I think I'll give this a try. For anyone reading this before making it - you absolutely MUST glaze cut fruit. Just make a simple syrup OR you can microwave some apricot jam. If you don't glaze the fruit will dry out and you end up with some nasty strawberries on your cake! Bonus - the glaze adds a really nice sheen to it too!

I Love how you do the recipies.Everything is awesome! I do have to say I did like how in your vanilla cake video you put up a animated list with everything you needed. So going to try this, this week with my 3 yr old son. He asked me today for a strawberry cake for Valentine's Day. Never made a cake with real fruit before. Hopefully it turns out as good as yours!

When you put the batter into the pans, maybe try measuring it out to start, and if they are still baking unevenly, when they're out, measure the height and cut each layer to the same height. If your icing is too runny it means that it is either too warm, or has too much liquid. Put it in the fridge and/or add more icing sugar to it. Hopefully that helps you out!

I have this in the oven right now.. I had my kids help me and they of course had to taste the cake batter when it was done and they said it was "yummy". I also used your buttercream recipe and added some of the strawberry purée to it of course they tasted that as well and said that it was also delicious. Thank you for the recipe and ideas. To get it to be white you can use clear vanilla, or you can add white gel paste (colouring) as you would for any other colour :)
