@Alpha Gaming It really depends on the type of stream. If it’s a gaming channel, not so much... But if its a just chatting stream like yours quite often, it makes a huge difference.

Still just rocking my c922x with good lighting until it's a good investment to bump up, I do want a new camera for photography reasons - the EOS RP is what I'm going to be going with since my current Canon DSLR is now 12yrs old and has more than served it's purpose. You really simplified the setting process for those that have never used the manual seeing on a DSLR/Mirrorless. Hope you feel better man

Hey alpha, I’ve heard for your shutter speed you want the denominator to be as close to 2x your shutter speed. But what you said is different, is there any truth to that statement? ex. 60fps = 1/125 shutter speed (closest value) After watching though. Seems like this technique may apply to general filming, but as a webcam you don’t want sacrifice the light since there won’t be much motion

The 180° shutter rule comes from frame rates like 24/25/30 fps. It is meant to have just the perfect amount of blur to make those (stuttery) frame rates look smooth (without being too blurry). I thought, this would apply to 60fps as well. However when I tried it, I found the full 360° (1/60) looked a lot smoother and still sharp enough for the purpose of streaming. For filming wildlife or other stuff I go for much shorter shutter-times though, as I want maximum sharpness. 360° on 60fps can be annoying, if you pan around a lot. But since the cam is standing still as a stream-cam, you are the only part moving.

The iso isn't a "brightness slider", it's a delicate control that weighs your sensors sensitivity to light vs how much noise you'll get. Working in manual mode is a balance of light, motion blur, focal plane and noise.
@Doggo-404
@Doggo-404 5 жыл бұрын
Lighting is so important when considering how wide you can or should open the aperture. If you don't use much light in your setup, you will have to open the aperture wide (e.g. F2.8 - F5.4) to compensate for the lack of light hitting the camera's sensor. However, you may end up with a very shallow depth of field (DOF), i.e. wiggle room. This creates great boken (background blurring) but, if you have a small amount of forward and backward movement due to a very shallow DOF you may move in and out of focus. The narrower the aperture (F11 - F22) the deeper DOF, i.e. more wiggle room. You'll have less boken but, to remain if focus is much more important than the boken effect itself. Play with your lighting so you have enough space to move freely in front of the camera without going in and out of focus. BTW, good job on explanation Harris, Aperture, Shutter Speed, and ISO are all connected and can be so difficult to explain and understand.
@GijoeXD
@GijoeXD 5 жыл бұрын
Iso can be compared to an audio amplifier. If you turn a powerful amp up high, you can hear noise. If you make your sensor more snsitive you can see the natural noise of the sensor more.

I am pretty sure you're wrong when talking about shutter speed. There's something called 180-degree rule, if you’re shooting at 30fps, then you’ll need a shutter speed of 1/60th; shoot at 60fps and your shutter speed should be 1/120th.

@uhu4677

@@RedOneM You might want to actually test that. I did. For streaming imo 360° on 60fps looks a lot better than 180°. For filming other stuff while panning around with the camera a lot, it's a different story. 360° will be too blurry in some situations. For some things (wildlife for example) even less time than 1/120s can be good. This rule is originated from slow frame rates such as 24/25/30fps. And it doesn't apply to everything.
@AJSarsfieldFilm
@AJSarsfieldFilm 5 жыл бұрын
This is if you want to follow the Hollywood filmmaking "rules" this is all subjective... if you feel the 180 degree rule is better by all means use it... however as he explains in the video because you're usually sat down in a dark room and dont move much when streaming having a 360 degree shutter you wont really notice too much of a difference and that extra light will probably help your pucture quality more than a bit of motion blur would... All subjective though try each option out and see which looks best for you

There is a hidden audience of sales professionals trying to learn this stuff. For my Sony Alpha6K streamer friends that are running into an extremely grainy look on your just chatting or full screen face cam scene. Instead of setting the camera to manual, set it to Movie mode. Within Movie mode you can select manual control over your Aperture, Shutter Speed and ISO. This got rid of my grainy look at least. Give it a shot, you can always go back if needed.

Just to add to what he said, the ISO is also how sensitive your sensor is to light, so the higher it is, the brighter but going up doesn't really affect noise unless you REALLY crank it up. It really helps when your aperture is at the widest it can be and if it’s still not bright enough, then the ISO comes in to boost that brightness but imo it shouldn’t be prioritized over the aperture for brightness

A bit late, but there are some alternatives. You can use basically any capture card but the easiest ones would be the ones that support UVC. I don't think Harris is allowed to say it in this video/comments, but a few examples of alternatives: AVerMedia LiveGamer Portable 2 Plus, AVerMedia ExtremeCap UVC, probably a few other legitimate ones and then some generic brands such as EZCap 261 The ones that don't support UVC won't be plug and play / necessarily show as a input for some apps but can be fixed with drivers or worst case scenario, a virtual cam with OBS

Have you considered the issue of Sony Cameras going to ''stand by'' mode?

I have read that the Sony A6xxx overheat with internal recording, but i even read that they still overheat not recording (using it just HDMI out), is this is still the case on long streams (6+ hours)?

I am so done with elgato products just simply not working right lol I have a question! When using the cam link and seeing the capture, I'm getting this ghosting thing happening. First off, I'm using this in Elgato (god awful) capture software because I can't connect my capture card to OBS (no support for the Elgato HD60). Whenever I try to overlay my camera it brings it up in a weird format and then the image starts ghosting intensely. Every time I move there are multiple of me. What EVEN is happening??? when I use the cam link as a source, it's fine except that the image looks to have crazy motion blur. Almost like I'm putting in a 30fps signal and its coming out at 60fps, even though my camera and the software are both set to 30fps... I'm at my limit for how much I can take this overpriced product failing me. Anyone else having this issue with a solution?

Dumb question (i know this may be an older video but I'm trying to figure this out) So I'm building a new studio that has a Sony a6000 as a camera and behind me will have a TV and a couple neon lights (unfortunately the neon lights are bright that don't dim). When I start testing this view the neon lights and the tv is bright, what settings would be best for the camera to have so they show up clear and not washed out. Thank you

Thanks for the info bro. I am using an old Canon 7D. I just need a close range lens. I usually rock a 70-200 Canon L series. I think having the image quality is a game changer!!

Wouldn't 30fps be better for your stream cam? You dont really need 60fps for a stream cam and you would get 2x more light to the sensor

CAN ANYONE TELL ME HOW DO YOU HOOK UP BOTH YOUR CAMERA AND YOUR SWITCH THROUGH A CAPTURE CARD TO OBS?? THE CAMLINK OR THE HD60 S BOTH ONLY ALLOW FOR ONE HDMI IN AND ONE OUT. DO YOU NEED TWO CAPTURE CARDS?? HOW DO YOU GET BOTH DSLR FEED AND SWITCH GAME FEED INTO OBS?!?!?!?

I have a good camera (canon 80d)and know about videography but I can't use it because it's uses a lot of my CPU and makes my game and stream laggy. I checked about the elgato but I saw reviews that it also uses a lot of cpu. So I can't use my camera till I upgrade by pc and that's not possible for a long time
