In this video it actually had a stock J-pipe! It was RV6 high flow pre-cats(gutted) with a secondary cat delete, and an XLR8 resonated catback the the rear mufflers deleted

I got a 07 TL Type-S (auto) and was wondering how you did the apple car play install and kept the navi system (couldn't find a good diy)? Also my TL is stage 3 and has the dynomax resonator swap and middle muffler delete with stock pre cats and rear mufflers. I want to know if the rv6 precats would be worth it or if there's no point lol. Did you tune your TL cause mine has no tune and I hate the auto shift programming when driving in manual mode. Please let me know, I appreciate it.

Hey man the previous owner had the CarPlay installation done at a shop, I’m not sure what they did specifically but the unit is a Pioneer DMH-1500NEX. I would say the PCD’s are worth it, and I believe they are usually a prerequisite if you ever wanted to boost the car so it’s definitely a point of restriction in the OEM system. Mines not tuned either, but I’ve heard tunes really improve all aspects of the car and have been told they are well worth it, so I’ll definitely be tuning this one soon!

What how does your car rev so high after shifting to 2nd gear? I have a 2005 TL. When I shift from high rpm 1st gear to 2nd gear, the rpm doesn’t stay at that high rpm. Is it because your wheels are slipping?

It’s likely that the Type-S diff/trans has different ratios, but additionally it was spinning like crazy in this video so that could be what you’re noticing

It does kinda sound like a Z haha, that would be a sick swap! The pops are loud but I’m sure they could be way louder, mines not even tuned for it, it’s just a trick you can do with the auto Type-S with the stock tune🤟

So I’m not sure if this actually makes a difference, but the previous owner did tell me that the engine is swapped with a J35 from Japan and supposedly they come with bigger cams/injectors, so that could be the case! It feels pretty quick and honestly surprises me sometimes haha I have been eyeing those Gerzy Bear superchargers though👀

Yeah it’s the upshift/downshift trick! Like you said, I let off of the gas, upshift and then downshift before the mechanical upshift actually begins, and it sends extra fuel so it burbles like crazy lol

Hey there I just finally got my acura tl type s, and I am thinking about making it a little bit louder. Would u recommend me just cut the mufflers off and get a straight pipe? Also, I am not too much into cars topic and I have so many questions about what's the cat, the resonator, is okay just to cut off the mufflers and so? hahaha I really apreciate if someone explain me.

If you take the mufflers off I’d recommend leaving the “cats” or catalytic converters(they’re for emissions) in place as it can start to get really loud/raspy without them which isn’t optimal for a daily driver-also the car will smell like gas. For reference, my TL is louder than my V8 C63 with long tube headers lol😅

Nah not really, like technically it’s unnecessary wear/load on the drivetrain but personally I like to hang around 3-4K RPM when I’m cruising sometimes just because it sounds cool, but not for extended periods of time :)

I’m looking at buying a 2008 tl type s manual and it’s black so the guy is asking 1,500 over excellent condition on kbb and it’s not in excellent condition but in pretty good condition so I think I’m going to get it as my daily because my STI stays parked and that’s my power car so I just want something pretty stock and lowered. The black looks clean and that’s why I want to get this one.

@@NickTrelford so I’m still looking for one and the black manual 08 type s I found I put on hold because I’m currently adding more to my STI again as I just bought the Jet fighter turbo cover for my precision turbo so now it will make sounds like the T51R turbos that come in the skyline and GTRs they are so loud and now mine will be loud so I figured instead of spending 12k on a car I could spend a few hundred on my current car. I still want a TL though.

I fixed other things like all led turn signals and all led interior leds with a diode dynamics relay flasher, I just bought a K&N intake for it as well.

Yeah it definitely could be, I find as soon as you go catless you sacrifice a lot of refinement. The GoPro also picks up a lot of weird tones just because it’s so close the the exhaust so it kind of blows out the mic, it does sound a fair bit deeper irl and doesn’t have that VQ-ish rasp
