Thank you, Dr. Hahn! You break it all down very, very well! This is all so enlightening as well as fascinating. If I may summarize what I take away from this: Christ, in addition to being the 2nd Person of the Blessed Trinity, IS the union of God and man. And that we get to participate in that union by being members of the mystical body of Christ, especially through a reception of the Eucharist (already in a state of grace), what a joy. From that perspective, Lent, with all of its apparent little sacrifices and deprivations, nevertheless can be the most joyful of seasons, as we keep our eyes on the prize of Easter morning! God bless!

Dr. Hahn...you used the terms 'original justice' and 'original sin' ... but how would you describe 'original mercy'? I love Divine Mercy and would like very much to be able to link God's mercy to the very first instance of it in the Bible and in God's plan for humanity. Thank you.

@davidfabien38563 жыл бұрын
Dr. Scott Hahn has answered in an admirable, divinely inspired and very revealing way the question that Pilate asked Jesus: what is truth? From this teaching we can deduce that the Bible is not far off the mark when it declares in reference to Christ that we are flesh of his flesh and bone of his bones. The word of God also says that we are members of each other in the body of Christ. As a paradox St Paul talks in a mystical way about Jesus in the flesh, he says Jesus destroyed the wall of partition between Jews and Gentiles and made one man of the two in his flesh. In another place the apostle Paul says that Jesus has made a way for us into the most holy place through the veil, that is through his flesh. "In his flesh" demands insight and understanding since Jesus has a glorified body now.

Once, a man came to a priest and wanted to humiliate him. He asked: "How can the bread and wine become the Body and Blood of Christ?" The priest replied, “Of course you can. You yourself turn food into your body and blood, so why couldn't Christ do the same?” Holy Communion has actually changed in our bodies and blood, like food that turns into new cells to replace old cells. Our DNA is the DNA of Christ, our blood is the Blood of Christ, our flesh is the Flesh of Christ. We are Christ who lives in it so that we become a perfect self-offering before Heavenly Father. That is how Christ united Himself to us in our humanity, just as He and the Father are One in divinity. This is Transubstantiation. Thank you Dr. Scott Hahn for your explanation. I am a catholic from Indonesia.

If the Eucharist is the risen Jesus then don't we resacrifice Christ like the Protestants say? We know Christ died once and for all. To me it's a mystery, the Eucharist is the soul and divinity of Christ; something enlightened by the Sanctifying Grace the Eucharist bestows to those who rightly partake. The prayer over the mingling of the wine and water is mysterious but fully true in light of Sanctifying Grace.

'Then the Lord God said, “See, the man has become like one of us, knowing good and evil; and now, he might reach out his hand and take also from the tree of life, and eat, and live forever - therefore the Lord God sent him forth from the garden of Eden, to till the ground from which he was taken. ”' (Genesis 3 : 22-23) 'When he said above, “You have neither desired nor taken pleasure in sacrifices and offerings and burnt offerings and sin offerings” (these are offered according to the law), then he added, “See, I have come to do your will.” He abolishes the first in order to establish the second. And it is by God’s will that we have been sanctified through the offering of the body of Jesus Christ once for all.' (Hebrews 10 : 8-10) My own personal reflection, that is because of our sins, knowing the evil that we do, we were initially obliged by our knowledge of good to offer the appropriate sacrifices to God by the works of our hands, but since this will never suffice because we will never attain salvation from our brokenness; God brings to us the very fruits of eternal life from the tree of life, the Body and Blood of Jesus Christ, at His appointed time and by which we celebrate the Holy Eucharist to receive Him in a worthy manner.

*Scott Hahn is teaching ns again. Roman ct members do not realise there are 7 baptisms in the Bible. Romans 6 was not referring to water baptism. But baptism into the Body of Christ. And totally not what Scotty said: "water baptism resurrects a person". Childish theology.* Rom 6:3 Or do you not know that as many of us as were baptized into Christ Jesus were baptized into His death? Rom 6:4 Therefore we were buried with Him through baptism into death, that just as Christ was raised from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life.

Dear Dr. Hahn. This is beautiful and the Truth. I have a question: I have a very close friend who is a protestant. He belong to different denominations but of course he says he only answers to the Lord and the Bible. The straight up question he ask is: You mean to tell me that if I don't receive communion through the Catholic church then I am not going to be risen at the end of times? My mind wants to say that the Lord said if we don't eat his body and drink his blood, there is no life in you. But my heart struggles with this as I know He loves Jesus and I know the Holy Spirit works through him. What did our Lord mean when he said there is no life in you and what do I say to my friend. He is a stubborn one. I tell him that its not a matter of who is better or worst but a matter of Truth. I hope you get to read this. God Bless You for all your work and God Bless your sons in seminary.

I'm no Scott Hahn, but perhaps say what your mind prompts. Is it unloving to repeat the words of Christ Himself? why did He say the Words otherwise. Let His Word worry your friend, not just you. The Words should worry, obviously -- our Lord says 'unless'. Too many people say 'Who deserves Hell?' I say 'Who deserves Heaven?' We're beggars. He offers us His Body and Blood. You're friend doesn't know better, but how can he be guided if we say 'Don't worry'. God bless. Love Christ the Right and Truth before any friend, and He will Love your friend through you. A lot at stake. A matter of Truth and Life

First spirit-teaching-prayer by Nokodemion My spirit, you are all-knowing, all-capable, all-wise, all-truthly and all-loving in me, your name shall be honoured. Your all-mightiness shall spread out in me to the consciousness of my thoughts, so that I - in conscious ability - use, unfold and implement the knowledge, powers, wisdom, truths and the universal love, the peace and the freedom, which are present and accumulated in me. Your all-mightiness shall become a conscious distinctness in me, in my body and in all spiritual realms. Let your all-mightiness be effective in me daily and unfold itself, and nourish my unknowledge with knowledge and wisdom, whereby I am able to recognise and resolve the committed errors, which befall me on the way of my development. Let me not - through materialistic and worldly things and wrong modes of thinking - go delusional ways and fall into belief-dependence through irrational teachings, for I shall be conscious of your all-mightiness in me; the power of your capability and the knowledge in the Absolutum for the duration of all times.

