BELVANA and Natalino are regularly asked questions due to their daughter’s condition. And these questions range from being asked out of intrigue to ignorance. The couple have three children; five-year-old Zivah, two-year-old Zayana and six-month-old Zander. Zayana has albinism and when the family are out in public, they are approached by strangers. Natalino said: “People ask me unnecessary questions like whether she is my child or not?” Belvana explained that when she is out with Zayana and Zivah, people approach her too. She said: “They'll ask if they share a dad, or people would want to touch her hair, or they'll ask me if I'm the nanny.” The mum-of-three began posting content on social media and creates informative videos about albinism as well as family life. She said: “I like to use my platform to create awareness about albinism, because I realise that people are actually ignorant about it.” The family hopes to help educate people and address some of the discrimination people with albinism face. Belvana said: “My hope is really that she grows into a confident young girl. But also that she doesn't let comments get to her.”

I’m a black mom with a wonderful child (now 18 year old) with Albinism. Trust me when I say your child will grow up to be EVERYTHING they want to be, if you allow the environment to thrive. Schools will try to limit them. Bullying can be real. But your girl is beautiful. 🥰. My kiddo is now going off to a top uni in the Uk. You guys have a LOT of knowledge. That’s great. Keep growing. Definitely connect more with NOAH, go to conferences if you ever get the chance. Your daughter will LOVE connecting with others like herself. It’s an amazing community. Glad they live in a country where doctors explain it and they aren't shunned for it, or worse, the girl is hunted down for body parts used in witchcraft. Whoever asked if she was adopted obviously didn't know about Albinism. Why are there still people who don't know about this? It's pretty common, considering, both in humans and animals. She is adorable.

I have known about this situation , since i was at primary school, in the 60's but did'nt know to much about the cause. The girl with this situation, was given a lot of bad tratment in words from other children. I was always empathetic , children are all beautiful, and you love them.

I remember a Maury episode where this black woman has a kid who was a ginger. He was pale with orange hair. The father was denying that child which he was also black. She was 100% positive he was the father. I was laughing along too with the guy. Like there's no way that child was his. Well he was the father after all! Everyone was shocked in the audience! His face was priceless! It shows just because a child looks nothing like their parents doesn't mean it's not their child. ☺️

I am surprised not a lot of people know about albinism. I have known about it for over 20 years. I saw a girl with albinism at the mall a few months ago. I didn't say anything just gave a friendly smiled😊

But that aside, I think all your kiddos are adorable especially all their personalities. I work with kiddos in Social Work. 😊 They are always a joy to work with even though each of them have their struggles and unique identities especially since kids can be pretty resilient.😊

It can be diagnosed by fetoscopy between the 16th and 20th week
