favourite watch - it's has some vintage style, but with sharp crisp lines, vibrant lume, modern finishing and tolerances. The decoration on the movement is special as well, there's a ton of attention to detail.

Big fan of this brand and own a "Klassik" Flieger. Also visited the factory in which they have a small/cool museum showing their watches of the past ... true "Klassik" from the Black Forest!

Don’t get Stowa why they put it on a black leather. That watch screams for a cognac brown leather strap.

I think the gray dial watch you’re talking about I ordered they’re limited to 100 pieces and they are numbered, they have a Sunburst gray doll with the blue hands it looks awesome

Not sure if they do one in your area but Watchbuys does a road show (the NY one is coming up next weekend) which is a great chance to check out some cool German watches.. Unfortunately they don't cary Stowa, but they have a bunch including all the Sinn models including new releases.

Stowa only sells direct outside of some special editions that they have retailed through a German brick and mortar chain.

The lume description is confusing. On their website it reads... Superluminova old radium. I interpret this to be some variation of Superluminova which is formulated to create an aged patina in daylight. I am certain that these hands and dial do not contain any radium. AFAIK, radium painted hands and faces were phased out in the 1980's, due to worker safety concerns. For civilian uses, modern luminious paint is longer lived and performs comparably anyway. For tactical applications, vials of radioactive gas are superior to paint, and effectively non toxic. I love a lot about this watch. However, IMO, it it too thick for a handwound case, and the lug to lug is too long, and it needs an onion crown for winding ergonomics. For these reasons, I find their 36mm marine classic and flieger watches to be more compelling for me. Then again, I have baby man wrists. I really wish they would up their WR rating to 10ATM across their product line, as a baseline. With modern machining, this is slowly becoming a defacto standard for even office watches. If I can get this WR in a $90 Citizen flieger watch, then I think that I should be able to expect it in a watch from the Fatherland costing 7-8x more. No, I don't want to swim with it on, but I don't want to have to baby it either.

Very nice looking watch but way overpriced retailing at £648. I could buy a citizen satellite wave for that price.
