Entièrement d'accord. Un reproche quand même à cet album, c'est le manque de guitares. Les chansons sont parfaites mais trop souvent les guitares sont en retrait, voire inexistantes , . I used to go and see them at the Brighton Centre regularly in the late 70's. In 1984 I was visiting a friend in Bath. We were waiting at a crossing and a white van was there at the lights. Little curtains partially drawn against the windows. I recognised the Stranglers inside the van.. Jumping for joy I called and waved, to them, shaking Nicola, yelling, "Look it's the Stranglers!!". They looked like delighted school boys, waving back, pleased to have been recognised by 2 rather fetching young ladies! It lasted a moment, but had a real sweetness to it. I don't believe that this band received much airplay in the U.S., which is a shame. So many of us stateside stumbled upon them by accident, those of us who were lucky and explored alternative music to any degree or depth...a truly great and talented band!

Believe it or not my music conoissuer son introduced me to this band back in the late 90's he was a teenager, but has always had the most exquisitive taste in music all of his life. He's vast on the music trivia as well. Old Soul I guess?

Reason, it's always heartening to hear a new generation expressing appreciation for music that was popular before their time. I relied heavily on my nephew, when he was going through his teen years, to supply me with bands he listened to, and it helped me find great groups like Spoon, Leo and the Pharmacists, and Cake. Probably never would have stumbled on them on my own...

Many people tell you that they're your friend... this song foresees social media, and how feel people we truly know there, and how many are there for us when we truly need them.

Jon - yes, there's a lot of messaging within this piece. Check out their other, equally great number: 'The European Female', which is an account foretelling the environment we (men) find themselves in, regarding the lying and schemeing women are capable of.

I'm of that age with the privilege where I saw them in a 500 people venue. Check out Down in the sewer versus Walk on by versus Tank. Jazzy riffs, mental heavy bass, freaky keyboards and a drummer that doesn't fit but does fit and is genius. Stranglers IV could have been made and released by Idles this year - yeah, really. So....all you young 'uns should lurv 'em. I hope.
