Toronto in the 80's. Back then you had to grab a Now Magazine or look at posters tacked on poles as you wondered through Kensington Market to find out which concert was playing where. Or listen to CHUM or CFNY. We managed to get by quite well without internet and smart phones. Seems like the simpler times were the best times.

But later on when I'd go to Toronto in the 80's I'd be in my '83 Celica GT with a Clarion cassette deck, 6 speakers and 2 amps. Many memories, but one thing that's ingrained in my mind is heading in on the 400 in the evening, seeing the CN Tower in the distance, tuned into CFNY and hearing the intro to Subdivision suddenly booming through my speakers. This song makes me happy and sad at the same time. It's such a powerful message and it brings me back to those days and where we were and to today in 2022. People have opened their eyes to acceptance but In some ways it seems we've crawled backwards and the world is still full of hate,.. just look at the hate on social media, racism, bullying, and homophobia the minute people disagree they start being outright mean. When I hear this song or see the video it makes me feel strong and kinda hopeful that we're still moving n the right direction because of messages like this. That's why it's a timeless and amazing song. :)
