90s were truly the best time for Halloween. Heck, even the tv commercials were way better than anything now, lol.

You are absolutely right on both fronts, my friend, especially about the commercials. Advertising has definitely lost its way!

I’m so glad I’m not the only person who remembers mom has a date with a vampire.

Finally I've found someone else who remembers it! Early 2000s Disney TV films were their own brand of wild.

I remember reading most of the Goosebumbs books as a kid. It was a truly interesting time for kids and horror. I still go back to many of these movies from time to time and cannot tell you how many times I have rewatched Addams Family and Hocus Pocus. Atleast a 100 times would likely be too low. Thank you for this little gem of a look at a good part of my childhood. I still remember the controversy over Nightmare Before Christmas and listening to teachers at school discuss it when it debuted.

100 times doesn't sound like enough, mate! 🎃 But in all seriousness, thanks for the kind words and stopping in. 90s horror was really something else and something special!

Isn't that the movie with the wooden dolls? That's a valid thing to have nightmares about!

I absolutely loved that movie, as well as the rest of Jim Varney's work! That dude could make me laugh until I peed myself! 🤣

Really insightful video. Some of these films from my childhood I still watch and enjoy as an adult! It also reminded me of the reruns of shows from the 1960s I would sometimes watch like The Munsters, Bewitched and The Addams Family, which also had a family-friendly horror vibe.

The 60s Addams Family is one of my favorite shows too. The 60s also had something of a wholesome horror resurgence, that might be good to look into sometime!

Awesome video!! I was litterally looking for something exactly on this subject, something about that early 90s kids horror, i couldent put my finger on what to call it, but that was exactly it. Being born on april 90, i did indeed grow up watching many if not all of the titles mentiond, one of my all time favorite was called "the halloween tree" Never expected to get this content from one of my favorite DJs, been listening to your mixs for years now. Big love and happy Halloween!!

That’s awesome! I think I vaguely remember “Halloween Tree,” being re-run way back when, I should revisit it. Thanks for the continued support across channels, mate! I hope to keep doing more stuff like this (and continue to make music mixes while we’re at it). Happy Halloween! 🎃

My mom was pretty strict with this stuff growing up, so stuff from the 90's I usually watched Halloween town for fun. But for real spookyness would try to look through some of the horror movie cases at the video rental store and let my imagination go that way or sneakily stuff like Rob Zombie. That being said though i did always have the Munsters and old horror movies from Vincent Price and the like.
@VoyageWithSoulSearchAndDestroy10 ай бұрын
That was the beauty of video stores growing up-the forbidden fruit and letting the imagination do the heavy lifting, just from the box art. Munsters, Halloweentown and Vincent Price are worthy childhood staples, mate!

80s kids media didn't pull any punches! I remember being terrified by Secret of NIMH, PeeWee's Big Adventure, and The Last Unicorn definitely left me some delightfully traumatizing memories!

Kids movies in the 8os were their own level of terrifying and badass. I ADORE “Secret if NIMH,” one of my favorite films ever-those are all great movies, but yes, all their own level of pre-PG13 scary. Large Marge probably deserves her own video essay 😳
