I fixed the ugly clasp problem by switching it with one from the stock bracelet of a seiko 5 sports diver I have, fits perfectly! And there's the seiko logo on it of course.. Always worth trying

Unfortunately i can’t agree with you about the bracelet. I don’t say it is ugly or has bad quality but it is really chunky, bulky and heavy. 2nd cons is the male endlinks make my Sarb017 alpinist bigger for lug to lug. 3 months after owning i had to sell it on ebay cos i didn’t feel comfortable at all. E-mailed to Strapcode if they can make the j-louise which is thinner so i wait for it. By the way great video great watch with blue dial!👌

Exactly. I have no idea what Strapcode were thinking by making the SARB Jubilee bracelets the Angus version either. The Super J is much more in line with the elegance of the SARB watches. The Angus Jubilee looks great on chunky dive watches.

Nice video and the jubilee with the polished case of the alpinist looks stunning, and of course. There is no doubt it’s an alpinist. Seiko refer to it as such. Just because a watch doesn’t say the name on the dial it doesn’t mean it’s not what the manufacturer say it is. My Lorier Neptune doesn’t have Neptune written on the dial or watch but does that mean it’s not one? Of course not. Happy holidays 🎄

Yes, they are perfectly compatible. For example, a clasp from seiko mm200 will fit. Just make sure that the clasp you want to use fits bracelets of 18mm as the strapcode tapers down to 18mm for the clasp. This is a quote from the strapcode website: "The lug of this watch band was tapered into 18mm buckle size, added value on flexibility of using your original 18mm Seiko clasp back if you want. "

The middle part of the endlinks protrudes beyond the lugs on both sides increasing the lug-to-lug distance a bit. Is that what you mean?

The compass is manual. You can allign it by using the crown on the left.

to be honest I am a bit dissatisfied with my Angus-J on my Alpinist, I believe a more subtle Super-J version would have suited this watch better, but Strapcode offers only Angus-J for Alpinist...

I just bought mine today, unfortunately I have to pay a little extra compared to the original price as a matter of the fact it is almost impossible to find it in regular shop at least where I live, and on internet is overpriced. Having said that, for daily use I was thinking to replace with original strap with thin rubber too, any link or suggestion ? Thanks guys

I never bought the original Alpinist because the extra crown and the compass printing on the dial made the watch too crowded and junky. The new "baby" Alpinists are perfect as far as I'm concerned.. I bought the Strapcode President for my Alpinist, but will probably return it. It's a high quality item, but has no taper at all, and in my opinion is too heavy and chunky for the 38mm Alpinist. Looks like it belongs on a 42mm diver.

IT IS the same watch. However prices are all over the place with the SPB197J1. Some retailers are even trying to sell it at the same starting price point as the limited edition. Comes with regular Seiko box and limited only to Europe.

@@TheBoldHairspring I'm fine thanks, hope you're well. My last purchase was a Geckota E-01 Gen.2 about a month ago. It only cost £379 36mm case but 37mm with bezel, double dome round edged sapphire, myota 9039 movement and jubilee style bracelet with a milled clasp. It's fast become my daily wear, intact I haven't taken it off since it arrived. With the screw down crown and 100m of water resistance I can even swim in it. Their watches are definitely overlooked and in need of some love. Their watch designer is a young guy called Ben Adams, I think he shows some real talent. Give them a try or maybe reach out to them, their range is excellent.

@@TheBoldHairspring I got the black one. I bought it on the bracelet but I'm wearing it on one of their brown Italian leather straps that I got on eBay for £18, another excellent bargain. A high polished buckle to match the sides of the case. Breaks in very comfortably.... eventually.

I only wear the Sarb033 on a bracelet.I prefer my Sarb035 on a brown Italian Vario strap and my Sarb017 on a vintage green suède strap. The clasp on your bracelet looks horrible.
