Zhang Ruoyun's movie was filmed so long ago that I thought it was getting shelved forever. Thank goodness it's finally releasing. Glad to hear all the good reviews, and it sound so interesting. Also, I agree, we do live in a script, haha.

been enjoying the strange tales of tang dynasty S2 so far! I'm a mystery fan so the blend of the BBC sherlock and tradtional costume drama style is the super fun series for me! the fight scenes DID NOT DISAPPOINT very well shot and choreographed by the stunt director. excited to see how the rest of the season play out

Gu qin playing scenes in "Dashing Youth" are very wrong😝 Caught up with all currently available eps. The drama itself feels a bit awkward, not as easy and comfortable as "Blood of Youth". Maybe it's the directing and actors' timing. Not sure whether female lead actress who played Yue Yao used her own voice but the line delivery is very flat. In fact, every young cast member needs to work on their line delivery. Nonetheless, drama is still trying to tell a story that interests me. I will stick with it. Just don't know whether I'll rewatch it like I do with "Blood of Youth". BTW, drama made one big change in character relationship that might be a boon for shippers but not for other viewers. The corresponding donghua season 2 also just aired. Just like "Blood of Youth" drama likely negatively affected "Great Journey of Teenagers" season 3 plot, "Dashing Youth" drama likely forced donghua to try not to be drama's copycat even though both were adapted from the same source novel.

About not being able to escape the script, everything being scripted, it was weirdly theorized in the 60thies by the French Situationists (Guy Debord, Raoul Vaneigem...) I really despise them & I'm so mad that what they talked about became more & more real. They did a lot of video editing, at some point they even dubbed a whole Hong Kong kung fu movie with their political propaganda & released it (La dialectique peut-elle casser des briques?), in poor taste then, appauling now (French people had horrible notions about children's sexuality in the 60' & 70').