The Theology of the Body flourishes how Adam was created in God's image and likeness ... in friendship with God. Mankind, being created in the image and unto the likeness of God, is called to image the relationships within the Blessed Trinity to the world: The Father begets Life through His Word and fully gives Himself to the Son. The Son, The Word of God made Flesh, gives Himself and all of Creation (Life) back to the Father. This love between the two of them generates (spirates) a whole new level of Life - Holy Spirit. Within the Blessed Trinity we see a Communion of Persons so complete and co-penetrating that there is One Identity -- One Being -- I AM There are two conditions necessary for total self-gift; a shared identity (nature), and difference. Without these two conditions the total self-giving and receiving which forms a "Communion of Persons" (Fullness of Love) is not possible. The three persons of our Holy and Triune God share the same nature, the Divine nature. And They are relationally different: the Father begets, the Son is begotten, and the Holy Spirit is the manifest, overflowing and ever effulgent Love . Adam is called to enter into a relationship which images - a divine "Communion of Persons" (Fullness of Love) ... in time ...and within creation. But, in order to do this he needs someone with whom he shares both identity/nature and someone with whom he is different. In the Scriptures it says that Adam is "alone", which is a strange thing to say because he is in the garden with God and they are friends. But, if we go back to the idea of a "Communion of Persons" which Adam is called to, then he is alone. Adam is searching for someone with whom he can enter into this "Communion of Persons." -- another life that shares his human nature but that is different. Adam is not able to enter into a "Communion of Persons" with God because they do not share the same identity/nature. The Son of God has not yet been begotten of time/creation/flesh. God is Divine, Adam is man. Adam looks to the animals and the rest of creation, he names them all. Again, Adam finds there is no possibility of entering into a "Communion of Persons" because they do not share his nature. Adam has known/felt his calling and is unable live it. He is "alone," and it is "not good," as the Scriptures say. After God allowed Adam, mankind, to experience this yearning, God provides the temporal means to image/live this yearning. God puts Adam into a deep sleep and takes out a rib (which shows the shared identity - they are made of the same "stuff") and creates Eve. When Adam sees Eve for the first time he exclaims: "This one at last is bone of my bone and flesh of my flesh!" Finally, someone with whom he shares the same identity: they are both human persons. And someone with whom he is relationally different: he's a man who begets life into the woman, and she's a woman who gives birth to life, which she returns to the man. Now Adam/mankind is able to form a "communion of persons" with Eve and the love between them will generate the new life giving fruit of the Holy Spirit: children. Taken a step further we see that God intends for us to enter into a total "communion of persons" (Fullness of Love) with Himself, That is why Jesus, the Second Person of the Blessed Trinity became flesh. During Adam's lifetime and the Old Testament times it was not possible for man to enter into this total Love with God, because we did not share identity with God. It was not until the Second Person of the Trinity, Jesus, took on flesh... took on our identity... that we were able to then enter into this type of "communion of persons" with God Himself, through Jesus Christ who is both God and man. May your Life be Blessed with Goodness, Beauty and overflowing Love From: The Heart of Virtue, by Donald DeMarco page 72: Fidelity is a more immediate expression of love than the desire for happiness. This is something that was known to our primal parents. Eve's sin occurred prior to Adam's. During the interim between sins, Adam may very well have felt that it was better to accompany his wife east of Eden than to remain in Paradise without her. The desire to be with the one whom one loves is more urgent and demanding than the desire for one's own happiness. I never thought of this before. To test it, I thought: Is this something God would do? Upon reflection, I observed, yes.... this is exactly what God did. He became like us, took on our human nature, rather than be separated from us. Thank you Jesus. Thank you God.

All the fullness of the Godhead was in jesus not Adam. The breath of God was faith. Without faith we cannot please God. Faith is a gift of God. We take god's grace for granted. What is he talking about its disobedience . He is babbling on about things we don't or ever understand . The Jewish interpretation is never considered. What did it mean to 1st century Jewish person. You influence by church fathers influenced by Neoplatonism and aristolean syylogisms and its just nonsense.

Eucharist celebrates the death of Christ by believing the real existence of Christ in the bread and wine, while Jesus only said to do it as rememberance and it was merely a symbolic and not more than that, Christ already defeated death, we are not living in the power of death anymore, eucharist celebrates the death of Christ repetitively, Jesus died only once hence that is not the biblical Jesus anymore. Jesus is risen and we are living in the power of His ressurection that defeated death..

But you sir are majoring in the minors. Getting hung up on wafer n wine ritual. Yes communion is important but by itself it falls short. Having Eucharist alone will not get one into God’s kingdom. You source text catechism and mention tradition, almost like you think they are on par with scripture. If so that is not wise. I

The word in Matt 16:16-18 shows that Christ will build His church upon the revelation Peter had of Christ as the Son of the living God, not on Peter, a natural unregenerated sinner like you and me. When we have the revelation of Christ as the Son of the living God then we can begin to enter in to enjoy the unsearchable riches of Christ. The doctrine of Papacy and papal infallibility have no ground in the word of God.
