I’m not doing that joint account thing. I tried, he failed! Never ever again! I’m not letting anyone mess up my good credit or good standing with the banks. I don’t play with my finances. I don’t even do joint loans. Not even on my house but my name is definitely on the deed. I will never ever allow anyone to lead me into a ditch, especially not financially. I’m not putting anyone’s name on my car neither, especially since I’m paying on it by myself. You just need to know the person you’re with and their thought patterns on finances. I know better with my husband and he’s not willing to learn. Yet he gets angry when I am able to do things. I have a very strong financial background through the Army and college. If he doesn’t want to take any of my advice, he will suffer financially alone. I believe in generational wealth.

Is this not similar to boarding an airplane and expecting it to crash? Is either you trust the person or you don't. I don't see any advantage in being in a relationship and expecting it to fail.
@zariaeda007
@zariaeda007 5 жыл бұрын
Yes you have to have some time alone and have your own hobbies but I think people tend to have a problem if their significant other is trying to live like they're single. If your significant other is trying to go to the club's or bars without you then of course that's going to be an issue in most relationships. You can't be going out all hours of the night and expect the other person to not be upset.

The part about couples needing space I have to disagree with this one. I've seen and met couples that spend and talk almost everyday all day and those are some of the happiest couples i have ever met. Some couples just enjoy each other's company. And when you get married it isn't about you anymore. Some of ya need to read those vows.

With my ex-husband I was completely financially dependent on him. when he ended our marriage I had babies and I had nothing of my own money or assets. it took a very long time to get on my feet and be fully independent. Never again will I be totally financially dependent on a man. not even a man that's my world.

I was a single mom for 5 years. I've been in a relationship for over a year now. I love him, he's wonderful. But I had so much time to think, to process, to do my own thing. But now we have a blended family with 5 children. I am never alone, I never had free time. it's just not a thing now. sometimes I miss having a couple of hours now and then.

It's okay having your time is healthy. You need to love yourself in order to be a better partner. I say a toxic relationship where a girl made a guy her sole reason for living and when they broke up she became super obssed with him.

100% I think it is healthy to have one's own space. I would want my man to miss me, just like I want o miss him. Steve nailes it, it is toxic to rely on your partner for your happiness. As for money, I am 200% positive I will never be married, but Steve explained how I view finances.

Good I'm glad it works both ways. I've been with my husband for 13 years and if he didn't get gone sometimes and give me some space to be at home and look how I want to look and take up however much of the bed I want to take up and eat my munchies without having to share I'd have to kill him. He's not out cheating and neither am I so I don't need to be calling him every fifteen minutes to find out what he's doing and neither does he. What's the issue? Sounds like you been dealing with some little kids.

Nope nope nope my account is separate from my husband. My own father made sure of that he said that my generation of men are not looking to take responsibility and are looking for someone to lean on. Whatever bills need to be paid we pay it respectfully, no arguing about who touched who’s money.

I’ll say it like I said to a friend the other day. I never got why interest in someone meant you have to go see them everyday and your whole routine changes now cause EVERYTHING revolves around this person. That to me is a recipe for disaster. It’s been proven to me time and time again. Why can’t we just take our time and organically fit into each other’s lives? No need to go from 0 to 100 with the togetherness. And then even after you’ve organically fit, still maintain who you are and what you have going on. As Steve said, you risk losing “you”. That’s not what a relationship is designed to do. It’s an enhancement not a substitute.
