This Walmart truck was traveling through a very remote part of northern Oregon when it went into a full emissions derate, leaving the driver stranded in the ghost town of Shaniko Oregon.
So I got the @zacklift ready to go and headed north to get him picked up!
Be sure to check out our Patreon project where we use whatever it brings in in a month as our budget to help someone the following month! I was never a fan of the Patreon idea until I realized that I can use it to help others instead of myself, so I created the Patreon Project where we can all combine our efforts to make a real difference in people's lives and make the world a better place! For as little as a dollar a month you can join the group of awesome people already on board and be vote to help steer the ship along the way!

Scares me to death when I see you unhooking a drive line. That is exactly how my brother died on top of Snoqualmie Pass. Reluctant bolts are a curse. I recently replaced the starter motor on my brother's car. It had been previously replaced, and one of the bolts had an incorrect thread. I had to cut the old starter motor off with an angle grinder and find a replacement bolt with the correct thread for the new starter motor. I guess cutting the drive shaft with an angle grinder is not an option! 🙂

Pro tip on the driveline cap bolts, they're torqued to I think 120ftlbs and have locktite. If you use a little propane torch it'll release the locktite and then you just get to fight the torque. That schmoo is a plastic witness mark that's put on at the factory once it's torqued. The horn can easily be disabled with a screwdriver in the door latch.... Watching you unbolt the Drive shaft was exhausting for me, I can't imagine how you felt!

Since Walmart makes you check yourself out, you should make the remove the drive line out 😅

I have never and will never use a self checkout. I know it's supposed to be a cost saving measure but with all the added theft I'll bet they're losing money with them. And, my costs have yet to go down with the addition of the self checkout.

I’m 81 so I refuse to learn how to use self checkouts. Also, I ride my mobility scooter around the store, so I find it difficult to check myself out from the scooter. So I make them do it. The Walmart three minutes away on my scooter has a manned checkout until eight PM which I use.

Yeah when I got my CDL ,I had 2 choices either go Over The Road Or Drive Local and I chose Local just for thus reason. I've heard Nightmares from Over The Road Drivers. Me I was home every night and if my truck broke down someone would come get me and they dealt with the truck. Thanks for the video Casey, hope you can find another camera guy.

Good for Ethan!!! We really enjoyed his input, always informative, but never over-the-top-know-it-all. Hope he does well, he deserves it!

In my experience, about 30-60 seconds of heat from a Map Gas Torch, gets those tuff bolts loose.

I’ve seen tow truck drivers use that trick before.

Casey, you should think about getting one the long handle swivel head 1/2 ratchet and keeping with you for taking out driveshaft bolts. Makes a world of difference when getting into tight spots the require much torque.

If you ever get a chance to go into the old dance barn at the East end of Shaniko do it, the whole town is cool but that was the best part.
